*OFFICIAL* M17x Order Status Thread...

There has to be something that controls the colors based on what its seeing on the screen but ill bet its handled in the hardware and nothing software based.

Would be great if they release a bios update to fix this cause im sure they could and just give you the option to disable/enable.

We can only hope but still a nice screen either way and has the potential to get even better i guess is the best way to describe it.

Honestly after turning my desktop background to pure white ill have to say it probably is 400 nits . Its so bright its amazing lol. but not all the time hehe

No I did not. I know some of the updates are required to install it. It's possible one of the .net sp's could screw it up.

I went cheap and used 3-5 day shipping. Dell assigned a FedEx tracking number yesterday at 4:03am. FedEx says Dell never gave the box to them.
Does Dell usually drag their feet on giving the boxes to the shipper when you go cheap? I was hoping to have it this week but now I am not even sure of that.

Next time I know not to give up the old one till I have my claws dug into the new one

btw, fastest M17x build time - 24hrs - mine is leaving the factory today i've been told

did any of you have problems with the TV Tuner card? they had to ship that out seperately apparently so that's arriving before my laptop

 

That doesn't count since your order was technically sitting for over a month! lol

And yes, I think it was JBBW that had the tuner issue. He had to have a rep from Texas straighten out his order so the tuner shipped seperately as it was holding up his order.

 

Wonder where the TV tuner card gos ? maybe the Bluetooth full length pci slot.

 

yeps - the order sat in there for a loooong time - well, 4 weeks for the first, then 9 days for the second...third sat in there over the weekend and wasn't being built..

then Dell stepped in for me and they built it in 24hrs - literally overnight!!

so, it's a record build (as i said) but not a record order so, technically i'm still right

 

No idea - probably isn't going to be using it anyways will be too busy rocking with some gaming!!!

seems like i'll actually be able to play a game - going to take up COD4 again i think - and take a look at Crysis possibly - however, game requirements for me HAS to include the ability to TB somebody...lotsa smacktalk and mocking!!

 

Brand spanking new to this forum, I just want to say that I was somewhat relieved to know that I am not the only one that was counting the seconds until the arrival of this baby. My friends and family were starting to get a little worried that the sheer anticipation of my new rigs arrival would kill me. But Thanks to Sleey0 for posting that DPA phone number, I now know that my baby moved into boxing this week, not sure if today was the first day or not, but it still gives me hope I'll be getting it soon!
Ordered 7/7/09 I know I'm a late bloomer, but I was working out the money issues.
In any event, thanks to all who have posted unboxing vids on youtube, I have watched (and forced friends and family to watch as well) them multiple times. That goes for you Clauss and SumCallMeTim. I try to explain to people that it is no different than watching TLC's Baby Stories or some such, but they don't get it.
I'm having it shipped to where I work, that way the boss, grad student, and post doc I work with will be able to see first hand what all my whining/obsessing has been about!

Woot my ETA was 4 Aug 09 and it shipped on the 20th, so with 2nd day Air ill have it tomorrow....only down side im out of town till the 23rd at least it will be there waiting for me.

Ya know, on the plus side of ordering and obsessing at work, I have educated my co-workers about SLI, Core-2 Duos, etc... Of course, and chance I may have had of hooking up with the summer med student who is working in our lab has been shot to hell, but its for the best really.
I'm happy to hear its in boxing, at least its better than just looking at that same damn non-updating dell website, of course, now I'll be calling a couple of times a day.

Thanks - insofar there's been no issues with this build - the rep i'm dealing with is calling me between 10-11am to let me know the exact time it's shipping out from the factory..

i'm assuming it then goes to some fancy pickup place before the couriers pick it up??

could it mean that my swish-bang, beaut beast could arrive on Friday? (it's wednesday here) if they ship it overnight or next business day or something?
