MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Oh wow lol, they took a while on yours huh... but then again I guess they did "run" out of LCD's so... you'll probably get yours on or a little before your EDD
-

Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
I have been in production since an hour after I ordered on July 6th. The next step on my order page is shipping. Where are all the other steps? It has been a little while since I ordered from Dell.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Theres processing>Build>Boxing>Shipping>delivered!
-
Production is like 15 days, maybe more depending what you got. My date goes from July 9 to August 12 (delivered), a full month. Bad thing is I move in to dorms in 14, and it is going to my house. If it gets any delays, I am screwed.
-
Congrats Moo and MrButterBiscuits!
I am so jealous!
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
what? oh no Rob you misunderstood, I'm still in build lol! I was asking Moo when he ordered his becuase I thought we ordered pretty close to eachother
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
That is true but before when I ordered from Dell it stayed in processing a day or two then on down the list but this time the only two options I have is production and shipping. Ive look all over my account page. EDD August 7th.
"In Production
Upon approval of payment for your order, the order will be In Production. Production time includes obtaining the parts, assembly or build time, and shipping preparations/transit to the carrier. Shipping preparations will vary based on type of order and size.
Shipped
After an order has completed the manufacturing process and shipping preparations it is transitioned to the carrier for delivery. Shipping time will vary based on type of order and size and shipping method chosen." -
Hopefully mine will hit boxing sooner then expected with the sudden influx of screens. I ordered the 1st of this month.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
I ordered on the 28th but the site says the 30th oh well... anyway let's hope
-
Well we can look forward to you posting you got your machine in every thread on the front page thats for sure

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Ha no just the M17x owners lounge... I'll obviously post that I revieved it in here but that's all... I'll be spending all my time doing the unboxing video, pictures, CPU installation video and pictures and then playing... I've been saving all my games till it arrives... Haven't played crysis warhead, Devil maycry 4, TF2, HL episode 1 and 2... and all sorts of other goodies... good thing my Novint falcon is coming to tide me over...

I see you caved in and decided to go with Dell over Clevo
good choice. Clevo really messed up this round, and they will be wishing they went with a 17" model, that looks nice, and has an unlocked BIOS, rather than that big ugly M980NU, with it's unsightly keyboard, and communist BIOS. The M17x will really put a hurting on the M980NU's sales.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yeah Iv'e had a few Dell's over the years. Never an Alienware. The M17x is irresistable.
I do think the M980NU will be able to overclock in the bios at least on Clevo's website they do say overclock the cpu. It should be a real nice 18.4. Even so, the M17x I think is going to be the release of 2009. -
Megacharge Custom User Title
Yes, but I'm sure only the extreme chips will be "allowed" to be over clocked. -
So when ya ordering Rob ? i know you want one
.
-
i purchase mine on the 19th of june and my esd is the 14th of july
went all out an spent a little over 5 grand and i hope its worth it
gx9300
2 x 280gtx
8 gigs ram 1333
128 gb solid state
17 " 1920 x1200
Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Combo -
Nice set up you got there and im sure you will be plenty happy
-
only if it get here when they say it will being that the lcds where on backorder
-
well it seems that there was sanity involved when Dell cancelled my order.
reason being: the cpu chosen had a major parts availability issue as well (apparently it was the most frequently chosen cpu) and they couldn't provide me with that specific cpu.
So, after a day of argonising till i finally got hold of my rep i was informed that she'd put in a new order (and provided me with an order number) with an upgraded cpu...
so, all's well, but this means that my order went in on the 8th of July and the system has as of yet not given me an EDD
anyways, all's good and gold..a little wait (now well and truly past 5 weeks in total since it was resolved) isn't going to upset me...much...
With the order going in/being received on the 8th of July, what would the approximate/speculative EDD be? I'm going to Tech-Ed in September (Australia) and i really want this with me
-
you didn't exactly go "ALL" out, look at my sig for an "ALL" out spec, only thing i didn't get was the blu-ray burner but that was only because that option was added after i already purchased (3rd of june)

Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
update :
they now want me to confirm some details of my order and they called me when i was working . i called back and no one there. -
yeeeessss, just entered the boxing stage.
Can't find my words...what a relief to hear the phone system say something different from "build" -
lol i should have it by next wednesday ....figure im in boxing and since they were so back ordered the shipment will be full enough to send out today or tommorw 2 day shipping lands me on monday or tuesday
-
Congrats to you MOO...
After the cancellations and phone conversations with rep, they gave next business day shipping free of charge to try to meet my initial EDD of 07/09, so 'Ill probably get it tuesday.
Does the boxing stage include week-ends?
You'll soon get all sorts of benchmarks from this fully loaded system. -
Dell factorys never stop and the boxing stage is the time it takes to get into the box and the orders to fill a shipment.
Basically they have enough backordered systems to ship right away
-
The boxing stage includes the time it takes to be packaged and shuttled from the manufacture plant to Dells shipping location for your country. For me this took 4 days including the weekend until it was shipped
-
Thanks for the info
I'm right next to you (VA) so hopefully it'll ship monday and I'll get it on tuesday. -
in that case your should ship from tennessee as mine did and i only had the standard 3 to 5 day ground shipping. It shipped on tuesday and i got it that very thursday.
Edit: i work in va but live in MD -
W00t! Boxing for me now. And my EDD now says 7/17. Though I do have overnight shipping - so my guess is perhaps Tuesday or Wed I'll have it.
-
im couple states away in good ol' Louisiana
-
I maxed out the Alien. I even got the Blu-Ray burner (practical for work).
-
Well I'm really excited now. My order is now official and thanks to Sleey I was able to get additional discounts from an EPP rep. My total with taxes before was $2611 and with the additional discounts had it down to $2477
. That's a pretty significant difference IMO. The rep even tried to expedite my order so we'll see if that helps and for my troubles gave me a 4% EPP discount instead of just the 3%. So I basically was able to get 7% EPP with 4% DPA and free shipping. Here's my configuration.
Black Metallic
Intel Core2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz (will OC or if notebook is to my liking get q9200)
4GB Dual Channel DDR3
WUXGA 1920x1200 (DUAL LAMP RIGHT
) 17" LCD
1GB Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - SLI Enabled
1TB (500GB x 2) 7,200RPM (xMB Cache) - RAID 0
Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Combo -
so i take it you got ove your screen concerns
-
I'm still concerned but hoping for the best.
-
it's all luck with the screens no matter what you order. there will always be a little bleed but i've never owned one that the bleed was so bad it was noticeable during normal usage.
-
FYI it is dual lamp no matter how crappy it is dual lamp
-
Yeah its not the bleed that concerns me, I'm more irritated by dimness and sparkles/graininess so hopefully I have none of those to deal with. I just want a bright, sharp, crisp, vibrant screen.
-
Well i can only tell you that i have no issues with mine
-
The LCD was decent but if your looking for a Sony type screen than the M17x may not be for you.
-
well if its better than bestbuy pc notebook screens then it should be fine
-
guys you can buy different screens for this...... you do know that right ?
-
that's refreshing news. Anyway, if you look for bleed, you'll find bleed on almost any screen (at a certain extent)
-
your 3 years on NBR has only been complaing or asking about screens ... almost every thread...
-
Yea and? I haven't found my perfect notebook in those 3 years. Always end up with either subpar GPU with excellent screen or subpar screen with excellent gpu, never both. Hopefully this time I can get both. I am obsessed with screen quality, I cannot help it. It goes to show you how cheap these notebook manufacturers are, they boast excellent performance and yet they don't seem to care about one of the most important aspects of a notebook, the screen. The part of the notebook you interact with 100% of the time. Maybe my eyes are cursed and too keenly aware of the flaws in these screens where others do not notice or are not bothered by them but I will keep complaining and searching until the day comes when I am completely satisfied which I hope will be in a few weeks.
-
lol you won't be
You never will be .... its been 3 years ...
