When did you order yours? I ordered mine on the 8th and it is still in the build stage
11 Days and still building!!?? Some of you have received yours already or they have shipped and your order date is the same as mine or a day before, what gives!?
I see this as a significant problem that Dell needs to address, immediately. Especially if they want to compete against Best Buy and Fry's fighting for the "shrinking" dollar. They need ot be consistent with order dates and shipping being the same or close to the same throughout the USA, IMO.
I am told that my M17x should ship on the 7th, and I am content with that. However as a business man I think they need to tighten up their order process. I have extensive experience with ordering from both Dell (5 computers) and Alienware (2 computers). I understand that combining the two companies makes for a new challenge but that should not be the consumers problem
Oh and in my experience Dell shipped faster than Alienware by about 2 weeks for similiar products. Customer service for both has been excellent every time I have dealt with them. -
i ordered the 3rd and had to sit through build stage for 16 days until today when it finally entered boxing so you have a bit to go
-
i ordered it the 5th and it shipped yesterday and they said it would be here the 20th even though thats tommorow and i had 3-5 day shipping and thats only two days

Aren't you the least bit perturbed that you had to wait so long and others who ordered after you already recieved theirs?
-
There have been much worse trust me. People ordered first or second day and are in build or boxing. Far behind us/alex.
EDIT: oh..i thought you were talking to alexranger, not kcissem. -
yes i was, i was ticked. now i'm happy again since i know it's coming soon
-
and remember the estimated delivery date you get first is just elongated and is normally 10-15 days earlier than that
-
but the thing is my estimated delivery date is the 20th (tommorow) but it still says temporarily unavailable under the tracking number. can someone explain that?
-
Give it time, usually get that a bit later after learning its shipped. I got mine like 8 hours after.
-
ill give it time but i learned that it shipped yesterday at like 8pm and its been 8 hours. but ill try to wait
-
Completely understand you since i ordered on a same date and its still in build stage also. I called dell today and said that i would cancel the order since its not convenient for me, but they said i cant cancel it now. All though i wouldnt really cancel it.
-
you can cancel all the way upto before it ships, don't let them lie to you.

It just seems so haphazard, and a company as huge as dell, well you would think that they would be better at this than they are..... Ah well it will come when it comes...lol
-
oh yeah baby just went boxing rite now!
-
I ordered on the morning of the first day available and was mad about it (and really mad at the horrible customer 'care' service) until I got a call from Round Rock. They started giving me the information about what was going on. My order had a problem and they had to cancel/reorder it. I was a little bummed about that but KNOWING what was going on and being kept in the loop has made all the difference. Now I am all excited about this purchase again.
My new order just went to boxing today. WooHoo! -
you do have to remember not only is this dells first attempt in the Alienware name but it's a popular system that is in high demand.
I understand how you feel though as i started to get pissed when i saw others were shipping while i was still in build and ordered on the second day of release while others that ordered over a week later were getting theirs. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end -
that might be why they said you couldn't cancel as it was already on it's way to their shipping location
-
hopefully.

