The order is probably in their name.

 

It's because they are reselling the laptop to you. I happen to work for a OEM System Builder that sells high end storage servers and we ship to resellers all the time. They don't want any of their customers being able to see pricing and such when we blind ship to them. So I am sure the same is happening with your laptop. They should provide you with tracking info once they have it and reship it to you, but that's why they won't give out the Dell numbers to you.

dont u have to pay import duty for it when it arrives UK?? How much are u saving? Coz I got a quote of £2945 for a fully Maxed system(with BR reader). If ur way is cheaper I will as well go that route.

 

Are you actually using the m15x? I was afraid if I opened it they might give me trouble and charge restock fees, etc etc...

 

Sigh... same here... still in build stage, with a ship date of 02/04... well with next-day I might get it on a Friday or Saturday... it could be worse. Considering the demand if it ships then I will be satisfied.

yep my first one was black i don't like it, second one red love it, i have a silver m15x so i order a red m17x again because is the best color

Joined just for this thread.

I ordered my M17x on the 1/19/2010 (two days ago) and it was already in boxing yesterday (i used the backdoor number for DPA status). My EDD is 2/8/2010. I can't wait!


Also, how can you tell if it's an R1 vs R2?

 

Which processor did you get?

 

Parts:
P8600 (swapping with QX9300).
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz 2 x 2048MB
Dual 260m sli
2x160 HDD 7200rpm raid 0 (Swapping out as well)
DVD-rw/etc (BR was not avialable)

 

That's a R1. R2 have the i5 and i7 processor options.

Nope still in the build stage. Looks like our orders will take up the full eta or even be delayed. I hope Dell isn't short of rgb led parts this fast.

 

Just checked again... mine still shows build as well.... was hoping against all odds it might ship today and get it tomorrow.... then I came to my senses.

 

Haha yeah talk about wishful thinking! I think we'll be lucky if our systems make their original shipping date at this point.

 

Hehe, maybe Dell's system is malfunctioning and the orders are actually at boxing atm!

 

Out of curiousity, did you ever unbox the m15x even? I haven't sent mine back yet (just got the labels yesterday finally) and am debating unboxing it just to have some fun playing with it. I was told that since I upgraded there would be no restock fees... I just wonder if I open it if they will balk then...

 

I must be the only person with an order number thats actually hoping that the order is delayed.

I had my system for nearly a month so yeah I used it You should just send it back as it is for now. They get really anxious about sending back an item after you have the labels. When I was sending a system back to Dell, the agent that issued the return e-mailed me 3 times to make sure I was going to return it within the 5 day window.

 

I ordered an extra lid and that shipped. Not really surprising.

 

What's the extra lid for?

 

To experiment, maybe some customization. If I can find someone who does anodizing locally I can change the color.

 

An orange M17x (like the M6500) would be sweet.

 

The problem is most places around here only do commercial work.

 

Interesting thought... I may have to look into that too! Is it the same lid with the Alien head punchout?

Hmmm so what do you get exactly? Did you just specify a black lid or silver then?

 

No I gave them the part number. When calling for spare parts if you have the part number already it makes the transaction so much easier. I used Y750M which is the silver lid.

I would hate to have a chrome m17x tbh. My favourites would be green, orange or royal blue

I would dive at a powder blue or baby blue. But the best would be a metallic gun metal gray. Had a bike like that, and it was sweet looking. It was a BMW color

 

black chrome here is a blue paint vs. blue chrome nice here is anodized colors very nice too
