These coupons are always coming and going, I'm sure another one will come along soon after you arrive from your holiday.

Wasn't the last 10% coupon (before the one I linked last week) in January along with all the christmas deals though? Delivery dates aren't an issue anymore, someone will be here and I can change my order to be delivered when I return if necessary.

If I ordered tomorrow online I would get these specs -

English Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
    Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 2670QM (2.20Ghz, 6MB, 4C)
    1.5GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT555M
    Alienware M14x : 1.5 Base Black
    6144MB (1x2GB + 1x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
750GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
14.0" (36 cm) Widescreen High Definition + (1600x900) WLED with TrueLife
    8X DVD+/-RW Drive including software
    Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 - EUR
    Primary 8-cell 63W/HR LI-ION
    No Antivirus Software
1 year Next Business Day hardware Support included with your PC
    No Accidental Damage Protection
    Alienware M14x Black WLAN
    (etc.)

for ~£950 taking topcashback and 10% coupon into account. (note the system is reduced by £170 already from dmxdimension, and I think £170 reduced from £1219 is also quite a lot so don't want to pass off that reduction)

I'm just curious whether you think this price is good enough to not hear from a rep at all. The 10% off coupons can come few and far between, I'd say the most recent ones are the first ones in about a month or so?

Cheers for the input, trying to make a decision ASAP. :)

    700? That's like close to 40% off...?

The system on dell's website with zero reductions totals to about £1300, I very much doubt people got those specs for £700, even at christmas. Is £950 not a good deal for the specs I listed?

yeh man people got those specs for like 700 ask evilras 950 seems kinda much but the extra ram is nice and yeh just after xmas the discount with everything together and the excess stock prices dell had was about 35% off i sadly cudnt buy mine there but still got a wicked deal on outlet. tbh man id check with a rep before i bought that for 950 as its nice but any aditional discount will be better

Yeah, my spec is a tad higher with the 3Gb GT555M in it. But i paid dell £1030. It was the cashbacks, discounts, and refunds that brought it in at £750. And its very important to add that i was VERY lucky! cashback tracked wrong, and they manually adjusted it too high. I asked for a bag and they gave me 10% refund, others havent had this!

How did you get 950? I calculated 1150 with the 10% discount + dmxdimension (the first offer) + the 10% coupon.

Hmmm...I selected the 2nd dmxdimension offer (£1049 down from £1219) and upgraded screen res and wireless to Killer. Then added 10% coupon and got £1009. 5.05% cashback then should amount to about £55 so it'll be around £950.

Just ordered mine after lots of deliberation, glad I have now. Personally I'd rather get the laptop sooner than hold out and maybe save £50-100. Because I could be waiting for a while to get reductions that save me more.

Hope you figure out what you decide to do!

Looking forward to getting my M14x after I get back from my skiing holiday. Woop! :)

Guys - I am sorry that you have not been contacted sufficiently by Dell - as I have said to a few of you, my actual rep is off at the moment and his colleagues will be covering his workload. To that avail, their level of urgency is obviously not what we would be expecting and it has left several of you "dangling"

Again, slightly beyond my control....you all know how this works with the Dell rep by now....I'm just sorry that you havent been dealt as well as you would have been by dealing with my actual rep directly.

For those of you who have used the coupon before expiry, congrats and enjoy your new purchases....for those that are still "waiting", my guy should be back in the office come 5th March.....hopefully normal service will be resumed from then on....

    Where did you find that?

When I go to dmxdimension and click M17x, all I see are 3 offers, £1299, £1499 and £1399.

Am I using the wrong website?

Was ready to order and entered all the coupon codes. About to confirm payment, realised it was smack right at 12 midnight and the code is no longer valid. Bummer... :(
I was thinking what a coincidence and maybe it wasn't meant to be.

Anyway thought I'd try to see if there are new codes for March. Glad the order didn't go through earlier, the new coupon is even better at 15% off Alienware + additional stacked code 10%. I just saved an extra £91 from the previous quote :D

Now I just have to wait for the credit card to go through.

Ah yeah there is a 15% discount one up now, however when you add a 15% discount to one of the deals on dmxdimension (for M14x at least) with already reduced price, it seems to get rid of the reduced price and just had the 15% coupon instead which is weird as it results in me getting a better price yesterday with a 10% coupon than I could have with a 15%.

