hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one at the end of march. This will be a great replacement my toshi p25. Its around 6 years old and with battery and brick (120W) it weighs close to 16 pounds. My back will scream in joy for once and not in pain when I decide to carry a "gaming" laptop with me.

Well Im interested to see what the M11x will have for sure cuz I want one with a Core i5 or i7.
For my wife I just bought a Sony CW series laptop. Its a 14 inch, Core i5-520m, Nvidia 330m, 500gb hd, 4gb ram, and bluetooth for only $899.99. -
I third the game choice and second that on the thread dying soon
-
You guys seriously need to stop talking about the M11x selling out because if I don't get my hands on this thing the first week it comes out I'm killing somebody.
i5 = WoW questions answered and = buy. -
I hope that Dell reads these threads. I'll add my name to the list of someone who will buy if it contains an i5 vs a ULV. I personally have almost never needed more than 2 hours worth of battery life, so I don't mind an increased power drain from an i5... I'd even pay $100 more for it.
-
You can add me to the list of 'likely' people provided they don't mark it up to above £600 in the UK. -

for the most part I will keep games on this simple I think
WarCraft 3, StarCraft, Halo 2, maybe Unreal Tournament 3
I will still want to play all my big titles on my bigger and badder M17x -
Lord of the Rings Online mainly then some Sims3, Spore, Supreme Comander, Civ 4, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Star Wars Force Unleashed. I'll prolly throw Crysis on there just to show off
-
yeah add me to that list too.

And I'm third on this thread will die soon. -
if i only could find on the chinese dell site the online chatt button. i would show them the page where it says i5 for m11x and ask them if this could be real...
would try it with google translator :-D from english in to chinese... hmm
would be cool -
-
If the M11X can play TOR, I will be happy!
-
quick question, if the 13 in macbook drops with a 5830 for 1199 would you guys get that instead?
-
with i5, probably, I'm a Mac fan and had one but sold it. I'd get that over the M11x if it really had a 5830 and i5

The M11x has special appeal to me since it will match my M17x lol (ya I am a loser...)

-
And it is published (by EA) if you dont actually mean release date -

In a year I will be buying a whole new laptop, to add to my m11x and m15x.
-
I'm curious, anybody planning to use the M11x as your MAIN or ONLY computer? If I get the M11x, that will be the case for me - well my GF has a MacBook that I could use if I needed DVD ISO's or burning etc. Also opinions on why this would be a bad idea? Most people I've seen have an M17x or desktops and want to use the M11x as a real portable option.
-
However you are getting a good Core 2 duo processor or even core i5/i7 so you should be fine, in the event you get tired of the small screen you can always plug in a secondary monitor
So yeah, go for it... -
I thought about, and am still somewhat considering, getting a larger, desktop replacement laptop since it will be my main computer. But I enjoy the portability of the 12" laptop I'm replacing, and my budget is a bit tight.
While it's not as powerful as larger notebooks, the M11x is still a formidable machine. If I had the cash, I'd be doing a desktop build along with it. Since I don't, I'll settle for slightly less power and much more portability. As andrewe1 said, the M11x is nothing to sneeze at.
Of course, I'm someone running a single-core desktop with 1gb ram. You have a new Sager notebook with a very fast processor and graphics chip. It's a lot easier to decide that less powerful hardware is good enough when it's still far more powerful than what you have now. I'd be pretty hesitant to go from a 2.8GHz core 2 and gtx 260m to a 1.3Ghz and 335m, but if portability is important then you'll have to decide.
You probably don't need the extra power of the Sager, the question is, will you miss it once you don't have it? Again, for me this is easy because I don't have that kind of power to begin with; I'll probably be blown away by the M11x's performance.
-
You stay home? 2560x1200 res power house desktop-> nothing beat that.
You move all the time and play plugged? M17x -> nothing beat that.
You move all the time and want to play unplugged? M11x -> nothing beat that.
They don't compete, they are complementary puppies. -

