So last week a customer service rep said they would give me a $75 voucher to use on dell.com since they mistakenly told me to send my XPS backpack in with the M1730. Said it would be 24-48 hours, that was last Monday. I called back and some Dbag said the reference I used didnt exist and NO he would not do A new one since the AW was more expensive than my M1730. I called back Thursday last week and another rep said my first request must have gotten lost, will do another one, but it only for $25. Thats ok I guess, The AW bag is $99, so I have to pony up 74 instead of 99. She said I would get the voucher in my email within 3-5 days. I have a feeling this one will disappear too.
Has anyone else gotten one of these vouchers? How long did it take? -

Its the full windows install DVD, just with the AW logo on it.

You should be able to get that delivered by Christmas. If you would have gotten the SSDs pre-installed, it may have made things a little dodgey though.

I am getting rather furious over this ordeal now. Ordered on 10/17 and delayed 3 times to 12/3 now. All I get is foreign support with bad english reading a script and not offering to help one bit. And to make matters worse people who have ordered theirs weeks after mine have theirs already. I didn't order SSD or anything fancy and it's been in the build phase for over 5 weeks now.
I'm off all day tomorrow and going to call demanding US support and going to get an answer. This is horrid customer service! I need this for work more than fun and I'm tired of the same scripted answers... -
Did you buy it through home or EPP? To be honest, I've noticed the Dell support for EPP is head and shoulders better than what the rest of the public gets with Dell Home. With EPP you get assigned your own agent that keeps track of your individual order throughout the process and answers all e-mails and concerns. I think manufacturing delays are out of their control however. I'd suggest canceling your order and re-ordering through EPP (PM me and I can give you some pointers on how to get this).
Edit: A couple people here asked if others had the trackpad spaz out if the system was tilted 45 degrees. I tested mine at 45, 60 and 90 degrees and the trackpad worked perfectly. Right clicking the menus kept them there just as they would if the system was flat. So you may want to look into your software configurations to make sure something isn't causing a conflict. -

Well just got off phone after seeing a few postive posts of boxing and shipping, but not me...lol. Delay #5 for me and no end in sight.

we got a leak mate !! I just got of the phone and was told that it still could be a possibility of a delay , as for those who qualified for the free TactX headset and mouse, they are still waiting for the items to be in-stock (my online ETA status for the headset and mouse was up-dated few days ago and has an indication of the new ETA : 12.17.09 :// ). Apparently the headset and mouse are backordered and they will not ship the system by itself in a separate box , but would rather wait for the items to arrive and only after will deliver everything together in the same package.

Even their automated system says items will be shipped separately if a certain item is delayed.

lol ... just spoke with some other random dude @ Dell and according to him, the other rep's statement about a possible delay due to the peripheries/accessories would be irrelevant, as they always ship add-ons separately from the actual system.

I keep seeing references to "QX9300". Are you people upgrading the processor yourself or sending the unit back to Dell? Asking because mine has a Q9000 and would like to know how much this thing cost and how easy it is to upgrade.

Most are self upgrading. It is $502 + shipping and tax from HP.

I just re-ordered. HP took their sweet time to refund my $$$. This time I won't kill the QX9300 to find it's true meaning.
Mandrake: Whats your price for your QX9300? If it's good, i'll go your route and [X] out the order I just made. -
Haven't set one yet. I only used it for two hours, hoping to recoup as much of the money I spent on it as I can.

OMG. Hey forum, no one really listened to my last post which was on page 73, but now my M17x has been delayed again for a fourth time...I've called so many times asking where it is and what is the hold up but I've been redirected so many times and I'm not sure to the right people. I ordered it on Oct. 23rd/ 2009, and now it's been rescheduled to deliver on the 8th of December! The original EDD was Nov. 9th...Who do I call to find out about the hold up and is there any way to speed up this process? I really can't wait any longer and I'm afraid they're gonna delay it again. I'm moving after new years and I don't want that to complicate matters. Would it be a part that is not in stock or something that is slowing this down? These are my specs:
Intel Core2 Extreme Quad QX9300 2.53GHz (12MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz 2 x 4096MB
SLI Dual 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA GeForce (NB10E-GTX1)
640GB,5400RPM WD ML320,XL
Those are the only ones that seem important but I can post more specs if needed. Just someone please help me out here and give me some answers. -

Wow I'm stunned... I'm in boxing. After 52 days, a couple delays, 3 cancellations (2 by Dell) I'm in boxing.

What route did you order through. Phone, online, EPP? I have so many numbers written down I don't know where they go to anymore but the latest I used to get to customer care was 1-800-456-3355. But that's not a direct line by any means. I eventually ended up with a customer care rep that has a 7 digit extension but initially it took several transfers to get to someone. Once I got a rep they expedited the order and gave me free next day but I still had problems including the two cancellations by Dell. It wasn't until this last reorder on 11/19 that I got results and boxing on 11/24 -
I ordered online, I just got off the phone with a foreign rep, no offense, but when I need something I really want to understand them. And all she told me was that 'we're doing everything we can, and there's a demand on that product, and blah blah blah'...typical talk. And what exactly does it mean to expedite?

I don't think I should. First off, it isn't me who is buying this. My friend is getting this laptop as a gift, so it's in my name but under his money, but I have certain access to calling them and asking about the product and such, I can't cancel it and just reorder it that easily. Is there any way I can expedite this thing? If so, how?

I just got off the phone again, and they already said it was 'uncommon' that my machine was so far delayed, and that it was on high top priority and that they do not see any further delays and it should be delivered before the 8th of December. idk really. I just think it's too far into it to cancel. I'm gonna wait it out.

Well, English wouldnt be my first language either , but at least Im trying to maximize the effort of having an ability for others to understand me. -
I ordered mine through a sales rep also. That seems to be the x-factor on which orders get through and which ones don't . Dell's IT systems suck . They still show mine as in production on the website, but FedEx is about 20 minutes out with the delivery.
The only thing the website did properly was bill me. All the credible information I got was through my sales rep. -

I still have my unit that I ordered on the 19th of October in production - they refused to let me cancel it - claim I have to receive it then ship it back.
I ordered my new unit through a live rep on November 16th...and it is on the truck for delivery today. 8 days later. I dropped the SSD's from this order and all delays went away. -
