I think it's safe to assume that one phase would "flow" onto another at some point, so you're probably right

 

boxing mean its done and being boxed to ship not installing screens and setting up then boxed

 

I for one did not think that Alienware's first leap into the global marketplace would be a smooth, uneventful affair. Especially considering the leap was made with a brand new product with the latest gen hardware.

No number cruncher could possibly predict the volume that would be required for such a switch. Especially since Dell still has the m1700 series available.

I am absolutely stoked that Alienware has become so popular that their predicted hardware inventory was not near enough. This means much more business for Alienware, ensuring that one of my favorite companies has arrived and will continue to pump out products.

Bottom line is, these delays are not normal for Alienware and they are not normal for Dell. I really think this is a one-time growing pain and that with a newly acquired gauge of popularity to go by, we won't see such delays from lack of inventory in the future.

Or maybe they will blow up even more and delays will be akin to Harleys and super cars (ie order a year or two in advance)! Get your top o' the line (two year old tech) laptop here!!

I feel for those who have been lost in the shuffle. Just know that this really isn't the norm for Dell or Alienware. Maybe the questionable customer service is, but the delays are not. Hopefully these events will not scare you away from Alienware permanently, I don't blame you if it does though. 5k is a lot o dough to have in limbo.

I called yesterday and they told me that mine was ready to be shipped on the 13th (today) and now I check order status on the website, my EDD changed from July 17th to Aug. 14th. Im not sure what happened but Ill call now and see.

 

if you went into boxing thursday, yours "SHOULD" ship this week, mine went into boxing on a thursday and was shipped on a tuesday, received that same thursday.

 

i think it was just system wide i still hve confidence if your in boxing you will be fine ...

I was in production since the 21st so im pretty sure its coming within a week if not i probably will cancel guys

 

I've never bought an Alienware before, but i've bought Dell for years (and yes, it's common for Dell actually..have had it happen tons of times before, but, nevermind that), so as for Alienware then their reputation is awesome. I think any gamer or enthusiast would recognise the little alien head as quality..no doubt about that.

So, yeps, it's most likely growing pains and what you're saying makes sense - should we really have expected a move, on this massive a scale, to be painless? actually, nopes...thanks for reminding me what's at stake here

nah, i don't think Alienware would suffer from this and if the M17x delivers as much as it promises then i'll buy Alienware again...no doubt about it! Would i buy Dell, without the Alienware brand, that remains to be seen. I've been burned somewhat terribly, but that's my story and lets not get into that

 

ok i will make it clear then. i cant wait not only because my patience is depleted but also because i am leaving country in 2 months and in 3-4 weeks i leave my current adress permanently. so you guess that the m17x will arrive to nowhere.

except that i need it during the next two weeks for business reasons too and not only for gaming.

when i ordered on 10th of june i took account of that. how could i expect 2 months of delay if not more?

 

this is a story for kids.

so the screen is not the problem and you are in US regarding the bluray burner.

called dell on the phone he told me dont pay attention to the website order status page, he also said i may not get it on the 14th maybe a few days after

this reminds me of my rep who told me that mine was shipped on 22 of june also telling me to ignore the online order status. i still try to understand where did she get this info from.

i hope you are more lucky than me.

 

i told my rep by email sent it or sent a refund two mths is to long to wait be yesterdays tech if i have to wait much longer

 

if it isn't shipped by Wednesday, i will as well

 

Some of you just need to practice a little patience. I understand some are upset due to the delays and other factors that have been posted about, i was upset too while i waited on mine. In the end though from someone that currently has theirs the wait is and will be worth it. Unless you really want to cancel then cancel but if this is something you really want why cancel and go with something else you may regret in the future?

Patience is a virtue that we all have, we just don't all practice it at all times.

i think the waiting list is bigger than the list of sold m17xs

 

everybody knows that. patience is not something that is controlled when speaking about this behaviour. if i had got mine as scheduled i would teach some patience as well.

i will personally cancel my order as things show but i wont buy something else so as not to regret i bought something else as you said. and actually nothing else is like that. so i will make it with my small acer d150. but i wont regret that i cancelled. no way.

YAY! Status is shipped! Everyone who ordered around the same time (June 18-23) have probably shipped as well. Looks like I'll be down with H1N1 on Wednesday...

Anyway, I went into boxing today, and got an email saying my order will be shipped in 24Hrs to 48Hrs.

Mine has been in the "boxing" stage since 7-11-09, but I have not received any emails from Dell about it. I found out by call one of the 800 numbers.

 

Mine says shipped too! I should have it TOMORROW! Holy hell.

 

Well, my EDD has been bumped to July 23rd. Still counting myself as lucky compared to some though.

As we have seen it sometimes depends on WHAT you order in your configuration. Would everyone put their on order items in your signature so we can see better what is happening with the orders if it's not too much trouble? For example in my sig....

 

well mine has an edd of 21 july and its still in production . who believes that my edd is not fake and it wont change once again or will be cancelled? lets vote. it should be shipped already to be here on 21 of july. lets say half a month or more delay, shipping delay i should say middle of august or september? again i ordered 10th of june. no thank you i wont wait any more. really NOTHING DESERVES THIS WAIT except if it is a porsche or a bugatti as someone refered to me before. i am just waiting for the edd to change again after more than 1.5 month since my initial order. this will be the final action they do.

if someone in here believes that my configuration deserves that i will hear him with joy always regarding the configuration of orders that have been shipped in less than one month.

untill yesterday my edd was the 14th but this morning it has moved to aug 11. called dell they said dont pay attention to the order status page "its on the way"( kinda of like the check is in the mail)

 

It seems as tho most peoples are leaving the factory now. I guess they got their shipment of parts or chasis' - so the shipping should commence. Yours probably won't be far behind.

 

hope not since i ordered on june the 19th. that would make almost 2 mths of waiting

A rep just told me that there are three things in my order that are on backorder 1. LCD 2. Memory Modules (I guess the 1333) 3. The Alienware Keyboard. They still say mine should ship no latter than August 3rd. They upped my shipping to Next Day Air without even asking...

Yesss mine has now shipped. On the website they had changed the EDD to 8/14/2009 now it changed again to 7/16/2009 and went from "In production" to "Shipped".

 

we are speaking of the M17x here, right?
