*OFFICIAL* M17x Order Status Thread...

It is coming from Tennessee so you might get it that quick but I don't think so.

Probably Tuesday since you got Fedex Home Delivery (which is Dell's 3-5 day) and there isn't any Monday deliveries with Fedex Home, unfortunately.

 

when i was on the phone with the dell rep ordering, he said it was being made in austin tx. so i thought it was coming from austin but who knows. i am just pumped!

 

You'll be lucky if you get it on Sunday, im hoping for mine to come in around Sunday also since mine aparently shipped july 16th but since i dont have a tracking number for some odd reason i will never know... Seriously its like they didnt give me a number just to make me die waiting for it since i know its on its way but not where it is after waiting 2 months....

 

What do you guys think for the keyboard lights... 1 solid color or a mix of 4 different or 2? Or possibly 3, the two outer sides say red and blue and the inside 2 purple, a mix of blue and red

 

don't worry it will come. i had to re order mine because the first one got delayed and i just canceled and re ordered again. mine is sitting outside of dalles tx

 

Since all couriers in the US dont deliver on Sundays (unless were talking custom critical) I don't know why you think its coming on a Sunday...

Im already grinning now and mine hasnt even shipped yet .

Mine went into boxing before Biscuits did atleast earlier in the day and his was ordered 2 days before mine so i imagine they should be shipping on the same day . When that is though is anyones guess.

Hopefully monday though since i paid for overnight shipping and i want to actually get what i paid for lol.

Had it shipped today i would have had to wait till monday and wasted that extra $$ on the shipping.

EDIT: How much did you pay for your system, quad? There is a new value code out that saves about $350 and I'm debating whether or not to keep waiting or pull the trigger now. I had the 260's and WXGA but now the evalue code will let me go with more options.

I've always wanted one of these ausome dell/alienware laptops but never get them and always buy from stores like MDG or bestbuy... Having something as awesome as this so close just feels like it will never happen... it just dosent feel like i will have it just something i will always want

 

Can I ask what the new value code is?

 

I wouldnt send my machine back and try to get a full refund now then have to wait to build one all over again that is for certain , even if i could save a few hundred bucks.

I like saving money as much as the next guy but to me that is just way to much hassle IMHO.

No The systems are built in China, and shipped to a Dell distribution center,one of the main centers is located in Nashville TN and that's where most will go.

 

Ship already! Can't wait much longer. I may be pissed if it comes in 2 weeks because I will not be home. Ship this week!

Alright so i was just cheking out the M17... did anyone else notice now you can have 2 4850's and a qx9300 in it...

 

I was hoping all of ours would have shipped yesterday... since a new batch went out but oh well... you guys are both in boxing as well?

To Kageromara, give it a little time and 4870's will be available for the M17x... and then anyone who bought the M17 will be sad... anyway I'm set with 2 280m's I have been playing with a 8800GT desktop for 2 years and have been completely happy

 

That went into affect on Tuesday i believe for the 4850s in the M17 . Theres a couple threads about it on the main Alienware page .

 

The normal M17 (not M17x), I would not buy. Dell/Alienware does not cover any other Alienware except the M17x because it was the only laptop made by Alienware while Dell owns it. Meaning, if anything goes wrong with the M17, you can either fix it yourself or throw it away. M17x is the way to go.

 

When the 4870's come out for the M17x is there way to like send it in to be upgraded or something?

 

Lol haha, well i dont think Alienwares service is that bad but it sure is not as nice as Dells .

Quad, it is a fact. I called Alienware about the M17 and they said they can not cover any other Alienware because Dell took over, including the repair procedure. Dell handles all repairs now and they don't want anything to do with the M17 or the older M15x.

 

No i know Dell only handles the M17x but i was just saying that Alienware does infact have a warranty service so chucking it in the trash if it breaks is not the only options lol . You just have to send it back to them to get it fixed.

I have owned 2 Alienware products in my life and thankfully neither of them ever needed repair and im grateful for that as i hate shipping my machine out and then playing the waiting game.

 

I'm almost 100% sure that Alienware does not cover any other laptop either. They covered the other laptops when they were independent but I'm pretty sure now they don't. Both Dell and Alienware reps spoke to me and told me this. I was actually going to buy the M17 until I heard that it would not be repaired. Then I switched to M17x.

 

What ??? haha of course they fix there own laptops lol where would you get that idea from ??? go configure one and you can add up to 4 years of warranty lol. they just dont fix the M17x is all.

 

I know what the configuration options are, I'm just going by what Dell and Alienware actually told me over the phone.

 

Dude come on , No one is going to buy a 4 or 5k laptop and not have a warranty ? think about what your even saying .

Yeah... me too. I'm now debating whether I should go 4 years instead! I'm always having second thoughts on the configuration after the order placement... so annoying.

 

you can always extend later. I only do a year at a time.

 

Yeah i always take the stock warranty and then decide from there.

 

I know what I'm saying. Like I said, I'm just going by what the reps told me. They could be lieing to me again, they lied to me about not being able to cancel an order while it is in the "In Production" stage, when you can.

It will be more costly that much is clear . It really depends on how long you plan on keeping the machine for .

I myself usually hold onto laptops for about a year maybe but this one might be longer if they release new cards for it.
