Can you elaborate abit more on that

 

a company like dell does not run outta panels for that long ... I think either they are talking to Samsung about something else or trying a different panel all together .....

 

This was my feeling as well , how can you be out of panels for a month ? thats like forever in the computer world .

There are already atleast 2 or 3 companys that make Dual CCFL panels so i cant imagine it would be that hard to get a hold of some more . Beyond the Glass front end on them these panels should be no different then any of the other ones .

 

yea ....AW even with their small pull was only out for like 1 week Dell i am sure can get shipments when ever they want

Damnit this is frustrating... my laptop is in the early build stages... but if I knew I had the option to wait a little longer an get the better LCD than I will... this put's me in a difficult positon

 

Lol Biscuits how do you know you wont end up with the new panel ? no one is certain of anything right now .


If they come out with a new panel that is so much better then the one you currently have then call and complain and im sure with enough of that you could get i replaced , i know i would if they make some drastic change.

I ordered on 10th of June. will i get the old screen that doesnt exist or the new shipment? lool. what kind of maths is used for my case?

you are right. one is for sure though. this situation is not normal and especially for a big company like Dell.

the only way we can get information is anyone of us calls. everybody should learn something and if we put these together we may make a conclusion. However this is more for US reps as they are more informed and more helpful.

 

I'll call my rep Austin, we've gotten to be Buddies over the past few weeks. He and his team hopefully will be able to shine some light on the situation

Been speaking to the Dell community rep in the US (even though i'm in Australia) and the story is the same all over the place.

Anyways, i'm keen to get mine (as are thousands of others it seems) and the order was received on the 19th of June and the online status still only says "Order Received".

I tried the automatic phone call a la what was described first in the thread, but am unable to get the more detailed status description. Yet here it still says it's being built.

so, anybody with some serious Dell experience able to make some calculations here...19th of June order received...about what time could i "expect" the unit to arrive you think?

edit: just called the automated status service again to make sure there wasn't any options available to me and it says the system is due to be delivered on or before July the 7th (which is today??). Obviously the systems aren't being updated it seems...

 

July 20-30th...

But anyway it's funny how very many M17x's they are selling and yet all the M17x videos on youtube videos except one gameplay video are from NBR users... where are all the videos!!!

Original ETA was today, 7th of July (well, it says on or before the 7th of July that is).

 

That very well may happen within the next few days, but I think we will be seeing some delays.. you should call and complain, they will up your priority

 

Doubt it'll be here today (or in the next few days)...order status is still siting on "Order Received"..

Was told last week that there'd be a slight delay and the cust. rep informed me of the issues (eg. the LCDs)..

i'm not worried - this is a replacement unit (eg. they're replacing my old laptop with this one) so it's a win/win for me wont pay a cent for it either

I'm suspecting that it's very realistic, and possible, that my unit wont be delivered till the backlog of orders has well and truly been disposed of.

 

I ordered mine on the 19th of June, with an EDD of July 17th. I wonder if i'll be getting the old or new screen, if that's going to be the case.

 

Lot of people decided to cancel and reorder. But there is no way I will cancel my order since I got a couple of free upgrades, and a reasonable percentage off.

I'm gonna stick with my order as there is no guarantee I will save an extra 15% again with those nice upgrades. In any case, my trusty 10" Eee PC is helping me deal with the pain.

I ordered mine on 6-26-09 with a EDD of 7-30-09. this unit will be replacing my Asus gaming laptop.

 

Ok, what the hell is going on...
My order was moving along on schedule, right... I ordered 6/15/09. Went into boxing 7/2/09, scheduled to be shipped 7/7/09 (today). This morning, I log on to dell.com to see if it has been shipped and there is an updated EDD. The updated delivery date is 8/10/09!!!! WHAT?! I called the hotline and it says it's still in the boxing stage, and just yesterday a dell rep told me it was basically done and ready to be shipped.

Why in the world would it be delayed NOW?

 

Id base your info on the hotline and what your Rep said vs what the webpage says .

