    How would you order by phone, isn't it easier to order online? Are they gonna ask me step by step what I want? lol seems tedious and thats the only way to get the 4+7% discount?

    That explains why you've been in pre-production so long. :p

    Anyway, my rep still isn't available on the phone - it keeps going through to her voice mail. The online status thingy still shows my order as cancelled and the phone status says the "status is not available".

    However, I was able to talk to a rep just now. Surprise, surprise, it was a woman from India. Now, I'm not racist in anyway but where the hell are all the English reps? Anyway, I spoke to her. I asked her why European orders are taking so long compared to American orders. She said she did not know why. So I asked are there any parts on back order. She said no. So I asked about the current status of my order and she just totally dismissed the question. She told me that the order will be with me "on or before the 2nd of July". THANK YOU. I can read from a screen too! Anyway, I presented the question to her again and she told me it's still in pre-production. (Even though my rep said I was in the build phase yesterday...) So I asked this woman I was speaking to how I can be in pre-production for 17 days when online it says that pre-production will last up to 14 days. She replied by saying that nothing is wrong with my order and that it will be with me "on or before the 2nd of July". Then she said "Also sir, it says your order was placed on the 17th of June, which was 2 days ago". At this point, I lost my cool. I started ranting at her about how that was a f uck up on Dell's end and that'd I'd ordered within 1 hour of the system being released. She said that that's not when her system says and "thank you for calling Dell". Then hung up on me. Good times. >.>


    P.S. Anyone wanna place bets on me not getting it "on or before the 2nd of July"?

    Hi, any news on yours yet?

    On the 2nd cancellation yesterday mine wasnt't cancelled at all but put on hold. When I checked later it was in production. Hope you will get a update soon.

    I think so, yes. But luckily I always get one from the Netherlands.

    When I check my status now on internet it shows in production, when I click in the upper right corner of the screen on Phase3: in production I get a new screen which says: Built then further down it says: Being tested.

    Off course I get these screens in Dutch, so I hope my translation is correct. :)

    I'd hope they were at Ireland or Poland. For them to be manufactured in China, for Europe, seems stupid. Just tried calling my rep again. Still getting her voicemail which says "I am not available to talk to you on Thursday 18th June, but will be in the office tomorrow at 9am, Friday 19th June". Well, it's 11:30am and she's still not there. Been phoning since 9am. =/ Going out now, will post again if I get an update. I won't hold my breath though.

    YAAAAAAAAYYYY, i just called the status line again and after 16days my order is now officially in the boxing stage, i am now excited again instead of ticked hopefully this means it will ship either monday or tuesday and i recieve it thursday/friday if not atleast i know it's coming :D

    Heh, I have very little experience installing any OS. As a matter of fact I have never actually installed a new OS. So i will need help from someone most likely if I am to dual boot with vista/windows 7. It's also going to be a good weekend cause I will graduate today.(High School)
    Odd thing is, I would rather be using the m17x over listening to long winded speeches with a lack of eloquence. I will be thinking of my lack of a video because of graduation. But...I've put a few years into it so I guess I should go.

    Well I see more threads opening up for the m17x and Im pretty sure everyone will be helpful as much as they can. This forum is one of the better ones I have seen around for any type of laptop discussion.

    it's a possibility, from what i have gathered so far it seems dell ships these systems twice a week at the moment, tuesday and thursdays. I've also noticed the ones that have went into boxing between wednesday and friday were shipped on tuesday, and between saturday and tuesday were shipped on thrusdays.

    I expect but no guarantee that our systems will be in the monday/tuesday batch of shipments (i'm hoping anyways)

    Just got back from town and I just rung up Dell to query my order. Surprise, surprise...another Indian woman. Anyway, she said that the order that I placed again has been cancelled but that there is a pending on the order for it to be placed again. She said that when this went through (within 48 hours), that I'd get an e-mail. I then asked where my laptop would be built and she said in China. So now I've had a rep tell me Ireland, another tell me Poland and this one saying China. Awesome! Anyway, I asked to be transferred to a manager based in either England or Ireland, which she said she was unable to do because they were all in meetings. Very coincidentally. Anyway, she was very unhelpful.

