very very very intresting to hear.

but isn't that a motherboard issue more then anything.

can some else post a screen shot of there unit. prefer sli/crossfire but single cards are good also.

The motherboard can only run 2 cards @ 8x.. Its a design thing... The W90 ran them both at 16x as did the 9262 i but both were using desktop chipsets :)..

    yes i remember the w90 and the np9262 doing 16x but the np9262 was pci-e 1.0 and the w90 was pci-e 2.0....

i know the whitebook is also 8x. i wonder how it would affect the gpu's?

how do you like that driver?

do you have the 9400m on also?

in vista it doesn't show it. it looks just like yours.

Any tips for getting over 13k on 3Dmark06 with the Microcenter M17x? I've already got the CPU OC'd to 2.4.

I've been messing around with OCing the GPUs, but that doesn't seem to make much of a difference...

I've got the core clocks and shader clocks both OCed about 10% with negligible results...

I'm currently hovering at around 12.5k.

i tried now 186.82 again. Qx9300 at 3.057ghz and no gpu oc

    3DMark06 scores:

    186.82 : around 14500 points
    186.91 : around 15600 points

still low score in comparison with vista but you can see the difference. try them too and tell me your results.

I also dont follow the recommended way to uninstall drivers (i mean safe mode etc) which caused even performance drops.

    i follow this.

    - i enable hybrid sli in bios
    - i uninstall nvidia display driver using driver sweeper
    - reboot
    - after reboot immediately install the new driver
    - then reboot again.
    - after reboot you can disable intergrated graphics again and run benchmark

its much faster and works ok for me giving me always the expected benchmark results.

i am waiting for your results. your cpu is different but the score difference will say the truth.

i will try with 186.91 now with the sli update 3 to see if the score will drop as i expect (the bad thing i have to uninstall the drivers again to get rid of sli update 3). however 3dmark06 is supported in sli anyway with 186.xx drivers and i may not see any difference

did you double click on it or you pressed right click extract? just double click it and it will extract by its own. also dont forget to use the additional inf

Update 186.91 drivers with sli update 3 got a higher score (15906) :) always with Qx9300 at 3.057ghz and no gpu oc and win7 x64 ultimate

but performance in games is not always better and i get fps drops -stutter very often. any ideas for this?

186.91 doesn't work for me. 280m just cramble in anything. 06 i start out with 3fps instead of 98fps. it's so bad. but hybrid works on it.

my M17X stopped working before a few weeks. i was pressing power button and nothing happened. so they changed my whole motherboard. i hope its really new and not used-fixed. my machine was fixed by a technician who came home and replaced the motherboard in less than 24 since i called dell

thats really weird.... did you uninstall using driver sweeper? by the way if eset runs at the background i get a 20fps drop during playing red faction guerilla. but when i get this drop its stable. if i close eset i get more than 52fps but fps drops very often.

lol I try. I'm to picky. That's my problem. If I overclock my CPU and I was stable at 3.987ghz and then i'm at 3.986ghz. I'm going o spend weeks on it until I find out why. And the world stops for me until I find out.

right now i'm in acouple things i'm trying to figure out. Stealth mode doesn't work unless you plug in your system put it on and then plug it out. You can't start your on battery and turn on stealth mode.

the drivers and why can't I install any driver I want to.

I found out why my system freezes already when installing new drivers and what to do with that. I found out the black screen of can't see nothing. And slot more.

I need to relax though lol.

with that driver, does the 9400m work. I'm just doing some test with that also.........

also 186.81 supports hybrid Ali and it works like butter for those who like to have the 9400m on with discrete gpu's.

    where's all the benchmarkers at?

i'll keep this thread busy then :)

so I ran stock runs on vantage and my gpu score hardly broke over 10,000... Scook9 are you sure you where stock CPU?

I remember chaz with his unit also had trouble breaking 10,000 on the gpu with his stock qx9300. When he brought I up to 2.93 or 3.07, he then break 10k.

I have a take home test tonight. :( I wanted to do some real world benchmarks. :(

    GPU: 10238

I do not have that 10400 run saved, as like I said, it was not a high overall score - which was my goal

I was running a QX9300 though, maybe the extra cores actually helped some lol

I think you guys need to define stock. Scook's hardware is not stock. Plus 3D settings, do those have to be stock?

    stock can mean different things.

stock gpu and stock gpu and bone stock with no mods.

i personally always do stock gpu overclocked cpu unless it's otherwise stated.

How was the run I posted not stock? By stock I meant all devices at stock speeds. Yes I upgraded my memory, but it is still stock speed and timings.

You can tweak anything you want in software, is what I did. The only rule is all clocks must be stock ;)

    is that dx9 or dx10?

and judging by your 8 degree difference...seems one gpu is working harder than the other...

    that is dx10

it's always like this in win7 and in vista. right now i'm in win7 which separates the gpu up to 10degrees apart.
