You can't get a gaming notebook from them but if you want good power and an excellent screen than Sony would suit you well.

 

Yea been there already with a previous notebook, a fujitsu lifebook. Excellent screen, gpu a little underpowered though.

 

update now in pre- production phase. EDD still 21 of July. i am really frightened if it will change when it goes into production.

 

Mine hits Nashville this afternoon, There going to try and ship it out for me by Tomorrow morning at latest, so I should have by Monday or Tuesday?

I am going to miss waking up every morning and rushing to check order status!.....................NOT!

 

When did dell change the Order status web page ? they used to have a better one that would show the machine in steps . now its just in production , talk about vague.

 

After checking the old status phone number (thank SLEEY0) I entered boxing stage today. A few hours later my DELL rep sent me the following email:

"Hello, thank you for your email.

I have just checked at the status of your order, and my system shows me that your computer it’s in the boxing station already, it should not take more than 24 to 48 hours (business hours) to be shipped. And Once its shipped it includes the next day delivery.
(I will continue checking everyday until it’s shipped)

Thank you for your business and patience ."


That means that I'll defenitely received my Alien by tuesday.

I checked today and I'm still in the build phase. My order is supposed to ship on the next business day, which is Monday. Should I be concerned about a delay?

 

Mine is now shipping! Ordered June 29th and I should have it monday or tuesday

Lol cause i just do i have plenty of sites i check constantly so its just added to the que . When it gos into boxing it will be reflected on the site correct ? im not used to the way the new site handles vs the old.

Ya ive done that as well and thats usually every couple days now. Well if the site is not going to reflect the boxxing stage then i wont bother with it anymore and just use the phone number. The old one would show it was in boxxing etc , every step basically.

They must have the WXGA machines stockpiled lol if people are ordering and receiving that quickly.

Well im sure you can always return it and avoid the restocking fee and then reorder , wouldnt actually take that long knowing how fast they are shipping the WXGA screen machines. Though i think in the long run youd be happier with WUXGA . I know i personally would have never ordered the Lower res when given the choice plus SLI 280s and WXGA would have been a waste.

i ordered on 10th of june and my reprocessed order is in phase 2.

 

Yeah you guys get phases but we dont get that anymore . It gos from production to shipped and nothing in between.

 

We get phases... It's just labeled differently (ie kitting, build, testing, boxing).

 

well, i waited 3 weeks to start with to get a resolution sorted out, then 4 weeks of waiting with the "order received" only to find out that it'd been cancelled and that i now have to wait another 4 weeks...

actually, it was more 9 months, with 7 major parts fixes (eg. 4 graphics cards, 4 motherboards, 3 1/2 set of fans and 3 sets of heatsinks + 9 days at a Dell lab) before i got to this stage

anyways, apparently Dell's factory doesn't work weekends - or the gnomes that press the buttons for order system updates doesn't work weekends - which means i have to wait 4 more days before i can expect an EDD on the newly placed system (yeah, to change the cpu they apparently have to build the whole system from scratch again)...

getting impatient here, i know, shouldn't complain but i'm seeing all these shiny videos and the withdrawal symptoms are kicking in now..

 

I was only in boxing stage for two days so you won't have to wait much longer moo

so your order was cancelled and they didnt even update your order status? and why you should be patient. as i said is there anyone in this forum who would be patient enough with such an order story?

as for the phases what i got actually is that everywhere in the world it goes from production to shipping. ok we have the boxing stage in europe but apparently this lasts 2 hours? so no need actually except if there are delays during boxing.lool

Back in the day the Website actually used to reflect all these things that you mentioned but not from what im looking at now . Moo said the only way to find this info is to call , so im assuming beyond a phone call thats all the website will show now ?.

Waiting a rep I have now to contact her supervisor on Monday. After cancelling my order they tried to charge me £300 etc for the new order even though they were identical!

 

you are right. thats what i am afraid of except from the edd change. in my case my rep reprocessed the order with exactly the same cost. the only thing that changed was the order id and order date of course. thats why you need to order via a rep but as you didnt order via a rep before i dont know if there is a way to keep the previous cost

maybe send them the order acknowledgement of the initial order as they sent it to you (if you received one). this should have all the specs and the final cost. i cant think something else. i hope this will work.

finally i believe that ordering without a rep is like a sure grave even though many things dont depend on them and can be changed with the press of a button by other people that you will never know as you correctly refered.

by the way their managers never replied to me. i hope they do to you.

 

Ye thanks Aristotelhs2060 i have done as you said and sent them all the old information I had.

Also the quote they tried to give me (the one that was £300 etc, had an EDD of 23rd July so they really have improved their processing times atleast. I know it might have been a bit faster because of it being due to a mistake in Dell but they wouldn't have been able to give that EDD if they didn't have parts around (hopefully lol).
