So the best I could manage with Drake's CPU bypass trick was a nice 16692 in 3DMark06. No GPU OC'ing - just CPU. Used Multiplier of x10 and FSB set at 1280. Mem I left alone at 1066 since I have the stock Dell 1066 memory. 9400M G disabled of course. 182.46 DOX driver.

Tried running Vantage but it kept locking up for some reason. I'll have to reinstall it since its still locking up even at default CPU clock.

Once Scook is up and running, he'll have to pass my 16692. :)

if you don't bypass the cpu how much you get on 3dmark 06? :)

Well the best I was able to pull was a 16097. I believe it was with 186.24. I didn't grab a full screenshot - just this...
I dont recall if GPUs were messed with - I dont believe so. Since then, was never able to come close. Until today. ;)

@Drake: Aren't you playing with voltages?

LOL John. Its tempting... Odd thing about it is when I tried to OC the GPUs it really didn't help. In fact 3DMark06 reported a lower score. I tried don's clocks for the GPUs and I BSOD'd. Kind of wondering if my cards might be having issues. :(

Everyday tasks and the light gaming I do are fine and no issues there. Perhaps my cards just don't like being pushed. I also do not like NST. Hopefully they will update it soon. June 2009 is just a tad bit out of date.

I might give it another go with the 179 Dell driver (+ using Drake's CPU deal) ;). Its old but it produced better #s for me than the 186 dell drivers. I think we will all agree, the 186.82 and 186.91 are not for benching... lol

That depends which of don's clocks your trying. He pushing them high right now plus with your CPU OC you going to need added cooling from a notebook cooler at the very least to stop the BSODs.

you have to be in an controlled environment. If it is very warm the chances of those clocks working or slim.

I suggest 650/1625/1060 until you get some cooking. On the memory 1070 is fine also but 1080 is alittle suicidle. And don't run 1080 unless you know your gonna hit big.

also with sli 06 won't budge with overclocking much. I have tried it. But with a single card the score can go up to 1000 points. I don't know why either but just letting you know so you don't have to go threw all that trouble.

He's also pushing 3.2Ghz on his QX9300. His temps are going to climb fast with OC'ed GPUs.

Temps were fine. Never exceeded 60c on the GPUs / 55c on the CPU. No cooler used - was just cold in the home office.

I tried his 650 core / 1060 mem / 1625 shader clocks. Also tried dropping them down from there - still crashed out or resulted in a lower score.

You don't understand .... 60c is hot foroverclocking ... The colder you can get it the higher it will go.

It's a electrical thing ... Slow down the particles and you get a straight line bs them shooting all over the place which will cause instability

it's how I got my care 150 MHz faster then anyone else

Aparently 6.3k GPU is the single card score to beat as set by Moo right?

yes you did. Moo was 6300 and you were 6500. But I have to see what I come up with stock and overclocked. Right now I AM restoring my drives. Hopefully it will hurry up.

batboy play with your system overclock. Make sure for vantage you disable fraps if you have that running. Also make sure you cleaned your drivers. That will help your overclock. Also you will see more of an improvement with vantage then 06 in gpu overclock when sli is enabled. If you run a single card then you will a big differnce in 06...

I need to do os tweaks like y'all .... Would help me out quite a bit ...

But still the sheer power I had in my 260 was greater since I had less CPU and no tweaks ...

tis is true quad and 6400 sounds about right.
seems that the w90 is king of the single card in vantage.

this is hard. But I almost got it finished up. Just restoring the MBR for both os's...

the w90 is still hard core. People who has that machine should not give it up unless they have issues with it.

the Asus is now unlocked and can easily hit 12k with the right hands

Its unique due to the x58 chipset ..... if the bios was modded to give the quads some more voltage it would more then likely surpass the M17x
