Why wouldn't they charge you... it was built to your specs.... as you ordered it.

 

There going to charge you a restocking fee without a doubt if there is nothing wrong with the machine , since you didnt open it you wont know if there was or was not .

 

I'm not too worried about the restocking fee because I have no problem paying for it if I must. Hybrid, there is always more than one person that builds the same laptop. As far as the nameplate, they just remove it.

 

I realize that more than one orders to the same specs.

I'm a cabinet maker and I could say that if someone ordered a kitchen from me to their specs and it was built and delivered to them and they decided they didn't want it that they would surely be paying some type of fee for the work and time that went into it. It's not like going into Walmart and buying something of the shelf and returning it a week later.

Not trying to be rude but you have to see both sides.

I will say 15% is a bit high thou....mabey 5% to 10% would be a little more fair.

Yep those are GTX280s, same info is on mine .

quick rundown: QX9300, 6GB 1333Mhz, WUXGA, SLI 280M, 500GB 7,200RPM, Blu-ray Disc Burner (BD-R/RE, DVD+RW, CD-RW), respawn DVD.


I am coming off from XPS Gen2 laptop, latitude laptops....
Don't play games (Last game i plaied was Quake, the frst one with CTF mod), but rendering, cad, and just the most powerful system i can get. I am running Cadworx Plant, autocad, wildfire/ProE, solid works, Hisys/Aspen, mathcad. So just need computing power... (often work away from office, so a 15 lb laptop bag is a usual for me).


The wait begins..

 

You forgot to mention the cards you picked. Although it seems you went with 280's from your setup.

well I I have bought 1 IBM, 1 Gateway, and about a dozen new Dells. I would not have bought the AW, but it was blnking on the dell's sitee. SO I got interested and had to google. If it is dell, I will give it a shot. $5000 for a computer is not the most I have paid for a pc, but I am looking for a pc that i can use. My 4 year old XPS Gen2 still "outchug" the "run of the mill" laptop my employer would supply for me.
oh yeah 4-year warantee with onsite tech...I am not a "dell-fanboi" I had my grouges with them, but in a long run Dell is the easiest one for me to live with.
So Clevo D900F maybe a great laptop, however not for me.... ok maybe i am a dell-fanboy ....just in denial

Well you could have got the Clevo D900F for cheaper, it comes with a base configuration of 6GB triple channel ram, and a core i7 920 processor, for a bit less than the M17x, it is also around the same size and weight, but it is not SLI capable, so it is inferior in terms of gaming with only a single GPU. With its choice of i7 desktop processors the D900F seems better suited to what you say you need the laptop for, but I'm sure you will be more than happy with your M17x though, the QX9300 is quite a powerhouse as well especially when over clocked.

 

Well - enough is apparently just about enough.

I now have Dell Corporate Affairs Australia looking into my "order" and why it's being delayed constantly.

Was contacted this morning by a snr. manager from DCAA and they're going to sort out it for me now.

seems like i can see light at the end of the tunnel...keep thinking happy thoughts, en QuadZilla?? all pans out in the end!

 

You should be asking for a discount as well for all that BS they are putting you through, they owe you more than just the laptop now.

Well ill be honest if i had gone through even half of what you went through i would have canceled it along time ago . You have the patience of a saint my friend so hopefully it pays off in the end and more so i hope if and when you get the machine you actually like the darn thing .

 

just tell them you want a FAT discount !!!!

 

This is a replacement unit, so i actually don't pay anything

still, 9 months of problems and 2 months of screwing around now seems to be on the right track!!

thanks - patience is a virtue somebody told me..that and having access to power tools (not sure how that plays in).

I'm sure i'll love the thing once it arrives - can't wait to unbox the beaut!!

 

Maybe thats the real issue and where all the problems stem from being a replacement unit?.

 

Been informed that it's not the case...but then again, could be wrong here.

can understand that it'd be put being those that bought it outright, but now that the queues has gone down severely it should shuffle along.

however, that being said, it's about customer expectations and how to manage them - if i'd been told straight away that since there's a backlog of orders there would be a sizeable delay, then i'd have been fine with that. but keeping me in the dark and treating me like a mushroom sort of set me off a bit.

anyways, i'm grateful that somebody's taken care of it now and are on the ball with this!!

 

I cant get to sleep, someone please help me! I should be receiving my laptop tomorrow "its being held in a location an hour away from where I live by Purolator" and I feel like a kid trying to get to sleep on Christmas Eve lol.

Haha, well, Dell has now updated me with a tracking number for FedEx Ground. Now begins the waiting game

 

Best thing ever (i do this at christmas as well)!!

500ml/1 pint Whiskey (JW red label is good enough)
put it in a pot and heat it up, don't boil it.
add slices of lemon (2-3 slices)
add 3 table spoons of honey.

pour into cup/mug/flask and drink while warm..

it'll make you sleep like a baby i tell you! also, it's a good anti-viral for flus, throat infections, lost limbs and common colds too my scottish wife swears by it when i'm sick!

No they shipped it to the "shipper" today lol... they probably shipped it to UPS or whatever... although I really do hope you get it tomorrow, you should wait to install your Q9200 until I get my M17x... then we can install it together via webcam ! mainly cuz well I'm a little nervous.. I have never switched out the CPU in a laptop before... and I don't know how the M17x comes apart so you could help

Overnight Via Fed ex gets handled differently that much i do know . Its a good chance though it wont be here till tuesday as well but im still remaining hopeful We dont actually know when they shipped the stuff as for all we know it could have actually been saturday .

As for the web cam thing i dont have a web cam on any of my desktops lol . not a fan of the whole camera thing and the one PC that will have one is the one being ripped apart .

Mandrakes guide though could not be any easier . Its a total no brainer (for me atleast) .

You really need to quit worrying about though and just do it .

I got my CPU delivered tonight by my friend and its a beauty lol. Looks like brand new . Had to peel off those 2 white stickers and that was it .
