nah, that ion is a waste...i had it first and the msi smoked it at watching youtube videos and games.that's why i took it back and got the msi instead...but if you can find one with a dual core in it..it will be faster.

 

I was going to sink that much into an M17 haha

And yes it is, that is why I am trouble (backup kind of means toy too, so I don't get too bored with one or the other )

 

Well finally did my first GPU OC with the help of Rengsey and Mandrake Vantage ran fine, 3dMark06 on the other hand would shut down at the CPU test. I was only getting 1-2 fps I'll deal with it later maybe.

 

that's all your suppose to get on the cpu test..you only have 2 cores..if it had as many cores as two gpus...then you would get in the 30's..

you may need to re adjust one or two things when running 3dmark...
3dmark isnt as voltage hungry as vantage is...

 

QX9300? 4 cores. I probably need to just tweak some stuff

 

it is normally in the low single digits. If it is shutting down means your OC is most likely not stable and you need to lower it

that is probably the one time..you can actually try to lower the voltage instead of the over clock..(speculation of course)

Not that I am throwing in the towel. Will do more runs when I got time. Got some bugs to work out on that driver though

 

The FPS when its testing is at 1fps, not sure why I am getting this, it tells me to disable FPS flush, I did, same issue, I tried lower settings and still same issue.
I have the integrated graphics disabled in BIOS, still same issue, not sure what else to do.

 

Wish i could do that. Still waiting on my m17x to return. getting a bit frustrated here. It has been gone more then a month now. They say the GTX 260 is out of stock and i said put in some ATI's but they say i would have to send it in seperatly for that because i would be buying something. Geuss dell europe is not the same as dell US

 

Is it just me, or did I unknowingly obtain a pair of ATI's? The little red asterik on the first page would lead me to believe this....

Also, I'm not entirely positive on this as it would blow my mind, but does Rengsey have a higher GPU score than Drake?

 

Drake has a higher GPU score. I'm still trying and won't be able to catch up with him. lol

It still stands john. This is my 3rd QX9300. lol of course I returned the first one (QX9300 ES dressed up as OEM from HP) second one never OC past 3.22x Ghz , and this third one is the lucky one.

Well I upped my scores again. But it seemed like this was all my computer wanted. After this it began to shut down and every run with higher gpu clocks would slow down Guess I'll give the computer a rest and get back to it another time. How you do it Mandrake is a mystery to me.

Dirt 2 benchmark with everything on max/ultra settings except for vehicle reflections. I have to put that on high because I get an unplayable fps on ultra (20-25)

1920x1200 resolution 2x AA sli on

I guess all 4 QX9300 procs I had were "lucky" then.

 

Totally must have been those procs that were "lucky"...

Also, question for Don and Scook- when you guys were using Dox's driver, how the hell did you get it to install? Every time I try, I get a 'compatible hardware not detected' error. Right now I'm still using 186.64, and can't get my GPU jacked up much past 11.6k.

what are you settings and clocks etc you are trying to do?

 

Special place in my heart for anyone still with 280's.

So, driver version (as stated) is 186.64, and I'm able to get stable benches with clock rates of 660/1060/1650.

I can usually bump it up to 670/1070/1675, but so far every run I've done with those speeds drops the GPU score.

Have played around with leaving the memory clock lower/higher while raising/lowering the other two, but so far the best run I've had was just shy of 11.7k with 660/1060/1650, which makes me think I'm doing something wrong.

Learn me how to benchmark, O Wise One.

 

your memory is to low. you need to raise it up more. do 1070 or 1075. 1080 isn't really stable.

also i wouldnt recommend that driver. use dox 182.46.... nvidia 186.24 is good and you can overclock higher but your score is going to be lower.

I do have DX10 but it says it runs at DX9 or something, it might be 10 though idk.

Don, you need to up the GPU a tat bit more, so you can take the Nvidia highest GPU score back from Scook !!!

 

I only ran 3 runs with that driver haha.... It is on!
