That's why I called and canceled my web order and made a new one which has shipped in less than a week after I was waiting since 10/17 on my original order. It seems they have switched some part numbers around (the Black Chassis was a new part number vs. the one on my order, my Rep couldn't find the old one) or something. At any rate I'll have mine in 2 days and I'm finally getting excited about it![]()

Well my system is in my hands thanks to my brother-in-law working at FedEx he was able to catch it and have me pick it up during lunch. This thing is a monster and a sight to behold. Never thought I'd have a reaction like this since I've seen a lot of laptops in the line of work I'm in. So far I'm really happy with the system and can't wait to get off work now
The process to get my system on the other hand... the original order was Oct. 3. Reorder Oct. 21 which was my doing because I wanted to change the configuration from the first delay. 2 delays and 2 cancellations by Dell themselves put me at a 4th reorder. After this 4th reorder on Nov. 19 it took 11 days to get to my doorstep. From what I can tell on this forum the systems are getting pushed through faster now.
If anyone is getting delays, you need to get in touch with sales or customer care. Be patient and be persistent. I nearly quit on my order but I finally got a product. -
Order Update!! I placed my first order on 11-20 and then low and behold on Black Friday I got a notification thru my RSS feed that I could get a $200 discount when I order $200 or more in upgrades (expiring on Dec 1st). Since I already had a lot more than $200 invested in upgrades I decided to give Dell a call and see if I could take advantage of this special. Mind you, I placed my order on the 20th however it did not go into production until Monday the 23rd. So the first person I talk to tells me that the discount can only be added at the point of sell (which I kinda figured anyways) so I asked if I could cancel my order and resubmit a new order. The CSR told me that was not possible because there is a point in the production process that once your order has passed it, can not be canceled for any reason. The proper method is to wait until the product is received, and then send it back for a refund. I explained how if the production was not in the boxing phase, why could I not cancel the order since it wasn't actually assembled. More so, I wasn't changing any of my specs from the my order, just wanting to cancel and reorder the same exact product. Again she told me there was no possible way to do it, and that she was sorry she couldn't be of any help. So then (and here is the kicker) I ask her where in Dell's documentation is it stated that cancellations will no longer be accepted and at which stage in particular is this. I ask for her to send this documentation to me so that I could review the terms and conditions myself. After a long awkward pause, she states well sir I can not provide that for you. You will just have to send the laptop back when you get it. I told her when I get it, the $200 discount will not available and if it was a policy of Dell it should be in writing and I would like a copy. She again tells me this is not possible while apologizing profusely, so I ask to speak to someone whom has more knowledge on the policy and explain to me why I can not see this documentation. She told me that they would tell me the same exact thing and I told her, well please put them on the phone because I would like to hear this from a manager. I get placed on hold for 18mins.
Mannessh (sp?) the floor manager finally picks up and I explain the situation and ask for the policy and to my surprise, there isn't an ACTUAL policy written that states when a order can or can not be canceled but told me he would check with the Production team to see how far along in the build process my order was. After a couple of minutes he comes back on and says that the Production team said that it was ok for me to cancel my order and reorder to get the discount. He actually took the time and cancel the order for me, contacted the Dell Preferred Customer center and got my account credited and allowed me to immediately resubmit my order while he waited on the phone! Talk about kick azz service!! After the transaction was done, he states that after a product as been assembled they inform customers that they are unable to cancel their order but he is unaware of any documentation that actually expresses this. I thank him for his time and my new order was placed on the 27th.
ESD: 12/16 and with the discount I was able to toss in a backpack and switch my shipping to 2nd Business Day and save $90! (Technically, all I wanted in the first place was the Alienware Orion Backpack which I told him but he couldn't just throw it into the order, I had to reorder)
So for those who have had tough times with the customer service department be persistent and make sure you ask for a manager. Mannessh was completely professional and patient and he made my day. The whole ordeal only cost me a 4 day delay in shipping from my original ESD, and my order is now back in the build phase!! Waiting Impatiently Again!! -

Congratz Digital1337!! One thing I am noticing as of late... The standard order to shipping date has been around 20 days, but some people lately have been receiving their systems earlier. My question is, for those whom the order to shipment timeframe was around a week to 10 days, did your order status reflect this or was your item already being shipped even though the website had the status still set for "In Production"? Just wondering.

Mine shipped early by a week and a half. On the order status site it said "shipped" way before it shipped and i got an email from the carrier. EDD never changed.

Ordrer was canceld after 6 weeks no one called just showed up canceld, can someone please help me out on my reorder on how to get best discounts and who to call (EPP) and what numbers to call to get this thing moving and to me ASAP.....thanks

And to answer your question: Yeah well , my order status was getting constantly up-dated pretty much on time ... the longest up-date interference was probably about an hour or so (yep, was checking it pretty often..lol), but then again I had so many issues with Dell before getting my final order placed on the 17th of Nov. (took 6 days from the actual placing date to a shipment confirmation), it was just a horrible process until I've reached that truly awesome rep. (Douglas if you read this , kudos to you dude!)

