*OFFICIAL* M17x Order Status Thread...

My m17x just arrived and is sitting beside me. I'm at work right now, so I can't really do too much with it, but when I get home I'll post pictures and later tonight if I get around to it I'll post benchmarks.

Money doesn't come out until after shipment. The original amount you saw come out was verification of funds.

Now we have hope that screens are flowing into the factory again. What about the black cases? I was told by Dell that the black cases were short too. If that was right does anyone know if they are flowing into the factory too?

 

Yes, we have confirmed via dell rep over phone that a new shipment of LCD's is coming in tomorrow... We can hope maybe they are a better batch, maybe an update

 

I think you guys are under estimating the quality of the screen. One thing for sure is it is still a TN panel and suffers from all the draw backs TN panels have but overall it is still very nice. Much nicer than the ones they put on the M1730s.

 

Yea but this doesn't exactly bode well... I wen't to check out the new screen when configuring... the upgrade to the 1900x1200 is now $150 instead of $200... wonder why?

 

Maybe a larger order from Samsung netted them a bigger discount and they're passing the savings on to the customer....OK I don't even believe that. Hope they don't go back to the M1730 panel.

 

I'm definitely posting pictures and then you tell me... cuz I'ma get reaaal angry over the phone if they send me one of those, especially since I payed for the 200 dollar panel

 

if the 1730 isnt a dual lamp panel then it wont be the same

 

I doubt they'll go back to the older panels but those were advertised as 2CFFL also even if they really weren't.

 

When I ordered mine on the 16th of June it was $150.

 

Are you positive, becuase I am almost certain when I ordered mine on the 28 or 29th it was 200

 

Yeah I don't ever remember it being $200.. was always $150

 

but I'm sure they wouldn't mind you paying an extra $50 lol

 

I've been watching this thread since the release announcement, well, the other one first, but Im so angry now as many are that my edd is moved and my original order was cancelled. I thought I would re register and post.
Im from canada, order date was june 4th, edd july 7th, but they cancelled the order on june the 25th and now its a new order number with the edd of july 22, THEN again bumped it to the 27th of july. Just giving other canadians an idea of the pecking order thats going on ps, some great dudes in here from what I have seen in this thread alone. Good luck everyone.

 

If you ordered yours in black, killswitch, the edd may have been moved back because the black chassis is apparently on backorder (according to the rep i spoke to). Yours may already have a black chassis, but they sent out the date change to all outstanding orders so as to cover their a$$, essentially. Mine was scheduled to SHIP 7/7/09, and when I logged on yesterday morning, my EDD had changed from 7/13 to 8/10. I called, they said exactly what I just told you, and later that day, the EDD changed to 7/10.

Also, just for others info, I did order the WUXGA screen, and obviously ordered mine in black, so by the fact that mine is on its way, that may mean others' orders are going to be moving along soon.

 

Whew, thank god mine hasn't changed yet... and I don't think it will... you guys outside the US are getting the blunt of it

I would call them back and be more firm. I got a total of 11% off and free shipping on my order in my sig...with EPP and DPA.

 

Oh really.. I told them that a friend of mine got 7% student and 4% DPA plus free shipping and he told me basically you were lying because he nor his manager has the "tools" to do that. They only have the option of doing one discount and can't do free shipping. Should I cancel this or what.. what else can I do.

 

Yeah.. some special dell sales team or something. Not that special really because they wouldn't give me better discounts.

 

I wonder if the EPP department has more leeway on pricing

 

Remind me what EPP stands for again and should I cancel this and try this EPP department?

They wouldn't give me 4% off or whatever either, but I'm going to be making payments on it, 0% interest, over the next 12 months. That's all I got... that and the 7% student discount. My rep said no to the extra discount as well, Joey from Team Blackhawk.

I got my EPP rep to quote me the full 10% last week (7% + 3% + free NBD shipping).

It used to be 7% + 4% but Dell switched the DPA back to 3%

Make sure to get to some benching on those SLI 260's ;P. We've had a complete lack of 260 SLI owners doing any benching....On a side note to babyhemi; I didn't know you changed mind about the laptop you were gonna get, welcome aboard xD

 

I just spent the last 20min chatting with a rediculously stupid rep lol... I was asking if it was possible or would be in the future to get the M17x with a RGB LED 16.7 million color screen... He then proceeded to try and convinve me the 1900x1200 LCD that comes with the M17x is better! and that it's the best laptop LCD released as of yet

 

That is pretty much the response i would expect from a rep as they dont know much of anything .

They certainly wont know if its upgradeable to LED and of course they are going to say the current one is the best ever lol, did the conversation proceed with "Are you ready to order?" .

Its a bummer the Qx9300 keep going up in price and now at $520.00 US for the ES CPUs and about $700.00 for the OEMs . I paid 500 and change for the one in my W90 and it was OEM .

I dont really want to order one till i have the machine in hand and am happy with my purchase but i may have my hand forced soon if they keep skyrocketing in price , or ill just settle for the Q9200@$300.00.

 

i wouldn't. i would go for the best and get it quick but that's me. (i'm stuck though between the q9650 and the x3380 but the price is like the same your in also and i'm going with the q9650 lol)

 

Well the Q9200 should handle 2.93 to 3.06 ghz easily and that seems to be the cap on the M17x , they both have 12megs of cache so thats a non issue as well , i just would rather wait though cause if im not happy with the machine(which im sure i will be but you never know) then that means i will have to sell the CPU or toss it in something else , problem there is this is the only machine im interested in now so its this or no notebook at all for awhile.

 

what about the np9850. lol just playing. but they change the keyboard for it.

and i understand i don't like to spend and regret.

 

Yeah i have 0 interest in the 9850 anymore TBH . I think they missed the mark with that clumsy looking Keyboard and the shiny plastic all over it . Thats just me though and im sure many people will be very happy with it .

Just looking at the picture scares me how much grease and dust that thing will collect , it looks like a beauty though until i put my hands on it.

Some people have very dry skin and for this machine that will be a blessing i suppose.

 

Alienware forum is great! Yeah I couldn't resist no interest till June 2010 on my DPA. Also I think this baby is a looker too, the keyboard for one just made me pull the trigger

Of course I still work/play with my NP8662.

 

Aside from performance thats the one thing that had me sold almost instantly when i first saw it .

 

there isn't to much action in the sager forum.

but the whitebook was a fingerprint also. i cleaned it every minute and made sure it was clean. then i got used to it(i just left it looking ugly. lol.)

 

There is almost NO action in the Sager forum for the 9850 , i check it constantly just to see whats going on but nada. i know the machine hasnt been officially released though so its obvious thats part the reason but i figured there would be a huge thread with tons of posts all speculating and drooling over it . guess not though .

 

Now my sager thread seems to be a dud, but this M17x wil not be! do some reviews, videos, pictures guys!

 

I think in a couple weeks when the NP9850/M980NU is shipping good and more are getting the NP9280/D900F it will liven up

 

i also thought it was going to be all about it but it's about how people are angry at clevo because of no i7 sli. so everyone left.

i'm still in the alienware thread. it's the most active about something i want to hear. the w90 died. the ocz one died as well. project freeze is the only thing active there. but the sager is ok.

well even with that, give it some hype. (maybe the design) but i guess some are here seeing the performance and is leaving the sager forum.(maybe for the m17x as well)

 

Oh and why isn't this "bluray burner" available through online ordering? The rep asked me which bluray device I wanted and wasn't sure what he was talking about. Either way I don't need a bluray burner, not until prices for the media goes down anyway.
