Finally arrived yesterday. It is massive Didn't come with the extra drive bay so I need to call up and sort that out ASAP. Also ordered my Win7 upgrade ETA is OCt-27.

 

Like icey_kitsune, I too am waiting for a M17x from the Mountain Dew Game Fuel contest. Wish Pepsi would get order/tracking numbers from Dell to give us. Mine was supposedly submitted with Dell on 10/02. Now it's just a waiting game, and I can't wait to get it!

My case manager e-mailed me and called me. It is coming tomorrow by 3PM from Fedex. He told me all Alienware are being expedited because of their popularity. Never thought mine would be here by tomorrow. So excited. I am getting this replacement because my 8800m gtx gpu's died and they agreed to this replacement.

M1730: 2.4ghz, 3mb L2, 2 gigs ram, 120gb HD, dual sli 1 gb 8800m gtx.
Brand New M17x: 2.8ghz, 6mb, 4 gigs ram, 160 HD, dual sli 2 gb 280m gtx.

 

Still build stage. Looking like it's going to be two weeks yet before I get mine.

 

I just emailed Dell's order support in hopes of getting a tracking number for the M17x.

icey_kitsune, if you get yours, let me know. If not, you may want to do the same. Just let them know the order was placed by Pepsi, or Young America (they ran the contest for Pepsi). Hopefully, we can get some order numbers so we can track our prizes.

 

Just called again, still in build but now they stopped saying it is going to ship on the 16th.

Also getting an m17X as a replacement for my M1730 with failing 9800M GT SLI gpu's.

Tech is giving me this spec, but i'm going to ask for dual crossfire cards instead of single. I'll make sure he adds it even if i have to pay 250£ as he suggested to upgrade.

Should I spring for the Extreme processor (I have to pay), and

WHY IS THE ATI CARD SHOWING UP AS DDR3 ON THE UK SITE??

well i got pepsi to give me an order number but they said its "pepsi's order number and wont do me any good" i tried to see if i couldnt use that and pepsi's headquarters zip to get status information from the orderstatus page but says the information is wrong.

im hoping it comes next week but who knows really, pepsi said dell was sent the information on the 24th of sept so i can only hope its shipped soon. im still working with a compal hel80 and its falling apart, case is cracked and its been getting slow, even if i reinstall the OS

 

My order status on my account says a delivery date of 10/21, but when I call the #,it says it's still in the build stage but it doesn't give a delivery date anymore.The omission of the delivery date also happened to me as I neared my orders' first delay. If I get delayed again, Dell's about to have a cancelled order.

 

This is my first post, but Ive been reading for a few months. Something amazing happened, i ordered it the 9 and its being delivered the 20th. I don't know but that seems fast. Im sorry if i sound like a dork im just so excitied. Never since alienware has a 22 year old man been screaming and jumping like a girl.

Well i just ordered the M17x they say it will be shipped the 6th of Nov... i really hope it doesnt take that long as i will just be leaving back to work then and i'll miss out for 2weeks.

I ordered my wifes M15x 7 days ago and its already on its way to the house. Maybe i can get that lucky

Cancelled my M17x order with Dell, I don't know what's up with them, but since I fixed my desktop, I can wait for what I really want.

edit: also, the guy I talked to on the cancellation line just said " your order has been cancelled". Didn't offer anything, he almost hung up on me, lol.

 

My M17x replacement arrived today at 3:23pm. Brand new with all the goodies. Came in a week. Pretty impressive.

 

Wait for a phone call from your sales rep any minute now : " Dude, wt(F) , why you canceled it ????"

And this is the part where free things are coming in..... .LOL !!!!

 

^^^^LOL Well in my case, they didnt call me, they offered me the freebie when I called and let them know of my dissatisfaction and that I was going to cancel.

 

This is the thing with me. The longer it delay, the more thinking I will do. If this delay any longer I might change my mind again. But then, I like the 18 months and the discount I got for the m17x, but at the same time, there is rumor of the refresh m17x.

How much longer do i have to wait for my m17x????

Note: Like mandrake and the rest of the people that has an order for the m17x, I also don't have an eta ship date.

 

^^^ The 18 month no interest is at least part of why I canceled my last order. Definitely better then 12 months thats for sure. im most likely going to order next week when I know for sure that Win 7 will already be loaded on the system. im leaning towards the ATIs but im still considering the 280s too.

