*OFFICIAL* M17x Order Status Thread...*PART 2*

Ordered my M17x on Dec. 2 and got it the 11th. Aside from what i have listed on the bottom i also got the 1200p screen and a 128GB SSD.

 

My replacement was just dropped off, waiting for it to warm up to room temp. before I fire it up. Hopefully no problems with it!

Well the at dell jacked me for another $990 for my warranty. But I extended it out to 14 DEC 2014. SO it should be covered under complete care ect. for the next five years. And believe me when I say I'm going to get every bit of that $990 back in my investment. Oh and thats after haggling down from around $1250. I just feel like an idiot for not purchasing the 4 year warranty when I purchased my laptop. Although then it would have only been covered for 4 years and not five. So in 5 years my laptop might up and die and need a replacement Oh and they threw in a $75 gift card. Isn't that sweet of them. Any suggestions as to what I should use it for?

 

Ordered mine on Dec 11, in production Dec 12, invoiced Dec 13, shipped and truck closed Dec 14.

Now UPS site say "sent dec 21" WTH?

 

i ordered mine on dec 11th...says deliver on or before jan 8th...really hope it gets here sooner.

I had to call in to fight for the mouse and headset...i had no screen shot so what i got was an over the phone deal where they charged me full price and entered in an additional 130 dollar coupon code...so i got both for another 45 bucks. I also got the epp price and saved another 200 dollars.

What I'm trying to do now is get someone on the phone to accept the 100 coupon code that was just emailed to me this morning.

I ordered the 2.4gb duo, 1200p screen, 4gb ram, dual 260's space black model.

 

If anyone is ordering an Alienware, I got a $100 off coupon code. Let me know if you want it. It's valid only 15/16 Dec

 

JEEZZ!!! I was going to purchase the extended warranty but $990??!!??

 

yea, thats after haggling. Original price is over $1200 for full coverage so you get complete care as well. And my warranty on the laptop is for 5 years. I'm assuming several years down the line when they don't make the M17X my laptop might die.

 

So after sending in screen shot to customer care, I got a response from the manager of the original sales rep I dealt with containing order information for my headset and mouse. What is scaring me as that it shows 180 dollars in charges with payment method being: revenue adjustment.

Ive replied back but not sure whether they actually just charged me without my permission of it this is how they took care of honoring their promo. By knocking that dollar amount off my dell credit for the laptop and than adding it back by purchasing these two items or what.

If anyone has any light to shed on this or received a similar type deal please let me know. I am just dreading the thought I will have to start with credit disputes.

 

Well, it's no secret you're in a combat zone, so you got the Dell-good-deal combat zone warranty price.

Do you really need to extend it out to 5 years? That's an eternity for a laptop. By then the M17x will be like a Commodore 64 compared to the new stuff. I thought I held mine longer than most, and that was for 4 years, but only warranted for 3.

the same thing happend to me dell made me 15 dollars for them ohh and I ordered on the 11th he gave me free overnight shipping and it shipped the 15th so all is good

 

Well My M17X arrived today. I get mail at work since I'm in Iraq, somone from my team picks up mail everyday. I told the guy when it comes to just take it to his room. Otherwise he has to lug it up 144 stairs since we are on the 6th floor. But he thought I'd be excited to get it and I am. Estimated delivery date was 15 Jan and its 16 Dec. I was sure it would get here early but this is earlier then I thought. So now it's sitting on my desk till I get off work. Then when I get back I'll unbox it. Then after I unbox it's time to open up the beast and throw in some RAM and HDD and then when the QX gets in here that will get tossed it as well.

 

Woot! Congrats to you....this gives me hope that my january 6th due date might make it in sooner.

 

Yea I'm guessing it should. Mine shipped all the way to Baghdad. I phoned in the order from here on 27 Nov (black friday) and it shipped maybe 5-6 days later. Now I'm just staring at the box cuz I want to wait till I get it back to my room to open it and tinker with it.

hahaha definately, and lastnight I upgraded my warranty so I'm covered for 5 years (w/ complete care). Best to make sure you use protection. Don't want to make a mistake that I'll have to live with

Crap, shipped from china Dec 14. ETA in europe Dec 21, then 3 days with UPS to my door. Fat chance they will deliver on christmas eve...

Yeah the crossfires are killer when I first saw them in action it's just like.. wow.. this thing doesn't mess around.

 

Looks like mine wont be arriving till the day I get back to school from break. Wow. >_< Hope waiting is well worth the wait.. Until then I think ill just play GRID on ultra low with 800 x 600 resolution

 

I still have faith. The headphones that were scheduled for a jan 8th delivery shipped yesterday so i'm hoping the computer will follow suit and ship ummm.....today?!

