Rengsey R. H. Jr. I Never Slept
-
Never called me back, no surprise there.
Edit**
Called me back at 9pm, its apparently going to be built on monday, shipped on tuesday. Heard "it will be built tomorrow" 4 times already so im not holding my breath. -
Just used the backdoor order status line.
Your computer is in the "Boxing" stage.
w00t!!!
BTW, for the backdoor line:
1(800)283-2210
Option 3
then press 2
then press 1
then press 1
it will then prompt you for your order number. -
The beast just arrived at the Office, UPS delivered only 1 day late.
Need to go there and pick it up and then home and kickstart the weekend with a beer and some benchmarks!

Excellent. So far I'm loving this machine, its FAST!!!
-
I plan on creating a "How to maximize your SSD performance in the M17x" guide also. If I'm going to do it to my machine anyway I might as well document it. -
Mandrake an SSD optimization guide would be great, i got 1x256Gb SSD installed from the begining.
Is there something you should turn off/tune by default from the start?
I think i got Vista 64 and not Win7 installed, have to check that when i boot it up tonight, i plan to install Win7 as soon as i get my upgrade DVD from Dell.

The first thing you need to check is the firmware version of the disk. If it's the old one you then should return it. Post it when you get it. There are multiple ways to get the firmware. Looking at the hardware string in device manager or right on the drive if you open it up.

Hi all, Ive been watching the thread and decided to post "the same old story".
I have an M17x ordered to replace an m1730 that died. I wont get started on all the lies and BS Dell gave me before I finally got a good tech that offered a replacement. There was however some confusion about when and how I would get the new system and specifically what it would be. I talked to the tech on 11.3 and she said I would get a call back on 11.16 to discuss the new system. After a couple days of being unable to work I decided to call back to expedite this and this tech said I didnt have to wait and the system was already in production. That was on 11.5, yesterday. I received an order number and saw that it was in production, however there was no estimated ship date. I saw from this site the number to call and found out I was in the boxing phase and would ship on 11.16.
OK at least now I have a date. I called later last nite to let my wife hear and it had a different ship date, today 11.6. Awesome!
So I pressed my luck and called back again this morning, and this time the ship date was 11.18, !!??
Has anyone else experienced the fluxuation of ship dates like this?
T9600 2.8
4 GB 1066
320 GB 7200 rpm hd
GTX 260 SLI -
Yes, don't worry about what it says about ship dates. It does change sometimes.
-
Well I officially got the order delay email again. EDD 11/18/09 Is it my P8600 causing the delay? I'm in the same boat as a couple guys here ordering on or around the 10/21. I'll try my sales rep tonight. unless there someone else I can call to get things done.
-
Welp... my 11/6 expedite day has come and my order still shows it in production. If they expected to make my original EDD, it should have to ship by this afternoon at the latest. I'll call customer service later today and see if they can get me more information.

eeerrrrr ...
just called them .. (800-624-9897 Customer Care Line) and was also told that mine is delayed due to some production delays, no components specifics though just overall high system demand ... Order date was : 10.18.09, in production since 10.27.09
that's lame ... oh well, nothing else that I can do rather than canceling it... -
I've been told it's now a shortage in the WXUGA screens is why my order's been delayed. Lame.
-
So after I tired of playing the automated line's "random date generator", I decided to call and find out what the "true" status is. After the person laughed when I said the automated line keeps giving me random dates, she said it WILL be here by next Thursday, but probably before that.

Yet another person (finally) getting upgraded from the XPS M1730 says hi. Hi guys
-
-
Yes, nice replacement with the qx9300. I've sent my 4 year old Thinkpad in twice this year for parts replacement and they never seem to run out of parts.
-
Yet another update. I called the number I had for my sales rep and it asked for a 7 digit extension, which wouldn't be a problem except I had a 5 digit extension from the sales rep in my email. Anyway I finally got customer service from that line and asked why the delay. She couldn't give me a specific item that caused the delay but she did expedite the order and upgraded me to next day shipping.
Best customer service I've received so far. -
I ordered a m17x in October where the estimated delivery time was 3 weeks. I checked this morning and see they have change the delivery time to 4 weeks. Is this a typical delivery time (3-4 weeks) or is it due to OS change (windows 7) or parts delay?
This is the first Alienware system I have purchased and I'm surprised at the length of time for it to be manufactured/shipped compared to Dell systems that you in get in less than 2 weeks.
But then, I did order it almost fully loaded (Extreme Quad QX9300, 8GB memory and CrossfireX). -
My order was put in on Oct 8, delivered on the 27th, but them my order was a replacement for my 1730.

