    where have you been man? lets make an official m17x losers thread. we become even more and more.

    i think that instead of the silly interviews showing the m17x with different lights each time and playing solitaire or anything else on it, alienware and/or dell people should make an interview explaining the reasons for these delays. Yes i still believe they are serious companies and its time to give an official serious interview for this. there is no reason to hide something that most of the customers will face sooner or later except if they are lucky (?) enough. this will show responsibilty.

    Yes we know what m17x has on it and that its the worlds most powerful notebook. every customer that is going to buy knows that. Tell us why the delays exist and what you plan to do for it. You were very happy for this cooperation as we were hoping for the best. but this has resulted to high disatisfaction during the first 1.5 month of m17x release. hear us your customers!

    i think we deserve it for the price we pay. for god shake!

    I should be getting mine around the same time as Biscuits gets his , i would probably bet that Clauss gets his before us since replacements are handled totally different then first time orders.

    Bah, I didn't do nothing! the damn lights went out when i reinstalled vista and repartitioned and redid the raid arrays. Not my fault the lights...are...alienware tech support couldn't fix them, blame them!

    Lol im fine with you getting your replacement before i get mine . You should have a working machine and since you ordered long before us you should be entitled to have your replacement come before ours.

    yes i am happy he gets it too even though he ordered a few days before me and i didnt even receive the first. he is helpful and kind guy.

    Jst got news from my friend (who placed the order for me at US) that she got a mail from DELL mentioning auto-order cancel - i.e., unless she reply to the mail, the order will get cancelled, citing no response from the customer side as the reason. She called up the customer care to complain about my first EDD change less than 1 week ago, now that is some serious lack of response from customer side :confused: .

    I told her to let the order be cancelled. Maybe M17x is not the machine for me. Two times I planned on buying Area 51 m15x - first i went after NP8662 and the order got cancelled, the second time i planned buying m15x again and then went after the new M17x, the order is now 'miraculously' getting cancelled! Maybe m15x is my real destiny :rolleyes: . I should think about this.

    Billing/credit card issues are the first and usually only reason they would auto cancel . I got one of those the day after i ordered but followed up ASAP and everything went fine from there , or atleast so far lol.


    If my order were cancelled at this point though i would make 1 attempt to try and get it straightened out but also demand that i not be put at the back of the line again and if i was i would just give up at that point. Playing the waiting game is bad enough but to have something fall through last minute and then have to start over is not an option for me , i would just move on.

    i think they check if the money card etc are available before they go to production phase. i know this is true otherwise the order is not even processed. the friend above is waiting since 4th of june!! i dont think he was in phase 1 since then

    Yep they do and in my case they tried to Bill my whole debit card lol and not use the DPA credit , so of course my debit card declined the whole amount as i had just put enough in the account to cover the extra that DPA wouldnt . The following morning i got it cleared up in 5 minutes and 4 of that was being put on hold.

    so we are saying the same thing. in the case of Comskian his order would be cancelled during the first days if he had not the money. i dont think they were waiting for 1 month to cancel his order if it was for this reason.

    i used my debit card as normal and the money (price of m17x) are absent from there since 10th of june. also when they cancelled the order without reason they told me to contact my sales rep for a new order or for a refund. this means that they have the money. in US they just check if you have the money and -hold- them while they remain in your account. in europe they -take- the money as soon as they process the order even before production starts.

    New user here, just stumbled upon this forum and am trying to keep calm.

    My story is the same as many others, I ordered for my Girlfriend on June 2nd with EDD of July 7 (i misread to her as June 7...big mistake to start out with).

    As the date of July 7th gets closer, we get a email from Dell on July 1st about the delay...to July 15th...I was of course curious and proceeded to call customer service (i hate them..with a passion...trying to tell me i ordered a good laptop and that is a great deal...WEll NO CRUD!)

    So July 8th rolls around and i check the site on a whim, and what do you konw...another delay , this time to July 22nd (NO EMAIL?).

    Furious, i called customer service and again, they are no help.

