Not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this but here goes:

This is not a rant, i am asking for advice.
When i first got my M17x everything ran fine, playing games in sli mode or single card mode. 3 months later and i find i can't play any games in sli mode without constant stuttering, uneven frame rates. It is really noticable when playing racing games like Dirt. I can't even get round one course without going off the track because ot stuttering. I think i get the micro stutter on both sli and single card configuration, this i can live with as it only happens every 60 seconds or so. But in sli i have no chance ot playing any sort of game as it is way to eneven game play, even on my bench mark runs i notice it. I have tried all diferent drivers, hybrid enabled and diabled, could there be a problem with one of my graphics cards?? Example, running Fur mark in single card at a lower resoution 800x600 it is completly smoth, but with sli enabled usinf the same resolution ti is very jerky. It is the same result for higher resolutions aswell? Any ideas??

    Thanks

So far it looks like the 280M are still better price/performance compared to the ATI.

When will we have more ATI benchmark to decide what really is faster?

yes, but what does it look like without you over clocking your cpu?
people tend to forget that ati cards seem to be far better with an over clocked cpu than over clocking the gpus by themselves....

this only pertains to the 4870's in the m17x's...since they can't over clock the gpu...

and as everyone already knows..ati cards do far better with an over clocked cpu than they do without one. and last we checked...it didn't yield a very big gain just over clocking the gpus only for them.

and i know this to be true because i over clocked my ati card to be sure.

I'm just gonna say that SLI 280ms and CrossFireX 4870s are on par with each other when comparing stock runs. I do want to see what is the full potential of the 4870s if they were able to also OC GPU.

As it stands now neither setup of the m17x is not a bad choice.

Go OC your CPU , Bench 3DMARK06 and Vantage , and put your scores on the score board on the first page. Need more 4870's in the top 10.

You guys need to benchmark some things like Resident Evil 5 and Devil may cry 4 .. Things that can take advantage of DX10.1 when using AA .. Need some of those comparisons against the 280s ..

I think its more a lucky machine then even so much a lucky CPU .. But John is 100% right about it being alot on the user end.. patience does not hurt either :).

I can OC the living daylights out of my CPU in the M17 but in the M17x ... No :(...

Hopefully Dadah has more luck when he gets a Quadcore..

Don have you talk with Dell in getting the 4870s? They may actually do a swap for you even if you pay some extra. Wouldn't hurt to ask.
