*OFFICIAL* M17x Order Status Thread...

You know what I was just thinking....Has anyone here purchased from alienware before dell took over...I had 3 systems from them prior to dell takeover (2-m7700 and 1 sentia). I remember there was a 3 day burn in at the bottom of the phases....like 10 or something. Maybe the boxing session (lol) takes so long because they are running the 3 day test alienware use to run? Just a thought?

 

more like 4 to 6 days ahead of orders placed online.

 

If that's what it is, I'm suing... I didn't give them permission to use my computer for 3 days before I get to use it! I want it NOW! lol That's like buying a new car and letting someone at the dealership drive it for 3 days before they give it to you. Let me do my own testing... I'll take my chances lol

 

I AGREE!!!!! Its mine and if its defective I want to be the one who finds out first! Not them!! And, certainly not the guy who can't figure out how to tape the box closed for 5 days! LOL

 

Mine has entered boxing stage...Interesting cause i called earlier and they said my black aluminum chassis is holding it back. SO CONFUSED. I don't wanna be happy cause it could take 5+ days of boxing. Sorry if you are not in boxing yet, gratz sleeyo, you deserve it.

 

I just entered boxing stage as well this evening. Happy to see Sleey0 and Clauss both in boxing as well. Now, hopefully JBBW will come by stating the same thing. Keep us posted JBBW!

I've been in boxing stage going on 6 days tomorrow. Don't get your hopes up too much! Just called again........STILL boxing stage. Hell, at this rate, we might all get our m17x at the same time!

 

they will all be shipped at the same time lol

hopefully soem one offered 1500 but i had to get norton and 4gb ram .... which would mean 1400

Mine - well - still processing since they had to redo the order.

I can affect your EDD by more than two days though. If you get delayed enough they run out of things...like the black chassis.

I really don't think it's fair.

 

I must have missed it, but what happened..what did you have to redo? So sorry to hear about that. I do hope everything goes smoothly this time!

I just called this number and followed your instructions and found out that my laptop is in the production phase and due ot ship on July 7th. That means it will arrive at my home on the 9th, I am due back on the 10th from a 12 day vacation (family reunion) but my son will be home so I am cool with that though I would have loved for it to ship by the 25th and arrive on the 29th so I could take it on vacation with me. Of course that probably would not have made the wife real happy

How firm do you think these dates are?

 

They are extremely accurate + or - 20 days.

 

it could ship out end of this week or next who knows ....

There was a problem on the web site the first day and the TV Tuner card option had the wrong SKU. It went on to be processed but when it came to the build state it went into some kind of illegal state or something because of the bad info. Anyway, it got stuck there. Actually, alot of people got stuck there from what I hear. The way they decided to fix it was to break the order into two parts - the main notebook and another order with the tv tuner card. Both are in processing today.

I am actually not mad about it at all right now. I was very unhappy last week when I tried to contact Customer 'Care' and got the run around when I asked what was going on. I know they don't have the tools to figure alot of things out BUT what really pissed me off was that the one supervisor I actually got to talk to finally refused (!) to escalate the problem. That really surprised me. I mean, how hard is it to say "I don't know" and move it up the chain? Anyway, the second call I got today from Round Rock actually mentioned they were going to do something about that problem too. Hopefully it means they are getting the tools they need to do their job better and the training to not be so rotten to people. I have never worked phone lines doing customer service but some friends of mine do in a non-comercial setting so I know a little about what they go through. Frankly, I think the ones I talked (with a few exceptions) do a very poor job. I am just glad they tape those things.

You can now configure your M17x with a Blu-ray burner. Lucky those who didn't order yet.

 

Just to go back to the idea of them waiting for a certain amount of laptops/boxes to ship to US. Did gabez hop on a dif plane cause he is already shipped =P

 

norton is super cheap if you know where to look and 4gb of ram can be found for under 40$.. .

I am at least glad they found the issue. It's just a shame you had to redo everything. I hope they are able to do something for you and you are able to get your laptop in your hands sooner than later.

 

I am wondering if Gabe's went out at the same time as the one for Mr. Biceps?..hehe. Maybe he was in that initial shipment batch? Just throwing that out there.

Well, I've just ordered my M17x from dell France =) The seller told me that I'll recieve my system before the 3/7.

 

I already plan on just taking the day off. If it lands on a Friday then no worries since I don't work Fridays anyhow.

 

I got a Dell shipped email today and got all excited. Of course it was for an order I did a week prior.

 

So it wasn't the m17x?

 

I just got info from a German Dell rep. If you I through him on the phone you can negotiate a discount and delivery would be the 15th of July latest,
but usually it will be a week earlier around the 7th of July.

 

Yup, got a 7% discount. Well I've been told that the 3rd July is the latest delay.

Nope, it was a back ordered hard disk that finally came in.

 

I ordered it today, from Dell France. According to the person who took my order by phone, I will recieve it before the 3rd of July, yes.

 

I just knew YOU were holding my system up in Malaysia.

I'm pretty sure I poseted a few days ago that all of ours that were ordered in the first week would be on the same plane to the US. Hopefully that means shipping by Friday for everyone.

 

I do know how excited everyone is to get this new Notebook. I dont think I have slept a full night since I placed the order.

However, I dont know why people are getting so upset about who's in boxing stage and who isnt ect..

So far, even the first people that got a status update to boxing are still there among the rest of us.
It appears that they are gathering a bunch of orders and will be shipping them in bulk.. If this wasn't the case, then some ppl like Mandrake ect would have already had theirs ship.

I am not trying to justify or stick up for dell in any means but man, when i placed this order for a NEW system I didn't expect to have it in 1-2weeks.

It is to be expected to have some delays/backups with new launches.


It just baffles me oh how upset some of you all are getting about what status everyone's orders are in.

 

As I've said before, it's not about the speed in which others are getting the orders done in. Mandrake didn't even order his laptop on the first day. Or the second. He ordered on the 3rd, yet he is already into boxing. Logically, this means that they have processed his order before others who are still in pre-production, yet ordered before him. What's going on there? What kind of queue system are Dell using?

 

I agree with you, there is definitely some refining that Dell needs to do. Its not right for them to be fulfilled out of sequence like that. Dell isn't the first company that I have seen do stupid things like that. I am just surprised how upset some of you are getting. Maybe I am just really laid back and see it as, it will get here when it gets here..

And who knows, they may not be that much out of order if they all ship at the same time. Until we start seeing shipping notifications/tracking numbers we really dont know how messed up the order system is.

Well as long as it is before the estimated delivery date of course.. I would be upset if they pushed that back as it was already 20+ days.

Please dont misunderstand me. I am not sticking up for them.. I was just commenting how surprised i was on how some people are really upset on the pending status of the orders.

I really dont understand what is going on at Dell, I ordered mine om the 3rd of June and got an EDD of the 15th of July. I talked today to a German sales rep and he told me that if I ordered today the EDD would be the 15th of July.

I really worder: is this just a matter of mis-information or is something else going on?

Wll maybe mine is build by pinguins on the South-Pole or something, but something is definitely wrong here.