mine is on a truck gallivanting around the city soon to be in my loving arms
-
I spoke with CSR and got told it's in production and scheduled for completion on Nov 13 (I ordered it October 22) and with shipping it would arrive on Nov 19. I didn't get a good reason for the delay. However when they saw the order was for Alienware, there was a deep sigh.
Also I haven't received email from Dell yet about the delay. -
confirmed by two reps, my system will ship out 11/9 with an arrival date of 11/10.
now to schedule a tech to come replace that 260 with 280s.... -
And as others have also pointed out in the Dell forum, the QX9300 is a massive upgrade, and I'm looking forward to giving it a test. Well, I'm firstly looking forward to having a desktop that renders smoothly again instead of a few FPS, but after that, I'm looking forward to testing it -

question though
the "my alienware pc information" file makes it look like i only have one video card, where in windows 7 do i find what is on here? the device manager says somthign about an nvidia 9400...... -
@B1zzle: Time for you to hit the owners lounge. Try hitting FN+F7.
-
you basically tell him that. they should be able to schedule a tech.
-
I am crossing my toes cuz I just took a leap of faith based on a lot of posts here.
Ordered:
M17x
Silver Metallic
Q9000 2.0GHZ
4GB DD3
260M GTX 1GB
250GB HDD 7200RPM
WIN 7 HOME 64-bit (ugh!)
DVD/RW
Bluetooth 2
Estimated delivery December 1.
After reading some GPU related posts here, should I have ordered this with the 280M SLI? -
If your primary goal is gaming both cards will do just fine. -
Mine is set to ship on Nov 18th. Ordered it on Oct 23rd.
-
Got my delay email today after I knew it was going to happen after the ship date was no longer being said on the phone number on Fir, when it was to originally ship. Ordered on 10/17 and revised EDD is now 11/17...
-
The 30th is going to take so long to get here.
Counting a reorder, I've been waiting since Oct 21st. -
I ordered mine on the 27th of October, it just finally progressed past "Order Received", unacceptable, terrible experience thus far.
-
Mine was in order processing for a week, it didn't effect the EDD at all. I wouldn't sweat it too much as long as they didn't have a problem with the payment method.
-
Mine is finally on its way. Priority shipping says it should be here tomorrow. I took a lot of fighting to get the replacement. Ironically I got an automated call from dell today saying my replacement parts are are back order. I'm assuming they mean the 9800 gt's for the M1730 thats getting replaced, lol.
-
Mine was scheduled to shop today. However it is still listed as in production. I emailed the rep who I dealt with during the sale. Asked what the status was and if it was going to be delayed. Accrding to him, there are no manufacturing parts on hold and that the new date for ship out is the Nov 11th. Certainly hope this isnt the start of a delay pattern.
-
Looks like they're having a lot of delays lately... I was told they get so many orders they can't keep up when I called in before. The sales rep said all the parts are in-stock when I reordered (11/5/09)
-
-
-
With mine out of the way it should.
Unfortunately it will beat my SSD here. That has not been shipped yet. -
alright. Looking forward to you tinkering with the ATI system to see how you feel about drivers. 9.1 catalysts install but bug out a lot of the features of the M17x..
-
-
Ok, so I didnt realize that I had received another email from the rep.
Hi josh ,

The details from the mail { This order has been expedited on 11/09
Please allow at least 3 business day lead times for systems to enter into production.
Please note that this expedite approval only makes the attempt to accelerate the production of the system and does not change the noted method of delivery on the order.
A shipping date of this system cannot be provided however assure to work on it as quick as possible } rest I am personally sending mails to all the concerned in order management .
