    Guys this is bit odd...

I paid via HSBC Debit card. (04/12/11)

Checked the bank and they deducted amount form my account

    System shipped from China 07/12/11

I checked my bank account today and found all the money returned back to the account. I got my invoice from saying no payment required. :eek2:

    Is this normal?

looks good! As i say, 6gb is often an overkill, so i reckon 4gb will do you! the 3gb GT555m is good, tho practically identical to the 1.5gb in terms of performance. but if its there, enjoy it!

    Cracking price too that!

i managed to get nice spec m18x on uk dell outlet last week and it arrived yesterday so had a chance to play with it for a bit. its big! the screen looks much bigger than m17x, the weight is about the same: 4.5kg m17x vs 5.5kg m18x not much difference for me.
performance wise they are same spec apart the m18x got xfire graphics cards so expect about 50% more fps in games.
have to decide this weekend which one to keep and which one to sell. really tough decision.

    m17x R3: Red, 2760, 6990, 6GB, 750GB, 1900x1080, Killer WiFi
    m18x: Black, 2760, 2x 6970, 6GB, 320GB, 1900x1080, Killer WiFi

just found out that when running gpu-z my ati 6970 reports as having 1120 shaders and core running at 715mhz.
lol, is it possible i ordered a system with dual 6970 and got dual 6990 instead? im not complaining just shocked how could this happen, dell's quality control is famous for beying extremely accurate right?

The 6970m has 960 shaders and runs at 680MHz.

Looks like you have the 6990m ;) If I were you I would run some benchmarks just to be extra sure and compare with others that have the 6990m. If you get similar results your laughing

gpu-z shows both cards with 1120 unified shaders and on delivery note they described as blackcomb xtx which is 6990 if im not mistaken.
when i checked my service tag online i also found out that my system was originally sold in france and that there is 3 years accidental damage protection on it aswell, not sure if it applies to me, as i bought it refurbished and should be only 1 year warranty.

Ok so called Alienware technical support today and enquired about my service tag. They fixed the warranty info, now only 12 months next day but they couldnt tell me much about what graphics cards are inside my m18x. im pretty sure now that they are 6990: the 3d mark 11 score of 6400 at 715/900 speeds would be a bit too much for 6970 i think.

They are 6990's without a shadow of a doubt. Clock speeds and shaders are that of Blackcomb XTX, which is 6990m. ;)

Those are definitely 6990s. I've read that a few outlet m18x's people have bought in the UK have come with 6990s when they're listed as having 6970s.

Just put a deal on the save ££££ thread! The discounts are usually a dell e-value code with applied discount, a 15% voucher, then topcashback 10.1% cashback! that gets you very very close to your 40%!

do i put the 3 code into the normal dell search as that just brings up the 1399 deal which is just the laptop without the hardrive. or do i find the e value code thing on dell and put it in there ?

With the 15% discount and 10% cashback via quidco I got a better deal than the rep (and one of his colleagues) offered me on the laptop in my sig. Best of luck with your system though as the discount he offers can vary with spec.

ok, to re-iterate to the new people!

Look on dmxdimension.com for the best deals. but DONT click through. just take the e-value code. then register on topcashback.com. Currently 10.1% cashback for alienware. click through on the link from there, to dell. Then in the search bar at dells website, search for your chosen e-value code. Thats half the job done!

Build your desired system, and add to basket. Then add:

    J3$N26XFR2C32K - free postage

    VF55NVR605K5M7 - save 15%

both vouchers valid until 4th jan!

    Enjoy the uber discount!

for reference, the rep can get you down to the same price, but he cant match the topcashback 10.1% cashback! which is like another £100 off your system!

