Quite interesting discounts (until today, 22nd Nov, at least). I really hope they will continue with them until Christmas...
But now, if you search on Ebay and Dell, you'll find better deals on Dell... So, a new one is cheaper than an used one... (M17x and M18x at least)
Since there are no deals for M18x yet (besides the 15% coupon) I am curious if I could get some discount if I am placing the order over the phone...
-
-
Dea,
The rep has said that he can offer good discount on M18x and M17x R3. But M14x and M11x, his hands are tied as the web deals are so good at the moment!
Get up to 10 post and PM one of us! we'll pass your details to him! if you dont ask, you dont get! -
alright, alright... I will definitely do that. I've seen your posts and like I said, thank you for sharing (actually, also for the others who have contributed)!
Now, since we are on this topic, what is the difference between these 2 models: n00w7v03 and n00w7v01 (source here). Except that the second one is cheaper, and config seems to be the same... -
Well, they are:
n00w7v01
17" 1600x900
2.0ghz i7 - not sure if this is still available!
4Gb DDR3 RAM
320Gb HDD
AMD HD6870M
n00w7v03
17" 1600 x 900
2.2ghz i7
4gb DDR3 RAM
320 Gb Hdd
Nvidia GTX 460M 1.5Gb GPU
or the alienware christmas deal is:
n00w7v04
17" 1920x1200 120Hz w/3d
2.2ghz i7
4Gb DDR3 RAM
320Gb HDD
nvidia GTX560M 1.5Gb GPU
Killer N wireless
Hope that helps! -
Thanks!
Any news on what kind of deals will come next, since this 15% off expires today?... -
15% ends tomorrow. so fingers crossed another can be found! If not, the rep is good at getting the price down to a similar level, but you'd miss out on the 10% topcashback.
-
There are (at least) 3 ways I can get to Dell.co.uk directly to "configurator", for an M17x. I was wondering which one brings best deal (asking for an opinion).
1. "Christmas deal" (you have already shared the link)
- i7 2670QM (2.2 GHz) | GTX560M | 4GB RAM | Killer Wireless
- GBP 1389 (by the way, is it the "final" price)
- no cashback ?!
2. Dell deals - Gaming deals
- i7 2760QM (2.4 GHz) | GTX560M | 4GB RAM | Dell Wireless (default)
- GBP 1349
- no cashback ?!
3. Or... I could go to TopCashBack and start the configuration from that link they provide?
And after I have created my configuration and placed in my cart, I will give Dell a call and make the purchase by phone and hopefully the guy you know will give some discount. Correct? -
just sent you a PM. but for the rest of you:
register at Dell CashBack: Free Maximum CashBack 10.1% - 10.1% cashback - ensure you have cookies enabled and go to the dell website through them.
Alienware Christmas Specials | Dell UK - use the codes below to keep the cookie tracking!! just click on the search button on the site.
Use 15% discount voucher - D6ZDL452WV2Z09
M11x - n00w1v06 £894 turns into £566 after cashback
M14x - n00w1405 £1363 turns into £917 after cashback
M17x - n00w7v04 £1544 turns into £1072 after cashback
Valid until tonight. fingers crossed another code appears tomorrow. -
dmxdimension.com dmxdimension.com dmxdimension.com.....
I've mentioned this website so many times but noone seems to visit it or acknowledge it (i have no link to them other than being a fan due to their site having both the model descriptions, evalue codes and Dell voucher codes all in one place!)
The evalue models are similiar if not the same to the Eurogamer models but are easier to compare. Again, no need to link to Dell from dmxdimension.com, only link from Quidco or Topcashback then search within dells site for the appropriate e value coded system, configure, then add dells discount coupon for the best available discount!! -
-
I have just finished the conversation with the sales rep.
He wasn't able to offer more than an upgrade of the HDD (120GBP worth) from 320GB to 500GB. Unfortunately this means also disregarding the cashback. And since the HDD upgrade doesn't interest me (it the least important in my choice)... I have turned him down. I will most likely do the purchase online, or go for a Clevo.
By the way, evilras, the TopCashBack offer is 15%... quite nice, and I think it's more than 90GBP... even if it will come later.
- D6ZDL452WV2Z09 - 15% off
- V21B$RT5XP4CWF - free shipping
And these codes you can get also from other websites.
The links next to the 4 models of M17x do not offer anything more, or do they? -
Check the specs closely, they offer better base systems for a price than if you were to configure them from scratch on the dell website. Some of the deals are the same as the "Eurogamer" deals.
Combined with the quidco/topcashback offers you can get great deals. Just remember that you have to link from the cashback sites first then search for the evalue code model you want on the dell website using the dell search. -
I am looking forward to that... I am clicks away.. just want to make sure I am taking the best decision. I don't want to find out tomorrow that I have missed something.
Man, the whole "chase" is fun... and then I have to wait for 3 more weeks (ever) to get it. -
However, the N00W7V05 configured the same, it is 15 GBP less, but it doesn't allow me to downgrade from 6GB RAM and 750GB HDD. Which I do not want to pay for.
I am not decided though on the CPU, if it is worth to pay the difference for the 2760QM (160GBP upgrade from 2670QM) -
-
Ok, I made the deal. Couldn't wait no more.
I had also a surpirze, after planning and planning I found out that I can not use TopCashBack nor Quidco since I am not an UK resident. And it is a big deal, I was counting on 100-200 GBP back.
I have initially turned the offer from Dell agent down... Luckily I was able to hold on the offer before the 15% discount voucher expires today at 23:59. I have received earlier the quote over email. I have contacted an agent on chat and closed the deal (at least this is what the guy told me, I still don't have anything official from Dell).
What I was able to obtain:
Initial price: £2,033.99
Final price: £1,469.65
__________________
Discount: £565.
I have searched on ebay and couldn't find a better deal.
So... bye, bye Asus ROG, welcome Alienware!!!
PS: I got my GTX580M and 3D screenhourai