According to the FAQ at dell:
https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/cancel_order?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
If you ordered a System and it's in "Pending" or "Order Processing" you can cancel. If you are "In production" or "Shipped" you can't. -
its fine now, there is no way i would cancel the order now, after all the waiting.
-
Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster.
First off let me just say that I'm usually a pretty patient guy but Dell\Alienware must be taking the mickey at this stage.
So I first placed my order on the 3rd of June a few days later it went into the preproduction stage and stayed that way until the 17th when the order was cancelled. Emailed Dell customer service and they told me it was for internal reasons, whatever that means, and that a new order had been placed. Ok, Im back of the queue again and back in the order processing stage I thought but at least it's still ordered.
Just checked my new order and it's also been cancelled so I guess I'm going to have to wait until Monday to get another order submitted and another 2-3 days for the order processing stage. So I'm guesstimating that by the time I get a shiny new M17x I'll have spent 6 or more working days in order processing and 4+ weeks in preproduction, not to talk about build, boxing and shipping stages. So some of you guys should count your blessings
Now I'm not entirely sure it's a bad thing with some of the problems that seem to be emerging with the LCD and touch buttons. I'm actually considering cancelling at this stage.
Sorry for the rant, had to get that off my chest. Anyone else had the order cancelling problems ? -
If I had a choice to buy it or not now that I have it I would still buy it. The only problem I'm having it getting Windows 7 working properly with the Nvidia cards. Everything else is good. I definitely could see many people complaining about the glare of the LCD. Take that for what it's worth.
-
Yes, there were more. I was one of them. Also cancelled twice the same time as yours. But I'm now in the building stage (Phase 3).
BTW are you from Europe? -
just call a rep when you can, others have had this same issue, just when it does get corrected demand to be bump up the queue. They will say they don't do that but it has been done.
-
Cheer Mandrake, that's eased my mind a little. Now if they'd stop cancelling and get cracking I'd be happy
Yup, Ireland specifically. Good to see Im not alone at least and that your order has progressed quickly. -
Cant you just drive up to the Dell factory in Limerick and pick one up there?
Ther was also someone from London (Shuya) who has gone throught the same trouble as you. -
I guess I should feel lucky to only be cancelled and reordered once...
-
I ordered my M17x on the 11th and now it just shipped today with overnight shipping. I don't know how I got so ahead of all these other people. Does anyone know why that might be? Back ordered items? I ordered mine over the website too.
-
did you order via phone?
-
I ordered from the website.
-
Mine just changed to "Shipped". I should get it next Tuesday. Happy day!
-
just one lucky sob then, i ordered the 3rd and just went into boxing today, will ship next week most likely
-
I have the same problem. The cancelling stuff several times. I thought it was a done deal when I decided to pay by Wire a few weeks ago.
I received Friday a mail saying for some Internal reason they had to change my order number and that they delay my EDD to 29th of July !!! ;(
When I check on the tracking system it says the order was cancelled !!!
These guys drive me creazy. They are ruining the image I had of Alienware of a kind of Deluxe quality driven company(maybe not the truth but at least they did good marketing on me).
I never ordered at Dell in the past and they are lucky that I really want this laptop ! I'll do my best to never order anything else from them they are such a crappy company.
I never saw a company where it's so hard to order something. It took me 1 week to get my order validated and get things straight. (Started to try to order the 3rd of June and the order was validated the 8th... It seems you need to beg them to do their work properly and take your money.
So far for me they have screwed every step of the process. and they didn't even start to prepare my order...
(Really angry customer from France) -
Unfortunately that plant has been closed if I remember correctly.
But yes, this order cancelling thing is annoying, 1 step forward 2 steps back it feels like. -
Date Ordered: 6/12/2009
Order Status: In Production - Build Stage
Shipping Method: Next Business Day
Estimated Ship Date: 7/10/2009
Estimated Delivery Date: 7/13/2009
I originally ordered mine over the phone through the Home Purchase department on 6/5/2009, but did so under the impression that it wasn't available to service members under our premier store order system (free shipping, no tax
). The Indian guy I spoke with in the Home Purchase department told me it was impossible to order such a new laptop through the premier sites, so I ordered it from him (Mitch AM Arvin Sarroca). Come to find out on here that service members are able to purchase it through our premier site, so I canceled my order. A week of phone calls with Dell trying to cancel an order that was "In Production" and I was finally able to order again which the above info comes from
.
-
What's your configuration as-ordered? That way we can get an idea of what items are definitely NOT holding up orders
.
-
How long did you guys wait @ "in production" for?
-
16 days for me, went into boxing today
-
11 days for me. hopefully will get it next week.
-
I ordered on 6/10
Got cancelled yesterday and a new re-order followed right away.
The problem is that they messed up completely my order by changing parts I didn't ask for. Like dowgrading my WUXGA to WXGA or ordering a 4 year warranty instead of the 3 year I ordered the first time.
I called this morning, and the rep on the phone told me that my system went in production, so no cancelling possible but that I could send it back after I received it 07/09 !?
I lost it completely and she said that a another rep will call me back (manager?).
After a few hours, he called, fixed my order, and gave me free next day shipping, but now, I'm back in "processing".
The weirdest part is my EDD = 01/01/0001 maybe due to time travel!!!!
go figure.
btw, I upgraded my Blu-ray to a BD burner. -

Why did you chose to go to Windows 7 now, while it is still in it's Beta stage? -
QX9300 2.53ghz
6GBs Dual Channel DDR3 1333mhz
1920x1200 screen
Dual GTX 260Ms
256gb SSD
Blu Ray player
Vista home premium -
lol, I think they're trying to advertise the new movie, Year One.
-
I wanted to test the performance with Windows 7. No other reason.
-
Believe it or not, Windows 7 RC is quite polished for a pre-release OS. Many have already gotten hooked and can't stand Vista, lol. As a gamer or power user, it can get annoying having to google some fix ever-so-often or find that there's no fix yet, but I quite like just browsing the internet and performing simple tasks as apposed to Vista right now. Replacing your OS with it, not such a good idea, lol
-
Mine is now "On FedEx vehicle for delivery"; sooo close! Too bad I'm at work until late tonight :-( But tonight it should be in my hands!
-
how did you get sat delivery? did you have next day?
-
What the hell is this all about?! Has anyone had this problem? Mine was in the pre-production stage, then when I went back in it was cancelled and now it is back in the first stage of order processing? I think I am going to e-mail Dell and say that I don't give a crap about "too many orders" if they don't put my order straight into production stage, which is where it should be now after two and a half weeks, I am going to take my business elsewhere, this really annoys the hell out of me.
-
@ sleey0: No, I got 3-5 day shipping, but I know our local FedEx is open on Saturdays, so I guess they do deliveries today too.