Typical a good voucher comes along and expires a day before I'm able to make a purchase :( looks like I'll have to go through the rep anyway. I'm hoping to get an M14x at around £1000 with the base i7, 4GB Ram, killer Wireless, Bluetooth and the upgraded screen. Hopefully the rep would be able to do that

m17x with gtx580 and fullHD screen upgrade is possible to get around £1200 after all discounts (15% off, topcashback, free delivery). that would come with the base i7 processor, 500gb HDD and 4GB ram.

m14x with 3GB GT555, 1600x900 screen and i7 processor is around £900 after all discounts.

there are deals on the m18x aswell, but with the gtx580 sli upgrade it comes to £2000 after discounts, which is still a lot considering you are paying £800 more over the m17x for the extra graphics card, bigger screen and metal chassis.

Yeah but the discounts expire on the 4th and I can't pay for it until the 5/6th. I believe this is a perfect example of sods law. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and deal with whatever price they decide to offer me

imaster - message me your e-mail address, desired specs, and preferably a phone number for the rep. He can always match that 15% off voucher. the only thing he cant match is the 10.1% cashback from topcashback.

That said, the dell 15% vouchers have been rolling on week by week since october! So who knows, might be another made shortly!

    @karans94
as far as i know those two 15% vouchers never worked together. i tried them myself on the day when the original poster posted them and i got only one working.
what you need to realize is that 15% off on alienware is an amazing offer, as far as i know this is first time when you can get such a big voucher on alienware here in the UK. put it together with the quidco/topcashback and you are on 25% off and that is fantastic deal.

how interesting! dmxdimension.com have updated and there's some cheaper e-value models on there! remember to grab your evalue code from there, BEFORE going to topcashback to click through on the dell link for 10.1% cashback.

then use codes Z04P3LHZCHMVBG (15% valid til 11th jan) and ?K6K25KG9Q$32N (free delivery valid til 11th jan), to snag a cracking deal!

    N00W7V01 - M17x 2.20ghz i7, 4gb ram, 1600 x 900 WLED, 500Gb HDD, 1.5gb GT555M - from £1299 down to £994 after discounts.

    N00W1403 - M14x 2.20ghz i7, 4gb ram, 1600 x 900 WLED, 750gb HDD, 3Gb GT555M - from £1304 down to £877 after discounts.

Haha! i think we need to create a sticky with this info!

    1) visit Dell Special Offers, Cheapest Deals, E-Value Codes and Discount Coupons | dmXdimension in the first instance! click on the system you want and check out the specs with their "e-value" code next to them. you can click through to dell from here. HOWEVER you miss out on a cashback opportunity! So simply make a note of the e-value code.

    2) register on quidco or topcashback. I favour topcashback, as they currently offer 10.1% cashback on alienware! Now you see why we didnt click through dmxdimension! so, go to the dell page there, and click on the alienware link to take you through to dell

    3) click on the search box on the top right hand corner of the dell page and search for the e-value code. that should load a result where you can be taken to that computer. This keeps the tracking cookie working from topcashback!

    4) Edit your spec as you see fit, and add to basket! (i can highly recommend Nebula Red as a cheeky £10 upgrade!)

    5) enter any applicable codes for discounts. Currently you can use Z04P3LHZCHMVBG (15% valid til 11th jan) and ?K6K25KG9Q$32N (free delivery valid til 11th jan).

    6) pay the man!!

    7) dont worry if cashback isnt tracking. mine didnt track until AFTER i received the laptop!

Just to reiterate, this means you get the discounted e-value price, AND the 15% discount, AND the free delivery, AND the 10.1% cashback!

If there are no offers, Drop me a PM with your email address and phone number, and what computer you're after. And i'll nudge the friendly rep for you! he usually calls back same day! He cant match that 10.1% cashback, no chance! but he often can honour the 15% discount even after the vouchers have expired. Or if you want to take over credit!

Thanks a lot evil I thought it was to simple but now I see that going through the topcashback creates a cookie, that can track the purchase.

I have an email quote from dell but in order to maxmimise my discount such as getting the 10.1% from topcashback i need to order it online does anyone know how i can do this. the reason i got the email quote is online currently is giving me the wrong price and i had to get confirmation of what the correct price is.

they do not wants me to be able to order it online as it will get me eventually through topcashback an aditional 10.1% off.

    thanks James