 

WOOT! Happy day!!...just got an email from dell that my computer shipped out and the tracking info shows a dec 18th delivery day. Not bad considering i was prepared to wait until january 6th to get my hands on it.

 

NIce man! Congrats. Hope it gets there quick. Mine made it to Iraq in like under 3 weeks from order date (27 Nov) I was prepared to wait till Jan 15th and yesterday (Dec 16) I was sitting in my office reading the forum when my co-worker (who also gets our mail) walked in with my box. Pretty much at the same moment as me thinking, "I wish it would get here, Jan15th is a long way off" And Poof! I'm suprised he brought it up all 144 stairs (no elelvator) I told him when it gets here to just take it to his room across the street but he figured it'd get me happy. I was excited all day!

I am definately going to enjoy this laptop. I thought my 1720 was large. This thing is twice as thick. I hate change, but I can deal with it if it's for the better...much better. Just gotta get used to it.

 

the one i'm using now is an inspiron 9300 with a 2g pent m single core and 256 mb nvidia video card...this will serve as quite an upgrade.

 

Freakin yay. The M17x is landing today. I tracked the info on it and it's not a couple hours away from my house. OMG I can't wait.

 

how long is this thing supposed to stay in build phase? i ordered tues, and it hasnt moved from it since. ESD is Jan6th... think it will ship sooner?

 

Give it a minimum of 5 days. Normally the systems ship before the ESD but with the holidays it'll probably take longer.

 

I must be really unlucky here, but the replacement M17x that was sent to me also has problems. It just hangs randomly with the hard drive lights solid for 3-15m. I've gone through all the troubleshooting procedures and it looks like it's the motherboard again. 16 passes on Memtest86+ passed, full Alienware diags passed (boot menu and from resource DVD), three different hard drives with three clean installs of Win7 all do the same thing, the last one right after it went to the desktop before any drivers were loaded.

Has anyone else had major problems like these? I sent the person handling my first replacement an email since I didn't have time to call last night but I will be calling a little bit. All I want is a system that works...

 

I had a january 6th expected date (ordered on dec 10th) I got mine this morning YAY!!! along with the headset and mouse.

Just a quick note...when i installed the software for the mouse it disabled my alienware command center and i had to restore back to get it working again....tried again and same result.. so if you have the tactx mouse coming along with the system you might want to install it 1st to make sure you don't have the same problem.

 

Yeah, the driver of the mouse will disable the command center. I installed a fresh copy of windows 7 and just install the command center without installing the driverf from the mouse. It worked fine.

 

I ran mine all weekend it it is definately a beast....playing warcraft with all settings maxed and there's not a glitch.

There is a problem with the case however thats bumming me out..should have posted a picture....on the top of the case in the center/back portion there is that piece of plastic. when i shut the lid and look at the back of the laptop that plastic is seperated from the case by 1/8 of an inch or more. it's seperated the most right in the middle. I can see right inside the thing and see the cable for the monitor. This cannot be design intent can it?

I tried to find pictures on th enet to compare but there are none of the back of the system that i can find.

 

Mines shipping now Playing grid on Ultra low graphics with the smallest resolution in the universe is getting boring...

Just realized it shipped a lot earlier then expected, said the estimated ship date was the 29th...unless that means its ganna get to my state or something :S

 

Yeah, so i should have my new shiny M17x on the 29th. Can't wait.

Lol so my replacement M17x is in the works.. ETA Jan 15 2009.. Glad Dell decided to replace it completely after a botched motherboard replacement with incorrect serial no's.

 

mine came in today so freaking happy

 

My ESD for the M17X-R2 is 2/4/2010 - hope it comes a lot earlier though as I can't wait.

The orders look like they are going right into the build stage. That is a VERY good sign for early delivery.

 

Great! Any idea how early? And how do you know they're in the build stage? And what are the stages?

All I can think of is a build and ship stage

Awsome! So the boxing stage won't be too long because there will be quite a lot of other shipments heading to the US as the m17x-R2 has just released.

The thread doesn't tell you how long the building stage takes though. It just says, some people have reported that it has taken months. Any idea how long the building stage will take?

 

Minimum of 5 business days but yes it can take longer. That's when you start sending out emails to your rep to expedite your system and upgrade the shipping.

 

I've already upgraded my shipping to next business day on checkout

I hope something magical happens in the dell centres and we get them in a week
