    A little over and hour, up to and hour and a half with the dedicated GPU's and about 3 hours with the Intergrated card... even higher if you disable the lighting and a few other things...

    I've read that the battery life is about an hour and a half with all the goodies turned on, and three hours in stealth mode.

    You wont be able to play Crysis with all those settings on in battery mode just an FYI . That battery cant take that kind of load lol. When you unplug it should revert to the discrete GPU or downclock the GPU and CPU . you can crank up the CPU to full speed but you are not gonna be able to run SLI on battery mode.

    They are genius for sure , but running a 9400m/9600gt is not remotely in the same league as running a 3.0ghz Quadcore and 280mSLI LOL.

    You friend must be pretty handy then since the CPUs are soldered to the motherboard :). Even if he did have a quadcore in it that still doesnt even count the Video cards which consume so much power it would scare you.

    When you get some time take a look on line at the power needs of a 9600gt vs a 9800gtx(similar to your 260mGTX) .

    They dont work that way Biscuits as the cards downclock in 3dmode on battery , you might be able to "play" it for a couple minutes Not even sure on that one with SLI but it would be "unplayable" since it would be running at much slower speeds.

    When Mandrake is on tomorrow im sure he can clear this up for you :).

    that 9 cell battery is not designed to play games on with discrete GPUs , its really for the 9400m and web browsing or playing some casual games.

    You can play though things life half life 2 on a 9400m very easily and even left4dead as my friend does it on his 13inch macbook no problem . So yes there is some gaming to be done on battery but not crysis gaming :).

    Okay, now I'm really pumped to get it! It really just popped into my head that I could just buy another battery, so I think I'm not going to send my M17x back whenever I get it. I just hope they start boxing it soon. 3 weeks in Build is way too long!

    Yay we convinced you... would you like a cookie... muahaha ;) anyway have you called the actual Dell number instead of just online? the number is 1-800-283-2210... then press 3... 2....1....1 and say your Order number into the phone and it will tell you your true status

    Here in Australia, the automated order status phone service pretty much mimicks the online status - never seen it say anything different than what's displayed on the site.

    takes around 3 working days for the site to update (or so it says) and the phone system says 48hours instead. That being said, it's lying in any case as it's not necessarily getting updated info you in that timeframe..

    Sorry to hear :( I just read thru and saw that.

    It is an easy fix as long as it is the fan and not the mobo header for the fan. You should have just asked Dell to send the fan so you could put it in.

    And me n Gabe decided to go that way since if it is the MOBO he would be already here, then i don't have to wait 2 times for them to come out and diagnose the MOBO. He can just write the report so i get my machine

    I just reached the boxing phase(YEAH!). Does Dell usually delivers before the EDD? The EDD got postponed by a week so I will be abroad when they'll deliver :(.