 

my rep told me that mine was shipped on 24 of June. i dont know if she lied or somebody lied to her. ordered on 10th june and EDD is now 22/07/09 (europe date system)

 

What did the hotline tell you when you called ? im not sure you guys even have that option where you located ? Also what did the website say when your rep told you the 24th of june ?.

 

the online order status was as still remains now: build phase. i didnt call anyone i just sent an email to customer service and they told me apologies etc and thats in build phase. What makes me really wonder is that my rep was so sure that it was shipped telling me to ignore the online order status. crazy things.. finally i told her to recheck and she then told me: i -crosschecked- that its in build phase. guess what would happen if i believed her. i would wait every day at home for it since the 24th of Jube. lool. Since then she doesnt reply to my email feeling guilty or something. Dell you are a chaos.

of course one day EDD 22th of July and the other day invoiced and shipped is not something that a no noob would believe. and this happened at 24 of June as i told before and after my initial EDD of 30th June had changed.

i dont know what to say. i am at the mercy of Dell and its suppliers as all of us. Just be as patient as you can to face this sh.t

 

One thing i dont understand is how they said that they were not anticipating so many orders .

They advertised the heck out of this machine spent a ton of money doing it and then act surprised when so many people ordered lol ?.

 

My EDD is the 17th of July, it was the 3rd but apparently there was an internal system error (yeah right). I really hope that I get it by the 17th, I hope us Canadians aren't going to be held back 2 months. Speaking of Canadians, has anyone from Canada received their M17x already?

June 25th The reason mine was so fast is probably the WXGA panel.

 

Sorry peeps just got my laptop today! EDD was moved to the 8th after UPS got it and they delivered a day early! Moving on to the owners lounge. Oh and btw, love the laptop! No bleeding whatsoever, everything works like a charm. Peace and love guys! Good news is, is that people are getting them in the EU now. Hope y'all get yours soon.

at least they could tell us some of their military secrets of what is going on with the 1900x1200 screens. I cant understand their behaviour. Yes Elisium its good that you got it . I hope the gtx280s are not backorder too.

 

No they are not... but either way I don't regret choosing any of the setting's I did I'll wait for a new 1900x1200 or my black chassy anyday

 

I just chose this one to see if I liked it, if I didn't I would just upgrade later on. Its good enough for me atm =).

 

Ok, so I got to the bottom of it.

As I said, when I logged on Dell.com this morning to check the Order Status, the EDD had changed from 7/13/09, the date that had been scheduled since I ordered on 6/15/09, to 8/10/09...even though it had been in the boxing stage since 7/2/09. I called and spoke to someone from Team Blackhawk, and she did some searching and question-asking only to come back and tell me that the black case was on back order and that they changed EVERYONE'S date just in case the back order affected their order. She also said that mine showed as being in the final stages of the "In Production" stage (been in boxing since 7/2/09) and might ship before 8/10, but she couldn't promise anything.

So, 5 minutes later, I called back and spoke to someone else from Team Blackhawk. He didn't specifically mention that the black case was on back order but told me quickly that is some part WERE on back order, that the online date would change just so dell could essentially cover their a$$es. He also said that his screen showed my order as being "In Transit," and that it should be shipped out sometime in the next 24 hours.

Lo and behold, my order has now SHIPPED after 17 days of building and 5 days of boxing. EDD is now 7/10/09 (standard shipping).

Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else, but if it does, now you know why.

 

Seeing that you ordered the WUXGA screen on your machine maybe things will start moving along faster now for the other WUXGA people because they must have got some screens in id imagine.

 

Congrats Jumpboyjr. I'm in build 19 days now and counting. So i don't think it's all that unusual. It'd be nice if we could get any solid info out of Dell. One rep saying the chasis are on backorder another that the screen is on backorder.

 

i just really wanna know wats goin on cuz its seriously just bothering me now...

 

so i can guess that my silver chassis is not backordered but if my machine is backordered due to the screen its the same. So it doesnt matter .

so i can guess my machine is standing there without screen.lool
