And that's another weird thing about it. At CES (I think) it said that the u30jc was suppose to have a backlit keyboard but not the ul30jt.

And on another note... I hope the order page still comes up tonight here in the states. I really want to see the final specs and all NOW!!!

Wouldn't it make the most sense for Dell to open up the order page and let people start customizing one before the actual launch? If it's set to launch on the 5th, wouldn't it make sense to give them an idea of how big demand will be?

(trying to rationalize this because I want the damn configurator up so I can play lol)

I thought it was funny how the translate page says the white model will attract a female friend. LOL :p

I doubt it will be Japanese only. Laptop Mag confirmed in their hands-on review that the M11X will also be in white.

I've got a feeling that the white might be a 'special edition' color, kind of like the Nebula Red. Which means we'll have to pay more for it :p Too bad, really, because I actually like it quite a bit, so hopefully it's not too expensive an upgrade. Otherwise, I'll have to go with the gray.

I'm sure that both Alienware realize just how HUGE of an opportunity this is for them, so they'd be smart to stick to their word when it comes to pricing and options.

Oh, and on another note, the presentation on the Japanese site has a slide with a rather satisfying list of games that the M11x will supposedly run at 30 fps. If that's actually true, then I'm definitely getting one; if it has enough power to run all of those then it'll be more than enough for what I need.

Actually thanks for reminding me about that. I saw WoW is on the list but I'm wondering - if that's a 'constant' 30 fps (e.g. Dalaran?),what about if you're doing say... a 25man raid?

    Precisely.

Once I spotted GTAIV on that list, I knew this would be an easy decision to make.

Although, I'll be very curious as to what settings must be used to achieve 30fps.

Yeah, there's a few surprises on that list, like GTA IV and Dirt (hopefully Dirt 2 and Mass Effect 2 will work), but if all it takes is turning some of the settings down will do the trick then I'm officially impressed. Can't wait to get one of these and finally be able to bring my laptop to school without having to book an appointment with my chiropractor afterwards.

I am a heavy MAME user. The 4100 is too slow, but the 7300 is OK for most games. Still, games like DOA, Soul Calibur, NFL Blitz and Cruisn USA are slow on the 7300 compared to other options. Shame they could not put an i3 330 in these. Surprisingly, all four of those games play smooth with sound on the i3. Would also help the FPS with COD4 and other games.

At least the 7300 works pretty good with the DC emulator.

BTW, is the performance being stated based on the $800 option or the higher $ ones, since even with a good GPU, a 4100 seems to be pushing it for games like Crysis? Not seeing 50fps unless a lot of things turned off / dialed down and not in native res of the M11's display. GPU can be great, but the CPU still needs to do the physics, AI, sound placement, collisions, etc.

4100 seems too good to be true for such performance. My guess is $1,000 level for the performance they are touting and a 7300 cpu. The 2gb even seems too low.

Not that I put much stock in Windows scoring system but my 1201n scores a 3.2 and is less than 500 bucks. So... does anyone here think that the 3.2 score from the pic is with the integrated graphics vs. discrete?

From what I understand, there is no ulv model for the i3 and thus would probably run too hot for the m11x with the 335m gpu. I think the su7300 can be overclocked though. At least if not officially, people here will try and probably post how they did it. That might help.

Possible... since I can't read anything else on that screen.

Could it also be due to the cpu?

That's just showing the loest score. Which that is I'm unsure. What on the 1201n has 3.2? If we got to see the others I'm sure memory and graphics are upper 5 prob 6.x and hdd 5.9 7200 rpm so can't really compare one score with 1201n

I just noticed that above the score it reads Alienware PHTM... i.e. Intel Phantom graphics?

EDIT: THE CPU on the 1201n is the weak link at 3.2 but it is an ATOM 330 Dual Core... I would hope AW would put something better than that in there!

I bet it's the CPU that gets that score, as it's the lowest number that WIE uses... I'm sure the GPU scores would be quite a bit higher.

Actually I think the original name the m11x was the phantom or something like that based on a blog post at dell that goes over the history of the m11x. It should be the model name. If you look at your system properties the order of system properties are manufacturer, model, rating, processor, memory, system type.

So it should be the model. I think.

I agree with this but my concern is that the SU7300 isn't really going to out perform the ATOM 330. Any thoughts on this?

Here's a comparison from the intel site. I don't know if it helps. I'm not sure what it all means but su7300 has more cache (3mb) and a faster system bus (800 mhz).

I got a brand new MBP coming in for about 1k(retails for 1199) since I had a connection sell it to me at cost. Thinking of using that for month and then once I see the gaming / battery life reviews and if they are positive sell the MBP for a small profit and pick this up.
