Well my buddy cancelled on me for all you hoping to get stats on the M11X. Apparently they have better things to do, but they promised Monday. Know that kinda sucks since it comes out Tuesday but it's out of my hands. I did receive this pic in an email today from them :)

I did get a little more info on the performance of the machine. Crysis performs 30FPS on medium settings plugged into an external 24" Dell 1080P monitor. It plays around 35 FPS on the computer itself.

Apparently it CANNOT stream HD video from Hulu on full screen. It will present it with stutters, and while some may consider this watchable, my source could not. Keep in mind this is with flash player 10 installed, not the 10.1 Beta. The new 10.1 version should off load some of the video processing to the integrated video or dedicated GPU.
*All testing was done in GPU mode.

It seems that this will be a great portable "netbook" solution, and will suffice for most gamers and video encoders. For all of those who will need to photoshop or use processor "heavy" programming on the fly, might want to look into the macbook. Im sure you already do.

While it does look oddly preportioned for an M17x, it does look like an M17x. So, once again. Do you have an M11x or not?

I can assure you this is the M11X. It may not be the same design exactly as what they are adverstising the design to be, or maybe not even the design of what they showed off at CES, but the picture you are looking at is an 11" computer. It is sitting next to a stapler!!! lol. I may be incorrect about the picture, but this is what their company was sent for demos.

That picture is not an M11x....note that the touchpad is off center, this never happens except on notebooks with a touchpad which we will all agree the M11x does NOT

whoever was told that was an M11x was lied to - that simple

Well I guess we will have to wait until Monday for me to confirm with my own eyes. I will tell you I'm pretty sure of four things:

    1. My source would have no reason to test or even have an M17X
    2. My source would not lie to me about this
    3. This could be the final design that will be released to consumers when the M11X is available, or
    4. This is an older "protype" design that they have re-vamped.

*Im also pretty sure the model they have (which yes is at an 11" form factor) has a lit up mouse pad as well. :)

**Believe what you want, I don't care. I just thought I would share some fun info with you guys because I can't wait for this machine either.

I just find it hard to believe what your source got would be right and dell would be wrong....those pictures are counter to what is on Dell's Alienware site...

Hey guys, why don't someone take a closer look from the machines from the video from the Dell blog with the armada of m11xs in the background and the one playing L4D2 since it has some closeups of the machine and compare it to this?

On that last picture you posted I can't see the "ribbed" design on the lid as posted on the DELL site.
    Front looks slightly different too.
Unless the re-did the design I think your friend is pulling a fast one on ya! ;)

Raydiddi, please stop trying to save face...it's rather depressing to see such rabid denial.

I can't wait for monday to come around and the best possible redemption would be actually posting a pic of the real m11x next to an envy, which doesn't negate the blatant lies embodied by these pictures and will be brutally obvious to anyone looking at the two pics side by side.

Quick test everybody! Which laptop IS WHICH?!? Ahhh the questions, they BURN!

WAIT WAIT, shut the lid just enough to obscure the keyboard, it's a dead giveaway! Oh, and get the jolly green giant's stapler, nobody will notice!

First of all guys just calm down. If its not the final design of the M11X then my bad. My source is my family so there are no tricks or jokes being played. This IS what Dell sent them as the M11X I promise. It may not be the same design as what the final product will look like, but I assure you, the specs are that of the M11X. All demo information provided this far is accurate, and please just wait until Monday to get your panties bunched.

Raydiddi's dad, let's call him Raydaddy, sent me an letter of the alleged dell conversation in which they sent him a prototype. Well basically, I found the problem. Dell thought he meant an m17x because he forgot to put that horizontal line at the bottom of the 1 when writing a snail mail letter to dell hq politely asking to try their new products.

Crisis averted everyone, it was just a simple case of a missing line! Rejoice, for Raydiddi was not just trying to fool us, oh... I mean...his "source". ;)

Anyone know if I had a extra P8600 would it be possible to stick it in m11x? I know the TDP of P8600 will be way higher than the SU7300 but are they physically the same socket? Thanks

At this point guys he doesn't have any reason to lie. He would have sulked off into the corner I think. I for one hope they have enhanced the touch-pad and the front grills a bit to make them a little more aggressive and such, and I like the idea of the touch-pad having the border lit up. If thats the case, then cool beans. That is a huge stapler though. I'll be ready for "ooohs" or "loools" come Monday though ;-)

A little bit of me expects some sort of "Oh man another cancellation" or "Dell made my source send it back" type of excuse though, prove me wrong please! :)

hey I'll be just as happy if i like some possible new design. I just find it amusing is all. I do feel kinda sheepish though, I mean he does have completely unrelated computers and a camera to take their picture, clearly the logical result is that must have been an m11x. :-/

No, different socket I'm afraid. P8600 is 1.5 times the size of a SU7300. The fastest CPU (as far as I can see) that will physically fit in the same socket as the SU7300 (BGA956) is the 25W 2.53GHz SP9600.

So theoretically the most maxxed out processor we can get is the SP9600 but that's probably impractical judging from the 25W TDP rite?

That's right. It's a big increase. 150% more TDP required from the CPU's cooling system. The ULV i7 CPU's require 80% more TDP but you have to remember that the i7 chipset requires 1/10th the TDP of a C2D chipset, so that's why it works out roughly the same, and why they'll probably be used eventually.

I guess you could use it in a fridge if you really wanted! :D

So more from the CPU but less from the chipset, ergo roughly the same TDP...
Or in the north pole for that matter, doesn't matter if it melts, everyone would blame global warming anyway. Playing Crysis at work now, hope to do it with the m11x in two weeks.

I'd say the 335m and the HD4650 should be in the same league. the HD4650m is a slower version of the HD4650 and the 335m is generally listed at a higher performance than the HD4650m. sorry cant give specifics since the benchmarks for the 335m arn't out yet

Eh I believe Raydiddi, now I dunno why that AW comp posted looks funny, but he's posted a pic before of it in box as well. Whether or not that picture is an M11x doesn't really matter to me. What does matter is that it can run Crysis Mediums which sounds good to me! Woke up this morning to see multiple pages of conversation, thanks for giving me something to read! Only a couple more days before I blow my cash on this sucker.

Want to compare it to the desktop version, cause brothers want to know how much difference in performance there is between the family desktop and the m11x. They're gonna inherit the laptop if I get a new one.

@azn = Count me in. I'ma gonna blow it all. Maxxed specs.