Later edit: I have just received an email from Dell. A coupon with 10% discount valid until 31.01(8VL8JKMC??P507). This might replace the 15% discount coupon. Damn I was lucky to benefit of the old coupon. -
i hope our guy was able to sort the deal! Poor guy works hard to work on the discount! But well done, that machine sounds like a beast!! And 25% off cant be sniffed at! great stuff!

It is a very decent deal.
But this guy did not offer me any discount. He has given me the 500GB HDD, which, by the way, is the hybrid one? I don't even know. Everything happened so fast.
______________
later edit: just talked to a guy on chat, since there was nothing coming from my sales guy. He says: "I am so sorry there is no order reflecting". Is this a bad sign? -
Stevie, yes its the same guy you referred. ironically i already know him well as iliais with him for our business quite a bit! so happily chatting to him about the state of sales at the mo. he is tied by the topcashback money, as he cant match it on any machine. But did state that the best discount can be found on:
Precision Mobile Workstations/ Desktops,
Latitude Laptops
a lot on OptiPlex machines.
christi, i've asked him to nudge you back and see if he can chuck something else in! Good luck! it looks like a beast of a machine!
Edit: Just spoke to is manager, he's due in shortly. His daughter wasnt well today, so he's coming in late. -
Now, my purchase becomes more of a story. Listen.
So, few minutes ago I got a call from another sales rep(#2). He said he is going to be my *contact* and he will do the sale. I have told him that I feel more comfortable speaking with the person I have talked initially(#1), and the one who gave me the quote. But there was no way, he insisted that #1 is not available right now, and he is his backup.
Then, I figured... they WANT to make the sale (pretty fast since they are not willing to wait for #1), and then said that I wanted to ask #1 to throw in a mouse and a backpack, but never got the chance since he didn't call back.
Guess what he said... "so which mouse and which backpack" .
After 30 mins he called back saying that he can only give me the mouse discounted to 44GBP (65 normal price). The backpack I refused since I can get a better deal from some place else.
And again he said he is very surprised how I was able to get that price!
Me? haaaapppyy!
Now, let's talk RAM, SSD and second GTX580M, because I want to have the SLI configuration eventually.Where is the best place to get these from?
-
NEW 15% voucher code!

Valid until 30th November! PLUS 15% cashback on alienware at topcashback.co.uk.
And get the latest e-value codes from dmxdimesion.com!!
The time to buy an alienware online is now! -
@dea.cristi if you gettin m17x r3, there is no space for 2nd graphics card, its impossible to have 2 graphics in that laptop. you will have to get m18x to be able to put 2x gtx 580m inside.
SSD you can get very good M4 ones from crucial.com here in the uk.
BTW: what price did you managed to get it down to in the end? i got similar config but with amd 6990m and it was £1200 inc VAT when using dmxdimension code, 15% off and 15% topcashback. -
@lovethai
didn't know about the SLI in R3...
£1514 was in total.
- 2670QM
- 4GB RAM 1333MHz
- GTX 580M
- 500GB HDD 7200rpm
- Killer Wireless
- 3D screen
- Logitech Performance Mouse MX
Unfortunately I wasn't able to benefit of cashback. Not UK resident. -
I believe the m17x r2 can do SLI.

