Mine 17 3d went for delivery yesterday which was a great surprise as my EDD was 29th of July. Mind you I was chasing via email everyday for status update. Hopefully it will be delivered by Monday.

Hmm.... I'm assuming that more of the European orders are starting to ship out earlier than the US orders.

    5G WiFi Broadcom 4352 802.11n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0 driver
    Windows 8 Pro 64bit, English
3 Years NBD with Premium Phone Support
LCD Back Cover (3D) Alienware 17
I was sick and tired looking at the EDD online of a similar spec'ed Alienware being quicker then mine, when mine was ordered on the 12/6 and I question this with Dell and even threatened with cancelling my order due to how long this was taking. I was willing to wait until the 29/7 if the EDD of an Alienware quoted online was after mine, but I guess there is nothing wrong questioning things if they don't look right. Next day my order went into status being delivered, not sure if this was a coincidence!! ;)

    Ordered my 18 yesterday :)

Since these are new Intel chipsets, I'm guessing they support Raid 0 with TRIM support?

Today my order was cancelled by dell. When i rang up to find out why he said it was something to do with some parts had been discontinued. I thought this was an entirely new laptop? When i asked about reordering he said that my account manager would be in touch but it might not be until Monday now. I'm cheesed off to say the least! Also they have agreed to replace my vindicator backpack which was scuffed on the front when it arrived. To be honest I'm losing faith in dell. I have always bought my computers from dell since my first desktop in 2001. But this time round it has been quite stressful.

You all are getting on my nerves. You all ordered a hugely anticipated laptop wanted by millions around the world, and your complaining because they're probably getting so many orders they don't even know how to cope with it. I'm sure their doing their best to whip out as many laptops as they can, you guys need to be patient. Sooner or later you will get your laptops, we understand, the mishaps and random cancellations are getting old, but they are acknowledging these frustrations and willing to work with you guys. So what's the problem?

I agree with you Mustang, I'm anxiously waiting myself, but understand the logistics are daunting. However, I think the "problem" that people are having is that Dell is an international company, and should have been ready for a launch of computers that "millions" will order. Dell has been sloppy and inconsistent (i.e. people who just ordered last week getting their comps before people who ordered day one). I'm irritated myself, however, I do appreciate that Dell placed EDD's so far out (mine is July 25th) so as to accommodate so many orders. Therefore, you will not hear me complain until (if) they miss my EDD. If they do, I'll be hiring St. Satan to bring about Armageddon ;)

Like I said, I understand and I know dell has a role to play in it. I wasn't pointing fingers at a certain someone or anybody for that matter, just generally everybody is, and I'm sure I would to. It's just not going to make it come faster haha.

Dell supported it with a stock BIOS update as well... but the one that svl7 modded provided the Intel OROM with RAID0 TRIM support before Dell released their BIOS update. In fact, svl7 doing that might be the reason Dell released it. Hard to say which came first... the chicken or the egg. ;)

Now, if we can just get Dell to copy svl7 and leave of all the BIOS menus accessible, we would be in great shape.

Maybe not my friend but I believe that it is good for us to have a community of people who are going through some of the same issues so that we cant vent to each other. Im sure if you dropped 1-5k on a laptop and your order was suddenly cancelled, or the manufacturer (dell) was not well equipped to deliver the goods in a timely fashion, you would complain too. Especially when the typical response dell gives is "deal with it".

I think (for me, at least) the issue is after it was cancelled my estimated delivery date was pushed back by a week and a half. I'm not overly bothered but it is more the principle. Other than that, it's the fact my account manager doesn't tell me anything I only know its cancelled because I see it on the order status, and it isn't rebooked until I call back and ask what is going on.

It's says partially shipped which concerns me a little. The dimensions of the package are 16x13x9. Should be the comp right?

I emailed Dell this morning about my order (placed 6/11) and they called me back within 5 hours. The rep says my 17 is in final stages of production (testing I think) and what he said was that orders were delayed due to part shortages from a certain chip supplier. It seemed to me that the rep has heavily implying that While Dell was equipped to launch, Nvidia was not (Asus has had delays concerning Nvidia as well, not sure about Clevo or MSI). At any rate He thinks many systems will be shipped within the next two weeks.

Guess what everyone!!!!! 17 days in pre production called today by "miss no name" and order canceled. Apparently some parts for the 18" system are 3 MONTHS on back order. I was raging and gobsmacked. I was at work when they told me this. Best thing is they want me to rebook the same spec after getting confirmation the parts are available?!!?!?!?!?!? and want to charge me £1950 instead of my £1721.74 and credit me over £350 after the new order ships. Im really raging to the max, cos i kept calling in and emailing just keep checking as the system was moving anywhere and they finally after 17 days realise there is a problem. Im going to ask for a better spec for the price for all the messing around ive had. I could of got a new machine from pcspecialist shipped and be using now in al this time. THANKS YOU VERY MUCH DELL! :(

For those who have received their Alienware laptops; has anyone received their Dell Advantage benefits gift card yet? If so, was it by mail or email? My order shows 2 Dell Advantage benefit items shipped last month with no tracking order ("waiting on carrier's information"). Dell Support is telling me that both orders are one gift card and it should arrive in an email in 10-15 days... Could they make this more confusing?

Well, my AW14 just shipped this afternoon. Ordered 6/11. FedEx estimates delivery on Monday, 7/8 (which is good, because I have homework to do this weekend). I'm so excited! You bet I'll be booking it from class on Monday straight back to my dorm to greet my new computer (and saying goodbye to my MB Pro, as it's slower than no other). Can't wait!

And if you don't believe me, here's a screenshot of the order status page. Screen Shot 2013-07-05 at 4.14.17 PM_copy.jpg

This has been the longest three and a half weeks ever!
I'll do an unboxing, and post some pics once I get it.

lol poor 18 buyers. 3 months to wait, thats a very very long time. In the meantime both 17 and 14 owners have enjoyed theirs.

PLS screen is nice but Dell could atleast have researched a bit more before including a screen that have quality issues discovered right after launch.

If it truly is the screen that is the main problem

I did not receive my laptop yet nor the gift card, but I do believe you get the e-gift card via e-mail. I also have a second order number which contains the Dell Advantage Benefits. I am also very confused because it says it has shipped but I have no idea what it may be. This is what it says on the Dell website regarding the 5% rebate gift card: "Promotional Gift Card ships separately from purchase, and typically arrives in 10–20 days from ship date via email and carries a 90-day expiration (except where prohibited by law)."

im not sure whether is a decoy tactic to get me to spend more, or maybe HIGHER UP THE CHAIN they have had a roasting for giving too much discount. But she did say because its dells fault of parts shortage they would refund £350 AFTER the machine has shipped.

Was just taking a look at my order, and realized that they're shipping with PowerDVD 9.6. Anyone still using that? Pretty sure they're on 13 now (at least that's what I have on my desktop) and are no longer updating title compatibility for anything but the current gen. Bit of a waste when I'll have to update for $45 once I get it anyways.

Regarding the Dell 5% promo e-card mine has also indicated shipped for quite sometime now. My case manager informed me that it's a mistake on there part and to give it 10-20 days after you receive your laptop.