I like the idea of laying myself on a couch, with an M11x on my lap, playing around with games, voice chat and stuff and then falling into sleep without worrying about it. If I ever want to do the same things with my M17x I will definitely need complete care -

I should get a power house desktop as well as an M11x so I can have the best of both worlds.
-
thinking of getting the m11x for portable solutions mostly for school purposes..
While the Asus G73JH will be my main plugged lappy -
my plans are to keep the M15x home for a desktop replacement and getting the small powerhouse for travelling, which i do quite often.
i also do training and teaching stuff, so the crowd will be impressed if the "teacher" shows up with an M11x
wouldn´t the college guys here freak out, if their teacher shows up with an AW+freakin light effects to do a powerpoint presentation!?
-
Well I've relegated my Area-51 m5500 to being my 'deployment laptop' whenever the HI Air Guard activates me. My main computer is the Dell Studio XPS 16, and the m11x will fill in nicely as my 'go-about-town' computer.
-
These specs are so awesome, the little thing will be replacing my 2 desktops, the graphic cards weren't that good anyway. And the processor power well, one has 1,8 ghz(intel, 1 gb ram) and the other 2,4 ghz (AMD, 1gb ram)
The desktops will be set up as servers, so the will be the slaves of my new m11x. The 2 laptops that I use, well it should be "the 2 laptops that I used", will go back to their maker.
I'm also interested in how it will run Ubuntu.
Don't know about this thread dying, just signed up, also read all the 70 something pages on the previous post. -
2-2.5 hours is what they keep saying we'll get for in-game battery life, I'd be willing to bet that 2 hours is best-case scenario.
-
.
-
I'd rather use index cards and a #2 pencil. -
I'm not sure if I'll miss my Sager since I've only had it for a month haha and before that I had a Dell S-XPS 1640 for about 3 months and before that a 13" MacBook. I may miss having a larger, higher res screen, but as far as graphics, I don't use AA ever. I've never used anything as small as a 11.6" screen, but gaming has been big for me the past few months, hence why I got this Sager.
Now seeing I can game AND get portability + battery life, I was excited. Not to mention I've started up an MCAT prep course so being able to easily take an M11x to and from libraries, coffee shops and the nearby campus helps. I certainly wouldn't be getting an 11" computer if it could play no current games, since gaming is still important to me. Ultimately it will be my decision (I'm leaning toward the M11x) but seeing different opinions and reasoning help me understand what it is I may be getting into. -
MCAT..I remember that. Prep courses are useless, study on your own and save the money. I recently took the USMLE Step 1, talk about a brutal test. Keep your Sager, 11.6" is too small for any kind of gaming IMO.
-
February is almost here. M11x here I come!

Anyways new question for Alieware contest is:
Would you expect over 6 hours of battery life from an Alienware high performance gaming system?
Answer:
Yes!
Of course you would. Only Alienware can provide you an 11" gaming system that can switch from integrated graphics to discrete with the touch of a button enabling the Alienware M11x to claim 6.5 hours of battery life for everyday use and 2.5 hours while playing games! -
as long as they dont fall asleep, because of the funky light effects
the only thing i worry is, how to get it bypassed my IT folks in the officethink i need a strong chain...
those freaks try to examine everything
-
Honestly, I am unbelieve that AW/DELL will have i3 or i5 to runs M11x in next year. M11x follow up the Macbook which runs C2D specs. M11x will upgrade i3 or i5 in 2012/2013.
-
Sure the 11.6 inch is small but to me its perfect. I have a 12.1 inch 1400x1050 toshiba m400 tablet and I have used it for gaming on a daily to weekly basis. I find it to be the perfect resolution. So for the m11x I do not think that the 11.6 inch with 1366X768 is too small and if I do, my office has a 30" apple display =D. If that doesn't work, I can always get a vidock solution assuming this has an express card.
