its probably more the north bridge....gets to a certain temp and all hell starts to break loose.... mass stuttering and video driver corruption.

now run it against everest 5.0 beta...the one that records the nb as well...want to verify they are in fact using the same temp sensor...if ya dont mind don. thanks

after doing some test. i figured that ram is holding me back. i'm going to put in my other stick to see whats up.

it seems the cpu/motherboard is greatly affected by the ram that us being used because of the fact that we have so much power over the ram compared to other systems

we can change the ram speed in the bios which would in turn affect the cas/etc of evrything else. also we have nst for more power compared to the whitebook we where stuck at 1066fsb.

    i'll do some testing...

ok. my 2nd stick of ram for my better ram died so i cant do a full test. i ran farcry2 and switching from 4gb ro 2gb dropped 10fps average.

i'm using 4gb of ocz ram@1333ghz. and 2gb of kingston hyperx ram.

then you want to drop it down...
if the ram is 1066...you want to drop it down to 800 then over clock back up...the ram will go back to it's normal speed without undo stress.

Hey Don, you can break 13k CPU with a clock 3.2xx Ghz or higher if I remembered correctly.

Then I must have a bad QX9300 then Drake. You remembered when I complained that I could not get it up past 3.23xxGhz... I was running it around 3.2xxGhz , and could not break 13k at all.

    I can't hit 3.16ghz. I can boot at 3.2ghz but I bluescreen when I run anything.

I'll try though. Scook run some farcry2. I know you got that.

you probably need to "get it colder" don

    what is your room temp?

also..i remember you saying heaven crashed on you...have you been able to get it to run lately?

I would like a screen shot proof please.... :) Then i'll believe you and I can then confirm that I got a bad QX9300. My highest score is on first page for the CPU Vantage score almost hitting 13K with clock @3.2xx Ghz

idk how cold you want me to go. When I first got the quad it was pretty freezing in my room already. I can't tolerant the cold. :( must people alreadly know why. Lol. :) 8)

It keeps giving me an error. I will post up the error in a few.

unless I bring my mom's car in the room and start it, I don't know what my room temp is.

here some food for thought.my t9300 and my qx9300 gets the same gpu score in vantage but I stutter like $#!; with the quad. My frame rates are horible????

    Ouch! (Kiddin'!)

Question: Should difference of drivers impact CPU score in any way?

Don, I kind of understand what you're talking about. I had similar issues overclocking a certain GPU back in the day. Everyone told me to find ways to lower temps, but the thing was crashing on me with really low temps like upper 50s and lower 60s. Sometimes, the chip/card/part just isn't up to that mark of benchmarking.

    back to basics...
with no gpu over clocking...does it stutter?
if you leave the cpu stock and over clock the gpus...does it stutter?
    stock to stock...does it stutter?

and do you drop the speed of the ram and then over clock?
(meaning drop it to 800 mhz and then start over clocking your cpu)

i got all kinds of ideas to try...lol

That confirms it. So My QX9300 revision sucks. I'm already looking to get a replacement of the QX9300. Hopefully I can find a good one like Mandrake, so I can burn the house down.

Don: Good luck with OC'n the QX9300. Hopefully you can achieve what I could not.

    stock cpu
    stock gpu
800mhz ram and see what's up.

    i would start there
drop ram to 800mhz... then over clock your cpu in a way that the ram lands around 1066 or so. it can even be lower..then run only a partial test to see if it stutters.

I'm running vantage right now with those settings and it's still stuttering. I'm going to see what the results are.

my cpu score isn't being affected though so I am think it could be microstuttering..... Any ideas???

stutters. like jumps in the run. i don't want to disagree with you but running vantage on my hp, whitebook, sager, and the m17x before the quad i didn't have this issue.

    except the whitebook.... lol.

    mandrake.
well of course that part goes down. i'll do a refresh driver clean up and chipset install and everything to see if that helps.

1: jet ski starts in to the first part of tunnel...slow down or stutter
2: jet ski enters second part of smaller tunnel..right at the end.. slow down
3: when jane falls into water with crate... major slowdown
4: as jets ski's come out of octogon tunnels...slow downs
5: as they fish tail through the water...slow downs
6: just as you exit the tunnel...1 second pause and stutter as it starts to take off and leave the water.
8: the tarp jumping all over the place... microstutter (more so with nvidia)(ait looks pretty clean here)

there are some others, but base off of your over clock..they come and go.

shoot a video...maybe we aren't thinking of it as the same thing...because no matter what...these mobile cards all slowdown.
and your right...mine never jumped...like example:
1 thru 30 frames...then jumps to frame 60 then jumps to frame 80 and so on....that is what i call major stuttering....if this is what your talking abut...then yes...you have issues...lol

Those are the places I usually see stutter if it occurs, but it does not always happen.

I have also seen stutter when Jane runs out of tunnel on the catwalk, and after jetski goes into the 2nd tunnel and the camera pans to the right over the boat and henchmen towards the 2 talking in the corner. It seems odd that it will repeatably be in these locations and not other places, there has to be some reason for that, and it is way to repeatable to be heat related. I have tried various OC's and different combinations of CPU and GPU but at the end of the day, it is never 100% gone :(

I also think it may have something to do with DX10 vs DX9, but need to test this more in games to see.

i'm stock. i get stutters all over. like
when the guy enters the cave.
when one guy is showing the other one the gun.
    when the alarm sounds.
    when jane is running.

just a ton. also the outer space one. it drops from like 52 to 30fps out of no where. i'm going to pass it off as microstuttering since i'm the only one that has it.
re5 is the worst. that's why i stopped running it. the sli bar would just drop and get single card performance out of no where.

i just uninstalled nst. then i'll uninstall the gpu driver then vantage. and reinstall everything.

nope..it has to do with how it was made.
i get slow dows in some of the places and i have a 750 dollar card.
it did it with the 8800m/9800m/gtx295/and now a radeon 5970.

if you get stuttering with stock...i think it's going to be your machine....you should not have crazy stuttering all over the place.
but if no stuttering with dual core...it's a bios issue... and since they are nvidia...makes it all the more worse...they have issues with quads.

Those stuttering are also on my C2D P8600 runs. It's normal. Thats just my assumption. I see it at stock clock, I see it with my QX. I have never seen a smoooth bench with vantage.

that's what i keep trying to say.

if that benchmark stutters or slows down with an 17-975 and two gtx295's

i know damn well it's doing it on a laptop. it did it on every single laptop i owned...some worse than others...but i also never could over clock my cpu either. yet it still had it's moments in the exact same spots i mentioned...but when i started over clocking to high..i would get the other spots scook mentioned.(d901c-all my gateways-my hp..*lmao@hp)
