how does it feel like US customers? losing the earth from your feet. so we are speaking about global delays now on.
-
we can't help were awesome
-
i ordered mine on June the 19th its esd was the July the 14 well its now the 13 and my esd is changed to aug 11.
after spending 5000$ and they want me to wait 2 mths. there crazy i think i will be canceliing unless they can get it faster or sweeten the deal. -
where are you located USA i presume?
Seems a common problem here they have a shipment going out tomorrow calm down -
Don't you mean today it is the 13
-
yea USA. sry today is 13th it was supposed to be here tommorow i checked lastnight the esd on the site was still for the 14th. but now the site has been updated to show a esd of AUG 11. when i order it on june the 19th
that almost 2 full mths -
basicly im getting charged for hardware prices in june and dell is making money buy buying them at cheaper aug prices
-
yea i ment today
i slept for 21 hours -
they don't charge you till it ships
-
i understand that they dont charge till the ship but even so the price of the lap wont change, just there profit margin ,and by waiting so long there might be a new part added which isnt an option at this point in time
-
it applys the new EDD with any one with the system i made it out of production before the 2 delay
Use the OP to check you status ... if your in build the delay applys if your in boxing then it does not apply -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Shiz I'm in build... I didn't know there was a second delay... what's going on?
-
mine shows in production still but its been at that stage since the june 20th
-
they are out of LCD evidently ...
The 2 shipment wasn't enough -
you have to call the number on the OP
LIKE i told you -
Yeah does make sense when you look at my situation it may be automated since today was my esd it seen it wasn't shipped and automatically move it forward
-
i dont know of any other way to check on its status
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Okay well evidently I should still have and LCD as I ordered at the same time as other people who are now going into boxing
lame
-
i just told you call the number on the first page
-
you ordered over a week after me
-
Looks as though things are starting to get heatded in here
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
I'm not refering to you obviously Moo... I'm speaking of the guy who ordered his on the 27th and alreasy went into boxing... This is just taking soo long, they can not possibly have this many orders....
-
he had a 1440 screen he posted that
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Grr your right... I just assumed since they got a new shipment of screens in I would have been moving on as well... surely they had enough screens to reach my order...
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
things are getting worse than better apparently. at least some us customers start felling the way europe and generally no-us customers do. this is not good of course.
if things are getting bad in US then there is nowhere that they go right? oUO -
yes they could have a ton of orders...
being dell is a world known brand and now the fact that an AW system can be purchased by others in places never able to before... -
Thank you
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
yes but actually i never thought this would be for bad.. if purchase means that you order the system and you get it when the next model comes foreword (less orders-parts for previous one) then i agree with you.
i think that they should really enforce their background (suppliers etc) before talking about worldwide purchases at least for high end alienwares and even before they marry with dell except if they believe this will happen now on after we (the experiments) face all this situation.
and many countries that dell is spread to still cant purchase m17x. what is going to happen then? -
Well, I guess they had enough screens for me
I went into boxing today. I ordered the 23th. Would I get it 2 weeks from now? I wish it comes late by 1 day, that way I get a bonus.
How long does boxing take on average? -
Back to sitting on pins and needles. My estimated delivery date has been updated to August 14th on the order status website. Calling the 800 number gets me the message that it's in the boxing stage (since Thursday), but it no longer gives an estimated ship date.
My frustration is starting to rise. -
3-5 days. Mine was 5 or 6 days, I don't remember exactly.
-
it is called pains of growing and acquiring a business.
maybe they bassed the numbers on previous AW releases and projected only a fraction more for the M17x.
AW has been known to be more $$ then the counterparts in the biz, but that comes with being able to offer a true gaming rig without bloatware and such.
now with the dell company running things, this is a new venture for them, even though they sold xps units prior, but nothing on the scale that AW has.
pains of growing...that is all. -
I called and spoke to a rep. He told me to ignore the date posted on the order status page and that his system was showing a date of July 23rd. He said that due to the popularity of the machine they had to revise the ship date. It's funny since I called last week and was told that there was nothing delaying my order and that it should still ship on the 13th.
It's always been my experience that Dell underpromises and overdelivers when it comes to estimating shipping times and dates. This is the first exception to that that I've ever encountered, and I've ordered several hundred machines in the past 3 years. Maybe I should have ordered using our business account instead of my home account. -
Ok I just got off the phone with Dell and the reason he gave me was due to the screens and high volume of orders but then I had asked him that when I called to check the status it showed my order was in the boxing stage and he replied by saying it was and that I shouldn't be affected my delay was due to an automated resonse since I was supposed to ship today and it hasn't yet
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
our pain actually. i am sure the consequences will be bad for them. and even when they -grow- enough the customers will always remember what they faced being the experiments of growing. but this is the ethical part of the story. already many orders cancelled and mine is going to follow soon if my edd changes which is the most possible. if this happens i will wish you good luck and i will leave. i just dont want to remember this crap summer . -
i understand, but i am just offering another angle to look at it instead of getting all upset since that certainly cant change anything.
if you want to cancel, then by all means do it. your loss, thier gain, as it will be sold to the next person willing to wait.
some people dont care, others do...id much rather wait for a unit i want then cancel and buy something in place of it and not like the replacement.... -
my retarded guy said it was true
and that the EDD was true ...
