It is an exceptional laptop and I found myself loving mine. If I had known I would run into stutter on the M17x as well, I very well may have just kept my whitebook and pursued 4850s for it

will the kingston hyperx xmp ready memory work with nvidia chipset skook? mandrake? the only reason i bought it was because it was cheaper than non-xmp ready.

Regardless if the tech is way ahead I can't get back into desktops. Besides have usb 3 and sata 3 devices started popping up yet?

i can. i have 7 computers & laptops now. but i can do way more on a desktop so i run with it.
im pretty sure that your ssd drive running through a faster sata port will in fact produce faster results (speculation of course) :) considering if you use a sata 1 port your speed is greatly downgraded.

I depleted my slush fund with the purchase of the M17 and a T9900. Need to build it back up. If I use other $$ the wife will kill me.

    ati
    4830
    4850
    4870
    4890
    nvidia
    250
    260
    275
so much choices. and price is a factor because of i get to crazy then i'll say

    i should get a better cpu(intel 775)
    i should change the mobo
i should get a better psu
    i should get an i7
i now need an i7 mobo
    i need ddr3 ram
    and now it's crazy

i have been looking at the i5 though. i must say it looks good for the price and it's still a quad with ht so it's 8 cores.....
