Where they trying to give you a single 260m or dual 260s?

...if they were going to give you dual 260s, how on earth is that not a suitable replacement for dual 8800s?

 

For the third time my computer is supposed to be built tomorrow, thus far iv got a free wireless router out of it

 

Single 260m.

I basically reasoned with them that I had originally ordered the top-of-the line vid card at the time for that model, and that getting a bottom-of-the-barrel card was not acceptable.

I said I should get the best card I can get to equal the monetary value of the original.

 

Out for Delivery.. if UPS f***s around on me ONE SINGLE DAY MORE I'm going to flip out. This machine could have been delivered 3 days ago.

 

That sucks! I heard UPS was bad in the UK, sorry for that, thank god they rund like clockwork here in Los Angeles. Then again, I'm gonna try to pull all the strings I can when it gets to my area. (My company tows UPS trucks, and sometimes helps out employees with their vehicles.)

 

Dell uses FedEx in the US.

Mine's supposed to ship today. The automated Dell lady tells me it's still in the "Build Stage" and when I say continue to find out when it ships all she says is "That's all the information I have at this time."

So... does that mean it's going to ship today or get held?

 

Probably held, because it's supposed to go through Delivery Prep first, then the next phase is Delivery. They're pretty bad about updating the actual EDD until it physically ships unfortunateyl.

 

Well, I found one pretty much like the one I ordered except for the color and hd. Black instead of silver, 500GB HD instead of 320. It's also about $500 less. I may end up cancelling my order and just going out to buy that one.

 

I'm in boxing today and I ordered on Monday...lol

EDIT: Yep, my order was delayed.

 

I contacted the resolution specialist I was talking to when I canceled my first order and I asked him to expedite this order.

I'm new to this Forum so I thought I'd post my current M17x order. I can't wait to get this laptop and play with it!

Order Date = 10/23/09
EDD = 11/09/09

 

Pretty sweet that Mandrake was able to get his expedited so fast.

 

I noticed that you and I have just about the same order date and EDO. Here's hoping they actually get shipped out to meet that date.

 

I definitely hope so! I called Dell support and supposedly no parts are on back order at this time.

Hopefully you have better luck than I did. I ordered on the 21st and it got delayed to the 18th of November. I cancelled both of my orders, just going to buy it in a store. It's close enough to how I had mine specced out and it's quite a bit less in cost. I'm just tired of waiting.

 

I dont blame you for being impatient Dagnanicus. I also canceled my previous order because it was delayed over the ATI cards.

 

It is indeed difficult to wait so long for a new laptop. From everything I've read and seen though, it'll be worth it!

 

Oh I have no doubt it will be worth it. I remember seeing one when they were first released and not being able to stop drooling over it (not literally drooling, but it was pretty close!). I've wanted one since, but haven't been able to afford one and I didn't see too much of a point upgrading from my Qosmio. Visual Studio and other programs have made me see a point in upgrading.

Well, I got word back from Dell. They couldn't cancel it for whatever reason, but they did discount it a little bit and offer to expediate it. When I asked for a shipping upgrade I got flatout told "no, there's no way." so we'll see. Guess it's still on order, as sad as that makes me.

If I get delayed again I'll cancel it, and now I have a rep I can order it through so not all bad.

Grats all, I received my system finally this past Monday. Have been working on getting it to run optimal. Once you get it, you will see the wait is worth it. AMAZING Computers...

 

I called them.

I just got an email saying it was canceled because I wouldn't give consent to continue the order (Woo!) so I get to reorder it with my sales rep and we'll see how it goes.

 

I was going to say that the delay email has an email address on it to cancel orders.

That's exactly what I ordered. I have the intention of upgrading both the hdd and memory.

 

I'll probably upgrade at some point, but it'll be fine for me for now.

 

I feel like I have watched just about every unboxing video on youtube to bide my time till mine arrives

 

OK Figured it out in a short amount of time and ordered my new SSD....now my system will probably arrive next week so I sit and wait.

 

I ordered My M17x with the lower res screen and dont know if i should keep it or try and return it when i get it in 2 weeks. If i do want to return it, does anyone know if they charge the restocking fee? Is it even gonna be worth the hassle for the 1200p screen or is there not that much diff cause i dont have a blu ray player anyways

 

Cant wait to see what kind of numbers you get out of this machine and i think i more anxious to see if that Qx9300 is as capable as the last one ... To be continued ....

 

Unless you having issues with the machine they might try and hit you with a 15% restocking fee on the return.. Some people can get by without having to pay it but others are not so lucky...

Personally i would have to get the 1920x1200 screen regardless of blurays .. Its that much nicer but then again if you have nothing to compare it to then you maybe be fine with 1440x900.. Just wait till you get it and then start worrying about it ..

 

Ha thats good advice because i wouldnt have known the diff if i didnt do research on it. My best latop was a latitude d810 from dell that has a screen res of 1280X800 for a 15.4 inch and a ati radeon x700.
Maybe ill tell em i thought it came with the screen and they will let me return it.

Anyone have good advice on a 24-28 inch monitor was looking at the dell s2409w for $219. 200-400 is the price range really. (Thats how ill justify saving 150 on the lower screen res

 

If you watch a lot of movies , be it a download or DVDs or back-ups, Having a high res is a must. especially if you are mobile most of the time and need to kill time by watching a flick.

Also, you can look at this way. Most members here have mentioned, when you order an expensive laptop, make sure you upgrade the options now where you know, you could not upgrade later. High res screen and GPU is top priority. There are members here who have regret not getting those, anbd is asking around to upgrade..lol...lesson learn.

It just gets better, in the process now of seeing if they can just (*^(& ship the damn thing and ill download the app at a later date.