Now mine should be here in about a week, judging by the time between our order dates from Pepsi.

 

specs were 2.53ghz c2d, 4 gb ram, single 1gb 260m nvidia card, black case (not red like i remember also remember them saying it was a higher speed processor but whatever) and 250gb hard drive.

sadly i am prolly going to have to send it back cause when i push the monitor back it seems to loose half its lines

 

My EDD changed to Nov 11. Since I'm in build I don't expect it to take another 3 weeks.

 

If it's in build you will probably have it in a little over a week I would imagine.

 

Yeah I'm hoping it will go into boxing early next week.

Yes I did Mandrake. WHen I did placed the order, I asked my rep to expedite it. I also sent two e-mail the day after I did the order.

One to sales rep stating " Please expedite my order, the longer I wait, the more I will think about my purchase and might want to cancel if it takes too long".

One to CS stating " Hello XXXX, I just re-ordered my m17x, please look into this and expedite this order 908XXXXXX. Thank you for your time".

 

Ugh.... sorry to hear that. You wait so long for it and it's defective.

Also strange that they didn't send the specs that former winners got.

 

Only a week? I ordered mine 01 OCT 09 and the EDD is 29 OCT 09. Maybe I should have tried your "expedite" email trick.

 

Should work if you called in the order.

 

I called in and did the order over the phone + two emails the day after.

Yeah if you keep on them you can get it delievered pretty quickly. My wifeys M15x i was able to get ordered and delievered in 8 days. I ordered it last friday and it was delievered to our house today at 1300 So not a bad turn around.

I ordered my M17x yesterday and i figure i'll give my agent a call monday afternoon to make sure its all going well then again thursday to ensure it will be ready for shipping by friday/monday. I refuse to have to wait until the 6th of November to get it

 

I ordered 9/26 and it now says 11/11. lol! If I was still in pre-production I would have canceled.

 

They must be having some serious issues with the ATI cards then.....

 

Yeah, There's a behind the scene battle between the 9400m and the 4870s Crossfire that we don't know about.

 

Dang, that is an insanely long time to have to wait for those cards... almost two months.

Has your agent given you any hint at why its taking so long?

 

I'm a little concerned about the 2.53ghz processor, that one's 3mb cache, when Pepsi specifically said 6mb cache CPU on the prize details. Seems like we're getting a little ripped off at the end of the contest. If mine shows up the same way as yours, I may call Pepsi and find out why this is... and why they're not matching specs shown in prize details. Not complaining too much, because after all, we won them... however, the fact that we know previous winner's specs and we're getting less is a little annoying.

 

Hey guys. Long time reader, first time poster.

So, I've been following this thread... particularly some of the unfortunate delays you guys have experienced. This being my first Alienware, I was wondering if you guys can help me decipher some information:

The phone number the OP posted says that my order is in "Boxing" stage. Dell's online order status page says the order is "In Production". A live Dell representative says that "The order is being built, but we don't know what stage it is in".

Which one of these should I trust? If it helps, my order date was Oct. 10th, 2009.

Ordered 2 weeks after I did and your in boxing, nice. Believe the automated line. You should be getting it soon.

 

Yeah man, I've read about the delays you've had, real sorry to hear about it . To be honest, I'm justifiably suspicious of the "Boxing" stage, particularly after reading the order status wiki.

If I do get it soon, I'd be more than happy to post benchmarks or anything like that.... though I have never benchmarked anything.

 

At this point i would consider calling and speaking to them about it. If you have an order number you should be able to get someone to help you.

Not sure how big of a deal it is to you though, but thats along time to wait

 

This stuff doesn't normally bother me but when I see people who just ordered last week farther in the process than I am it's gets to me a bit. If I wasn't visiting these forums I wouldn't think anything of it. I'll give them until Tuesday to put me into boxing or I'll have a qx9300 and a bunch of ram to sell.

Edit: One other thing, my DPA account has been charged already. That normally does not happen until the order is shipped.

 

Yes I ordred my m17x on Friday the 9th and I got an Email today telling me its shipped. Status : Delivery Preperation.
Anyone know how long tilll they actually ship it out?

Well you hit the weekend, so I would say the earliest would be Monday. Otherwise, it should not really take more than a day or two

 

As far as I know, if you don't order the 4870s, or the 128 GB SSD, there shouldn't be any delay in your order.