just realized that there is no option for crossfire 6990m with the m18x anymore. only nvidia graphics cards are available: 560m, 560m sli or 580m sli. 6990m x2 were the affordable option, 580m sli cost over 1000£ extra as upgrade. i heard in usa the price for this upgrade already went down, here in uk its still ultra expensive.
called the selling support and been told that 6990m are out of stock for m18x, but they are still available for m17x as single card. -
I have been looking now for some RAM. I want to buy 8GB DDR3 1333MHz in 2 DIMMs. I will have 4GB (2x2) by default, same speed.
Is it important on which of the 4 slots these 4GB DIMMs will be mounted? What I mean is, Slot1&2 should have the 4GB modules installed and Slot3&4 2GB modules installed?
And since I will have pairs, they will work in dual-channel mode, right? -

darn! wasen't accepted for finance!
I had finance accepted from them last month, had to cancel it because the 15% discount didn't go through, think it went past 12:00 and that's when it expired to a new code. They said they would still accept the code I put in because they would apparently lost the cashback.
Only difference this time is I have done this
used topcash back (15.15%) instead of quidco (10%)
Dual 280M instead of ATI Crossfire (Not on upgrade list currently)
Used buy now, pay back Dec 2012 (didn't have this offer last time, only pay monthly for two years)
///////////////////////////////////////
Haven't has any problems paying bills or got bad credit since the last month I applied
Would it be done to that I used, buy now pay back Dec 2012 instead of Pay Monthly fot two years? or generally the extra dosh for the Dual SLI 280M's? -
@pritchardavid
im trying to get a good spec of 18x for myself aswell and the 6990 out of stock are making it much harder. i tried to persuade them to supply the 580 for the price of 6990 but no luck
upgrade from base single 560 to sli 580 is 1k, i think if i remember correctly the xfire 6990 was round 400£, so the price might be an issue with the refused credit.
but im starting to think that getting 17x r3 with single 6990 for £1200 and then 2 years later get another 17x (r5?) with possible 8990 is money much better spent than getting m18x with dual graphics cards now for £2500+
what do you guys think? -
£2500 for a laptop is insane.. unless you're a pro gamer or doing HEAVY 3d CAD work, is there a benefit other than bragging rights?
also, if you use evalue code N00W7V05 - £1599 for:
i7 2.40, 6Gb Ram, 750Gb HDD, 2Gb 6990.
Use 9PM1010630WZFT until midnight tomorrow to save £236.85. Brings it down to £1342 to pay.
But then get £168 topcashback tracking if you go through that site first.
And if you're feeling lucky, use my trick to threaten to return and get 10% refund. another £136 to bring total price to £1060.
Not bad for a 17" beast! -
just a heads up, the 6990m xfire is now available again for ordering with the m18x, its £450 extra if you upgrade from base 560m. 580m sli is still £1020 upgrade
@elviras i persuaded myself that what i really want is the m18x for the big screen, i love using my laptop all over the house (bedroom, lounge, kitchen, garden) so plugging it to external monitor for extra screen is not an option for me. my current laptop is 17' with 1900x1200 but even with increased dpi the icons are just too small for me. so i hope the m18x with the extra inch will solve the problem. will see, if i dont like it and its too big and bulky i will keep the 17x instead. -
Hey, dont get me wrong! its your machine, love it as you want! Just saying, £2500 is a huge price for anything these days! and the 18" is literally nailed to its desk! But yes, it would be a stunning SLI/ xfire machine that will shame any other laptop on the planet!
Sadly, theres never any offers on them. But speak to our rep, he should be able to knock some money off! -
Is new voucher day! same as always people,
Get the evalue code of the system you want at dmxdimension.com. make a note
go to topcashback.co.uk, register, and use the dell link to track through for 10.1% cashback.
search for your evalue code and stick it in your basket.
use "PD$$V2H1Q?BTM4" for another 15% off (any system purchase over £599)
Good luck! -

the list price is 1238 GBP but with dell's Christmas offer i get 170 GBP off i also used dmxdimension's code to get 15% off which is 160 GBP aswell as free shipping, bringing down the cost to 908 GBPdelivered.
I was wondering though if i get any freebies thrown in or maybe a small discount if i speak to a rep personally.
Thanks