Gotta give props to u Digital ur guy hooked me up on my reorder even upgraded a little, got me 10% epp, 3% for using dell account, $200 off for $200 in upgrades, I used 2 more codes to get $50 more off, also got a $50 gift card. More importantly having a north american sales rep to be able to call and get a return call within 2 hours and even promised biweekly update emails after the first week of production. So in the long haul delays and canceled orders might be best bet for me. Just keep em crossed that this one goes better.

I have a question... Everyone using the EPP. Do you have to actually confirm you work for someone that would get the EPP?
My wife works for a hospital that gets a discount through dell. But she hasn't been able to find the info recently.
I also have a buddy who works for Gamestop and they get I think 10% or maybe 15% off Dell/Alienware. So was gonna use one of those when I'm ready to order.
Obviously if I use my wife it will be fine.
But what if i don't and just go through the del.com/epp do I have to show proof that I work for someone? -
Family members count and no they don't check. I would guess sooner or later their policy on that would change but it's been the same for years.

Just received my first Order Delay email!
My heart sank at first debating on whether to open the email up or not. After not being able to live without knowing, I click it to find out that my Orion Laptop Backpack has been delayed from 12/2 to 12/7. Not sure why it could get thru two days of build production and then shifts to delay. I am hoping this bad luck doesn't spill into my M17x. Luckily its two different order numbers whom are not connected in terms of shipping. Breathing better now...but only slightly!

Just an update, my laptop finally went through a sorting center from FedEx and should be here on Dec 3rd. Can't wait!!! Also, my freebie TactX headset and mouse finally got filled and shipped today. They were backordered until the 17th of Dec but they shipped it today, actually ahead of the original date.

Update: Yesterday i was told my laptop was in the boxing phase. Now today I am told by 2 other representatives that it is just starting production and that I am wrong when I say that i was told that it was in the boxing phase. I am not sure what is going on with my order now.

Good Ole Dell! Gotta Luv Them! They sent me an email for a delay in my Alienware Orion Backpack which I confirmed when I called in this morning would be delivered on Dec 7th and guess what just showed up on my doorstep! The LAPTOP BAG! LOL Now the status has changed to shipped. So I guess what you hear from the phone service and what the website has listed isn't exactly always the same thing! Well Part 1 of the Alien Invasion has commenced! Sweet!

For God's sake I have been waiting over a month for this thing...they told me they don't see any further delays in the order and that I should get it by the 8th of Dec, so should I wait until the 8th rolls around and trust that they are telling the truth or what? -

I just had to get a credit issued since my 10% Student Discount didn't get applied and the site shows 12/18 as the shipping date so it might be close. You would have to get a rep that would personally try and expedite the order. I'm pretty sure that if I didn't go this route I would have gotten delay #4.
I really think it has to be a part number issue. As I said before when my order was placed again my Rep couldn't find the part number in my first order for the Black Chassis as there is now a new one and that makes me wonder if that what was holding me up. I'm just amazed at how much better my support has gotten since I went the EPP route, just wish I thought to have checked my old student link to begin with. -

Yeah that was my problem with the cancellation. Once I did that, I lost my headset and mouse. I was thinking on calling them back to see if they would consider adding it back on but I am going to leave "well enough" alone. I am sitting here checking out my Orion Laptop Backpack and its a well put together backpack. Its what I wanted the most and I already have headset and too many mice to count and if I had a choice I would pick up the Sidewinder x8 mouse which I will probably get eventually anyways. So if you want to keep your goodies...I would ride it out and see what they come back with! -

I had nothing but problems ordering mine online and original date of order was Oct. 16th got 6 delays and called a few times a week at the end, called on a Monday morning and was still scheduled for Dec 4th was even told 100% guarntee, but called back later that night and found out it was canceled by dell. With no reason or how long it was canceled. Went thru epp for the reorder and got some great upgrades and discounts and thinking Epp is the way to go, all this BS I had to put up with overseas operators and managers will probably benefit me in the end with a better machine at a much lower price. Lets just hope order 2 arrives sometime this year.

This thing is Amazing to say the least! Ran COD6 last night hooked up via HDMI to the 50" plasma just for kicks. The quality and clarity literally blew me away! Almost forgot that this was a laptop.
I have managed to screw up my Facial software I guess. Somehow I deleted my User database so I just turned it completely off until I have time to do some reading. I hear that its buggy so I may just disable it all together.
Other than that 2 thumbs up!
AW still hasn't shipped out my headset and mouse as promised, -

Sigh, my system is suppose to get here today... Fedex says out for delivery at 6:30am. It's now 1pm... i hate them for delivering to businesses first. Tick Tock, Tick Tock, all i feel is anticipation. Cant' wait to get it, and get back to my glad warlock. It was expected to get here on the 14th, so i'm really really happy for the earlier ship date. Then again dell knows they can't ship you the bill till after a month after delivery, so they'll try their best to get it to you asap. COME ON STUPID FEDEX GUY!!!!!
