5850's though, but HEY, that would make me happy right now.
(for a little while, anyhow)
-
only 2670 bucks usd
and before they start up in here..
it says..ddr3!!!!!!!!!! so dont even start with the g5 stuff!
(of course it could be another ...*cough* misprint..haha)
lol -

I calculate $2,269 or $2,370 US (according to which model chosen), delivered!
-
hmmmm....it's still a packard be...I mean acer.
-
depending on who has it in the US..you might be paying tax and shipping, so that will make up for the vat...lol
-
The specs look pretty interesting
..
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Actually though, I have owned several Acer's and never had an issue with build quality...... but I never considered an Acer a gaming rig either, LOL!
Let's hope to see something FRESH soon from Dell/AW.......

CES in January.
-
Yeah i have been saying Winter CES all along but something tells me it might be a bit longer .. Hope im wrong for all the people on the fence
..
I would be all over a LED backlit i7 with dual 5850s be it GDDR3 or 5....

These things are still selling like hot cakes..
The CPUs are not thing weak link in these machines its the GPUs..
I also believe until the new Mobile i7s come out we wont see a new machine... -
Remember the original m15x and m17x. Wasn't that announced at CES in January then released in March?
-
Again i hope im wrong..
Either way when they announce the new machine depending on the specs im sure ill be all over it..
This M17x wont even be a year old till E3 again in June.. Awfully fast for a full refresh..
Were all just speculating anyhow so we can have some fun with it..
My first thought again was Winter CES because of all the free advertising but they could SOo easily wait till this years E3 for even more free press when you think about it..
Tons more advertising and press go's into E3 then CES... -
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
(already planning upgrades)
-
..
I just grabbed another M17x for the time being as it was a deal to good to pass up on......
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
And, CONGRATS on the new M17x, dude!
-
looks like you guys have some hard choices to make in the next 6 months...i7/sli/xfire is about when i think i may take another run....

it seems you are more itchy then me.

Since Nvidia still has not released much info on there new GPUs i think were still aways off from a new machine... I cant see Dell refreshing the machine with the current crop of cards staying while everything else changes... We are only a couple months away from Winter CES and i think its just to soon to see all this come together so fast...
Dell could though opt out from launching with Nvidia cards all together and just with ATI but i just dont see that happening myself... -

The next laptop I will even consider will have to be CF/SLI (most likely CF 58xx cards though) and mobile i7. But you cannot get a 920xm for $500 like we did the QX9300s.......
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
And do not forget, Acer now owns Gateway, which DOES market gaming machines through their FX line
-
yeah, i have that itch alright, just it's a bit bigger than others. went to grab a 5970 and them suckers we're all gone. they said they would lock on to one for me when the next batch comes in....then once the fermi cards hit..ill grab two of those and be set for benching for the next year..lol...all while watching to see when the first dual card i7 hits...and is not going for no nvidia refresh this time...if they are fermi cards...ill bite...if they are gt200 anything they can forget it...dont care if that sucker cost 500 bucks..still aint going for it! and since im now use to over clocking i7's...i should fit right on in with the next gen laptop...
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
lol as if a laptop will have anywhere near the OC options of your desktop. So even if GT200 based mobile cards come out (real ones, like 240 cores) you wont be interested? Picky!
I am heavily favoring ATI this go around though...they are just mopping the floor with nvidia. And Nvidia scared me when they said they think CUDA will be more important than gaming when announcing Fermi. Guess they forgot what sells their top models.... -
old is old...let that 200 series go in peace....
going to have to wait and see, but somethings up because ati is putting out their dual gpu instead of waiting...so they may be trying to cash in on christmas/black friday and the fact that fermi wont be around till next year...even though there is one floating around doing benchmarks (but you know how that goes.....taken with a grain of salt.)
and besides...ati is mopping the floor with nvidia on 01 through 06 and i need points in those benchmarks...and a gtx295 ain't cutting it. so this trip ill run both. and then watch to see who has the better mobile card, then maybe jump in then and get started on setting some more records..lol -
Let g92 die in peace
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
its only been 3 gens now. With the 8,9, and 200 series using the same core.
-
and a good 4 years for them...
looks like the 8 series was the 25 percent of the g series...and the 280m's being the 100 percent most of the g series...\
makes me wonder how much of a fermi card we are getting the first year round. -

lets not get too far off topic, I like this thread and do not want to see it closed by an overzealous moderator

Even a non over zealous mod would
Hell the past 2 pages are random talk.... Nothing to do with m17x .... Please read the first page -
most of my stuff is still mentioning something to do with a mobile card....lol so im partly off the hook....and since don seems to be the only one still benching the 280's and drake doing the 4800's...not much benchmarking going on....
-
i understand that but thois was the reason this thread was made and the random thread was created
i am ALL for random talking and its why i am currently close to being banned, im just saying -
whole forum is pretty much random talking at some point or another...guess we just need a general chatroom on here to get rid of the random conversations in the threads....wonder if they would go for that? a java based chatroom
-
they did once and i do not think they will go back ....it was evidentially a very very bad experience
-
hummmmmm....
so...got any new benchmarks?? -
i have not seen anyone beat me yet so i havent tried
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I'll try your vantage again. The highest I got was 5900 on it. But I AM trying to restore and play with images right now. My is are junky and unorganized.
-
lol trust me that 6300 was not fun
i had my card extremely overclocked and the p8600 overclocked as well. No OS tweaks or anything just stock settings -
I don't remember what I got with my single nVidia runs. I still need to try it with a single 4870.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I will do single Vantage runs just for you Moo, I should be able to beat your score.....