Hi all, not planning on ordering my m14x until January. Looking through this thread if i were to order it today i could get it for almost £1000 (opposed to ~£1400) but it's unlikely i'll actually be able to order it until January. As i can't send PM's yet i was wondering if the rep in the OP is still active and if i would be able to order though them and potentially save more money? Another question, sorry, would be how often are the vouchers available? As long as i can save a few pounds on my order i'll be happy, doubt i'll save as much as i would if i were to buy it tonight though
Thanks anyway guys (& girls) -
Well, the vouchers have been active weekly since october! But thats no guarantee they will go forward! That said, i'd be suprised if the rep couldnt hit a £1000ish price for my sig spec in jan. esp as there are bound to be jan sale vouchers!
-
Hopefully there will be some options available to me in January! If the rep is able to get it close to £1000 then i'll buy it in an instance. I'm not great with haggling (guess it's a pride thing) but how hard is it to sway them to try and get the price down? If I say i have the money to buy one right away and i'm debating between an Alienware, MSI or Asus (even though i'm most certainly going to get the M14x) would they be likely to lower the price then?
Any tips on how to best haggle them would be much appreciated. I'm assuming though that if i go though a rep i wouldn't be able to use the voucher codes or the Topcashback website?
Thanks again for any help i get. I can't wait to order a gaming laptop. Hauling around my gaming desktop with monitor is getting a bit annoying when i want a few LAN games with friends. The M14x seems to be the perfect solution to my needs! -
Ok, online wise you have to go through topcashback first. Then in that session search for your desired e-value code. then use the 15% discount vouchers. gets the cost down alot. Then if you're feeling lucky like i did, email them just after you receive it and tell them you're worried you didnt get a great deal as other people were being offered free bags. Can they send you a bag, or do you need to send the laptop back into the outlet so you can re-order through a rep to get the bag. With me they offered 10% refund. £106. all for 2 emails. its worth a shot. This is all cheaper than the reps can get you.
Rep wise, the rep should have no problem getting you down to £1000. thats what the offer prices before quidco/topcashback are at the mo. So its a great fall back, and he's a fantastic guy! but even he has said he struggles to beat these online deals at the moment. -
Hey guys, I am new here. I just discovered this thread and am currently having an issue. I just bought an alienware m17x but i think that i may not be eligible for the cashback after reading this thread. I opened the website through the Topcashback website but bought the laptop from another page which was opened from the facebook link. Are there any ways that I can still get my cashback which is about 120 quid??
(
-
Evilras, I can't thank you enough for the advice you've given me. I'm trying not to look at the amount of money i could potentially save as knowing my luck half of the offers won't be available when i decide to purchase. Knowing that the rep is good at getting the price down though, I may go through him if I know i can get it for around the £1000 mark, assuming the other offers aren't on with Topcashback and the various vouchers that float around.
-
RayCPH - Sadly you cant use a retrospective link to sign on to topcashback. you have to use them first, and dell pay them for "referring" you. which they then pass on to you. But all is not lost. you could alway try suggesting you missed out on the best possible deal, and you want to send it back, and they may offer you a 10% refund instead.
iMaster - no problem mate! Everyone should have the opportunity to own an alienware! I just hope Alienware someday clock the sales i promote for them! Rep should be ably to get it into the £1000 mark for you. maybe less if you go for 4Gb RAM. But i'd wager they do some good jan sales vouchers! So expect some decent online offers in 3 weeks! -
Hey evilras, thanks for the reply! How should I do this? through email, phone?? My order just got processed. Thanks for the help!
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ssories-please-contribute-45.html#post8079384
Thats exactly how i did it. 2 emails. done! -
Thanks for the help! I decided to cancel my order and reordered another Alienware because the nvidia GTX 580m got reduced by 200 quid
!!.. Anyway, do you think I should try your method to get an extra 10% refund as I already saved almost 30% ( Christmas Deals+15% off+10% quidco cashback)?? Cant wait for my machine
-
Well i was thinking about getting the same set up as you (maybe just get the 1.5GB GPU) but everything else would've been the same so if i can get that for around £1000 i'd be laughing!
It's funny, if you would've asked me this time last year if i'd buy anything Alienware branded i'd of said absolutely not. Now fast forward a year and seeing my friends M14x in the skin, seeing how easy it is to cary about rather than my desktop and it still gives good results it seems like a no brainer for me to get it (though I can see it turning into a minecraft machine!). What makes me even more surprised is that when I started looking into them, Alienware laptops aren't as overpriced as i was first expecting as other companies laptops seems to be in the same price range, maybe less, but with a lesser build quality and from what i hear Alienwares hold their value very well.
Saving £££ in the UK buying ANY Dell/AW system OR accessories - please contribute!