ROTFLMAO so they are out of screens for 4 weeks .....rightttt
he also said boxing wasn't boxing thats its the last touches of the building stage lol -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
if i hadnt ordered i would be of the same opinion. i am sure for that.
for me it is a dream of three years while i was gathering the money. as i never had a gaming laptop or gaming pc in general. i only had a middle range laptop playing most of the last games but with medium resolution and fps.
so now that the time came for me ,dell has an other opinion. so killing my three years dream is not the best feeling. the company is killing its own laptop. who could have thought of that before?
yes they put the last parts as they put it in the box. like the alienhead. lool . its the dell growing.. if i see you us customers with 4 weeks delay i think i expect something for sure. a few days left. -
ok - no response from my rep - as i said earlier, i'm at 4 weeks wait, with 1 cancelled order, now my new order (which has been received) is still sitting with the same status "order recieved" which it has been for 5 days.
my rep didn't respond to me (could have gone home for the day, but she's responded before at this time of day) and i wonder if she actually knows what's going on...
hell, she didn't even know about the LCD problems, and gave the reason that my order was cancelled due to the cpu being out of stock - upgraded the cpu (excellent, thanks for that) but now i hear nothing from her.
She tells me she'll get back to me asap, but i get nothing unless i chase her up..
frustration is mounting for me that's for sure. phone system is STILL saying that my EDD will be there within the next 48 hours (again, it's been saying that since last wednesday) and i'm starting to wonder if i'm being pulled around by the nose here... -
I agree with you Ryujin - this is a massive challenge for Dell...but, as with many other corporations, reputation means a LOT, and they're loosing out from the Alienware fans that's not only waited a long time for the M17x to be released, but now we're hearing that people are paying $5000+ and are required to wait 2 months??
and, it's certainly not Dell's gain to have customers cancel - what on earth makes you say that? you got any idea how bad word-of-mouth is for a business? the sphere of influence you could affect by simply putting a bad review out would be costing ANY corporation a major amount of money.
Lets say for instance if i was a "p-rick" i could influence about 27,000 people, all IT professionals, gamers and enthusiasts - luckily i'm not though..i do have "some" morals/integrity
p)..just imagine the bad feedback that could leap out from 27,000 people? even if they only mentioned it to 1-2 people each.
no, Dell is certainly not gaining by having people cancel their orders...
Anyways, even though i'm frustrated with the lack of info and the long wait - then i am pretty confident that Dell will pull through this problem and they'll most likely never repeat it again..once of the good things about Dell is that that they tend to learn from mistakes...
When it comes down to it - the Alienware M17x is worth a loooong wait...can still be grumpy about it, but i'm definitely not going to tell them not to bother with my unit
it's total yum!
It's really just a case of Dell being the victim of their own success here...i doubt they'd actually ever estimated how massive this laptop was going to be.. -
im not going to argue with you for your reasons, but it seems a few extra weeks after a 3 year wait is nothing to get upset over...if it is what you want, then sit back and relax, knowing you are finally getting the gaming rig you've been saving and waiting for.
you know, there used to be a time when car dealers had only a cpl cars on the lot to look at, and all buyers had to place orders and wait....
but this is where dell covers themselves...it is an "estimated" time frame...not a gauranteed one... -
That's the thing... I'm not happy about this delay at all, but I'm not going to cancel my order, because this is a machine that I want.
It's not hurting Dell, really. The demand for this machine is greater than they expected. Which means that all this business they're getting, they're getting in addition to what they planned for. Even if a lot of people cancel, the demand is still there. Dell's reputation is already a mixed bag. Many people love them, many hate them. One enthusiast computer won't sway the balance.
Still. My last machine (Sager 5760/Clevo M570U) died just as the M17x was announced, so I'm anxiously awaiting returning to my games. -
Actually - the main thing is to manage customer expectations...yes, a corporate entity could cover itself legally etc etc, but in the end reputation would be damage.
if the statement is given like this:
"your estimated date of delivery is on, or before, the 10th of July"
then the expectation is that it wont be after the 10th of July - and i think this is where people are getting upset..the expectations are being set, even though you could pour it through a siv and see "estimated" in there, then those small extra words "is on, or before, the 10th of July" is were the weight is carried.
The problem right now is that some are giving one reason, some another, and some reps are letting people down by promising something that wont happen.
I'll actually retract my earlier statement that Alienware is taking a kicking here - i honestly think that it's Dell that's taking it, rather than Alienware.