    I used the # in the OP on Wednesday i think and it says its in the 'boxing stage'. Also when i called the CS line, they explained its in the 'final stages' but had no other info.

    so frustrated.....been a huge amount of dissappointment :mad:

    Order Placed: June 2 , 2009
    First EDD: July 7, 2009
    First Delay: July 15, 2009
    Second Delay: July 22, 2009


    The kicker is, we are leaving the country for 4 months on July 25th and were going to use this on our trip. I explained to the customer service that if I do no recieve an email by Wednesday showing shipped, im cancelling and doing something else.

    they told me they didn't have the parts, so they cancelled and restarted. I went through dell financial and just paid the full payout price, so they have my money, and I have buyers regret because by the time we get this cutting edge machine, its gonna be freaking aug and new tech will be announced and its gonna be cheaper than what we all paid back in june lol, Makes me sad

    join the club you and your girlfriend. dell and alienware cares for your holiday so it was released in the beginning of summer so you can order it but you will get it in autumn when you return. its too heavy to carry with your rest baggages during your trip.

    did they say combination of parts?

    Is there any speculation on why they are taking so long for ppl to recieve thier orders?

    I saw rumors of missing parts, not enough inventory, bad screens etc

    But as im reading more of this thread, i notice ppl who ordered before me and you are getting thier machines. What gives?

    did we upgrade something that they have to order from Russia? : :confused:

    yes these two are actually two opposite facts. how is it possible for others to get their machines faster than others who ordered before them while speaking for missing parts? no one knows what happens actually.

    generally people with the lower resolution screen get their machines faster which is normal if the high res screen is difficult to be found.

    on the other side some people with the 1900 x1200 get their machines faster than others with the same screen ordered before them. even they know someone in dell or we order parts from an other planet as i did.

    this 2 x 160 gb hdds must be the cause for me. the second bracket must need months to be prepared. or is it the silver chassis? they spend too much color on it.

    just to make humor.

    She wanted a MAC for a long while before we actually started looking. Then we looked at alienware and the mx17 wasn't even available, then we looked again a few days later and BAM, itw as there. So we purchased. <insert sob story here>

    She plays games on her computer so we figured alienware (high end) was the way to go.

    I understand Mac isn't optimal, but try telling a girl that she can't have the 'pretty looking' laptop :p

    Suggestions other than Dell/Alienware ?

    if you buy mac she will be able to play solitaire and photoshop. lool. dont do that. women dont know much. you should. there are other pcs that she may like i am sure. if i am crying for the money i gave since 10th of june you will cry for the money you gave for mac for your whole life.

    There must be another phase in there somewhere? where's the homicidial stage? or the grind-your-teeth-till-your-gums-bleed phase?

    order system online and via phone keeps saying "your EDD will be available within the next 48hrs"..that was wednesday last week..

    the site says "3 business days" till it's available there - we're on the 4th now and i'm reluctant to ask my rep for an update as she simply doesn't know anything..hadn't even heard about the LCD screen issues before i mentioned it..

    i see people are hitting a mid-late august EDD now....arggffffffffff

    yeps...Alienware is definitely taking a beating/kicking over these delays..

    it's all good though - most people luckily know that Alienware is top notch components and build quality, but for new people it might be a bit of a "shock" to the system when they're faced with all of these problems - especially since it's the first BIG release in the Dell/Alienware marriage.

    Ok - i sent an email to the rep that's handling my case and asked if there was any further delays as it keeps staying in "Order Received" status, both via the web site and the automated order system via the phone.

    According to what i can see all-round, then the LCD screen is still slowing things down to some extent, but am wondering if there's anything else that's causing further backlogs of orders - anybody know anything?

    No it's being made by pinguins on the South Pole!

    And they dont use UPS or Fedex anymore for shipping but Santa Claus. You might see EDD's of late December showing up soon because of that.

    I'd like to say that it's a reflection of the macroeconomical situation we're finding ourselves in today...that, AND the fact that i'm feeling a bit blue about the delay(s) with my M17x :(

    trawling YouTube constantly and watching all the goodie movies about the M17x...is that healthy?

    I've watched all the M17x videos multiple times given there is only 4 or 5 and am constantly checking for new ones... which there is a complete lack of... so I say yes it is healthy... or else were both in trouble ;)