    So I called up again and directly asked customer care for a rep based in English. I was transferred to a guy who spoke very good English, but no doubt was foreign. He checked the status of my order and told me it was in pre-production but that there was an esclation placed on the order, to take it to the build stage. Success?! He said that by Tuesday I should have an update and that I should just give Dell time. So I explained to him about how this is the second order that I have placed with Dell for the same machine and that they have already taken the money from my bank...yet I see no product. Even stupider is that they said they wouldn't take the money from my bank until the laptop was shipping. Alas, it has not been shipped. He did seem to express genuine sincerity towards my case so I didn't shout at him but my dad was ranting in the background about a lawsuit, lol. Anyway, I said I'd phone back on Monday, expecting an update.

    So, that's me quiet until Monday.

    Grats dude! Mine also went into boxing on the 16th, but it's still in "Boxing". I was hoping it would ship today, maybe it still will.

    i doubt it, but if you know someone in the us that can place the order to their location and then ship to you, may be quicker.

    Clauss you might wanna check your EDD again, mine was supposed to come today cause i had free overnight. so i took off work and school to pick it up at home, just woke up to check on my status and it got moved to this Monday!! Im currently on the phone with Dell/FedEx to get my baby hopefully today or Saturday. GRRRR!

    Hmm well I'm looking at the shipping stuff right now and It is in the town right next to me. Went through all the places. It is at the fedex place like 15 mins away. Is that what happened to you?

    if you call that fedex depot, you may be able to go and pick it up yourself at that location. I have done this in the past when i knew a shipment wasn't going to come until after a weekend but was at my local fedex.

    hahahha nah, FedEx said they just recieved it this morning, but last night they said my EDD would be this afternoon. This whole purchase has been like a game to me, and this is the last hurdle. Just got off the phone with an Indian lady who told me they she would sumbit a request for my order to be delivered on Saturday. had the camcorder and everything all setup too...

    keep checking today, i checked about 7 est this morning and was still in build but when checked again about an hour later was changed to boxing. You have waited one day longer than i have so i'm sure yours will change soon.

    The FedEx place in Nashville..... Im in upsate NY. Yesterday the website said id get it at 4:30 today, so I took off work etc to get my baby. I got the overnight but i guess they dont start the "24 hours" countdown until the next day or some bs. Long story short, the Dell rep said i MIGHT get it tomorrow..... they would call "logistics" for me.

    I'm just a tad worried...

    Besides cost, I'm concerned about what I read in the 'M17X and Windows 7' thread...Microsoft is fairly close to a release and it looks like nVidia and Microsoft have some hybrid kinks to work out...

    And then there's the time issue of having to re-install whatever software I install under Vista (I will not do an upgrade install...format and then install the new OS clean)...

    I always think of myself as an early adopter, and then I'm usually the last one to pick the new whatever up...don't have as much time to fiddle anymore with laptops...just want to play/listen/watch/work with a minimal amount of headaches...

    I believe it has been stated by microsoft that a vista install can be upgraded to win 7 without the need of doing it fresh as long as you are upgrading to the same version such as vista home premium to win 7 home premium.

    win 7 is just vista sp2. It is vista as it should have been i currently use the RC client on 3 computers

    Welcome to my world. They can speak English but I doubt they really underdstand it well. Too many times you ask a question and they repeat something off the screen or their script. I can't blame them too much though, they just don't have the information available to them. The supervisors/managers aren't any better either.

    JBBW - i called today and they told me i ordered on the 18th (yesterday) but it in fact shipped yesterday (and i have the tracking number to prove it)

    there may have been some error in communication and it is possible that your order shipped on the 17th? they don't actual invoice for these machines until they ship

    This was my problem trying to get the hard drive cage for my second HD. :( All the reps I spoke to at first were Indian, and couldn't understand what it was. They kept thinking I wanted to order a hard drive. Every time I said there were "parts missing" they'd transfer me over to Warranty Support, Americans, and they'd go "Oh no, you need to talk to blah blah blah" and transfer me back to the Indians who could not understand me.

    Luckily, most of Alienware's support is still in tact. It just took a while to find one rep who understood my problem.

    The shuttle trip to the US is part of the boxing stage. The shipping stage is from the US to your home. Sorry about the confusion.
