i have a simple question, are your orders taking this long because of the building time? or is it because there's a release date thats holding it back?
-
not sure
but its not building times, it could be they are double checking every thing. the release date is past there are some orders EST for june..... you have to understand they now have hundreds of thousands of systems to build -
I still think that most systems ordered on June 2nd and June 3rd will come in June, way before the EDD of July 2nd or July 3rd.
-
Just wish DELL would treat all customers the same and give them the same facilities. The only way we here in Europe can track our order is through the internet. And we can't get more detailed info through telephone.

Thanks sleey for the number. I am of course like everyone else also in the build stage. This may be a long month in my life.
-
Is any of you guys, who reported to be in Production, already in the Testing or Boxing sub-category? Or is it still Build-category
Just wondering how long the Build category will take. -
ordered: 5th June, order confirmed, ETA unknown
Dell/Alienware M17x Black | QX9300 | 4 GB RAM @ 1333 MHz | GTX 280M SLI | 1 TB Raid0 (2x 500GB, 7200 rpm) | Vista Home Premium | DVD
i may have gone overboard. i'm hoping games will start using all 4 cores (efficiently) and SLI performance might improve. otherwise...I should've gone for the Sager 9280 with the (also quad) core i7 extreme and single 280M and saved about 1000 USD. if that fails, perhaps smoother game runs with all windows processes taking 2 cores and leaving 2 for the game.
didn't want raid0 but the only other options were SSDs and i don't want those just yet. -
I wish i had extra money for the extreme quad to start off with but I didn't. I am hoping that they will come down in price and around Christmas I can upgrade it. -
jk. i've been waiting to get a 'dream rig' for a long time now and had the cash saved for quite some time but then all the laptops with dual GPUs suddenly disappeared so I had to wait some more.
I'm hoping the results on these pages are more pronounced now: http://www.guru3d.com/article/cpu-scaling-in-games-with-quad-core-processors/3 - from May 2008.

Anyone notice a change in my sig?
-
-
Call and check yours. Funny thing is delivery date didn't change.
-
-
Still in build stage for me. I didn't order until 6/5 so may be a little delayed.
-
So everyone who ordered on 6-4 or before should be in the boxing stage unless they have a part on backorder.
-
Boxing stage will take about 3 days - it includes the time from the plant in Malaysia until it ships out of Tennessee.
CONGRATS MANDRAKE!!!! -
Boxing means it has shipped from overseas factory to the USA -
-
mine still says in building stage and i ordered on the third, nothing backordered either atleast nothing sayin so yet. End of today it will probably change though if others have changed.
-
One side note, my original call in to Dell was exactly 8:00AM CST on 6-2. Because of the complete care warranty issue with the EPP site my order didn't officially place until 6-4. I wonder if my place in the queue was held for me.
-
-
-
Mine is still in build and I believe my system went into production on 6/3.
Don't worry - I'll keep checking! -
-
-
I'm assuming at this point the ETA won't change until it's shipped.
-
I am in the boxing stage as well, with next day shipping it should come very fast
! I knew it would come faster than the EDD that was listed, and that it was just there to prevent backlash. I am so excited I cant wait for this system to arrive
!
-
Thanks Morgotth, it proves mine isn't an error. When did you order?
-
When did you order and what's your specs, Morgoth?
-
I ordered the third of June, my specs are qx9300, dual 280m GTX's, 4 gigs 1333mhz RAM, 250 gig 7200rpm HDD, and 1920x1200 screen with the color being Space Black and my OS is Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
-
Hmmm... I wonder if there is a shortage on the 260's.
-
-
He said black chassis (which you two in boxing have
) and T9600 (I got base proc).
-
Yeah I guess the top end and base procs were not as popular. I love my spec though, 4 gigs of ram is more than enough, for games I probably wouldn't even notice more ram, and I can't wait to max out crysis
!
-
-
Yeah I bought that too it's a great package
-
-
You could call a rep and ask them, or it could just be a backorder.
-
Clauss said he was getting called with parts that were back ordered.
-
Ordered on 6-4 currently in Boxing Stage.
-
congrats kg
-
Ordered on 6/4 as well and still in building stage.
This is just a thought, but could it be possible that dell may sit on the shipments of these laptops till after the 26th? Maybe for a possible windows 7 upgrade coupon? Just throwing it out there. -
Probably not, that would cause backlash since we know its in the boxing phase it would not be a good idea on their part. If they wanted to do that they would have just kept the order status on build, thats what I think anyways. I doubt they would sit on the shipments for that.