I am waiting for the swap. I have at home the R3 with GTX580M, 3D screen, but I want to go for the M18x. It's more expensive, but I would have SLI 580M...
If there is anyone interested in the new one I am about the receive for swap (in original box, new, I will not open the box), PM me. I will give it for better price than dell.co.uk + any coupons.

The 15% discount code is ?FXWC6LKB?$S0M
The 10% discount code is 0J3TG67RN$GD16

They are stackable for 25% off, though they are not stackable with e value codes.

The best overall value seems to be 12% off GCZHM7HRNKN390
(valid on Shop for EPP members | Dell UK) As if you spend over £1200 you get an additional 8% off aswell. Which is an effective 20% in total, which does stack with e value codes.

    Hope this helps someone out!

(Personally I cant decide if its worth spending £1800 on the m18x for dual amd 6990m crossfire, I7 2.4ghz, 8gb ram or just take m17x with the same spec other than a single 6990m for £1350, any input appreciated!)

Find a Laptop, Desktop, Server, Printer, Software, Service or Monitor at Dell. | Dell UK

Enter 305 then the appropriate evalue code from Dmxdimension in the second box. Then build your spec, add to cart then enter GCZHM7HRNKN390 in the discount code.

It still works, just tried it.

The 10% and 15% stack on the m14x, m17x and m18x, not the aurora (though the 15% does work, just not the 10%. Also the 12% off and epp discount work on the m11x too! Since I know the other vouchers do not work on this system.

Cashback is not available if you use epp and the 12% discount code! Though I don't see why cashback wouldn't be available if you stacked the 10 and 15% vouchers. (30% off!)

nope, they didn't offer anything else. I was offered to swap with the Radeon 6990m which I didn't need. I'd preferred Nvidia due to the nature of the software I'll be using. He offered GTX560m which is not too great either. Might cancel it altogether instead.

Previous spec was GTX580m, 4gb Ram, 750gb hd, WideFHD 3D screen+glasses and the rest was just standard.

Wow! - ordered M14x on the 29th and just got an email telling me the planned delivery date is Monday the 5th. Normally I would be happy with such speed but I'm on holiday from the 4th to the 11th! They won't let me change the delivery date as it's already 'out for delivery' so I guess I'll just have to make sure it's all okay on Sunday 11th in the evening when I get back so I don't miss the 7 day refund policy if I don't like the system.

Dell teasing me by delivering the laptop a day after my flight, pft!

Somewhat skeptical about the rep situation, Iv'e been sent a quote which is £244 more expensive with 4gb less ram and a downgraded processor than I could acquire myself. Are the email quotes final? Is it still worth speaking to him on the phone? I imagine reps have some kind of commission or indirect commission by satisfying sale targets? I mean no amount of persuasion is going to make me agree to pay £244 more for a lesser spec through a rep, so ringing him may be completely redundant? But then on the other hand can reps offer a better discount on the phone? Though I cannot comprehend the communication medium being capable of differentiating the quantity of discount available? Surely they have a maximum discount threshold regardless of if I email, phone or even send them a message in a bottle.. Don't understand why they wouldn't offer you their best price in the first place?

I can assure you there is nothing skeptical about my rep. He is a good guy who works for Dell.

If you have been given a cheaper quote elsewhere and he cant beat it - he cant beat it.....its not grounds for him to automatically make it cheaper again for you - the world doesnt operate quite that way, does it?

The reason they often dont give you their best price right away is simple. If you were selling something, you would want to make as much money on it as possible, right? - same thing here, Dell dont have to discount these systems as they sell well without being discounted. The fact you have been offered some discount is good - if you feel you can beat it via other methods, go for that instead .

I don't dispute he works for Dell and he is very polite. I have no problem with him not being able to beat my quote, I completely understand that. My only issue was I told him the price I could get it for, whether he can beat it or not is a question of fact. Why not just say yes or no, rather than send me a quote which is significantly more expensive and still require a conversation.

Well, I imagine he deals with ALOT of people, some may say "I can get that for xxx" as kind of a challenge. Wether or not they can actually get it for the price they say may be a different thing. Some people like dealing/buying direct from Dell even if the price is a bit more, simply for peace of mind.

I imagine he has sent you his best price (or the best price he is willing to discount that spec for) and he will leave you to make your mind up...he/Dell are not under ANY obligation to beat a price that you name - no matter what that price may be. I know that Dell have certain profit margins they need to meet when configuring a system - this would vary for each individual component so it will be different for each buyer. They wont sell a unit simply to sell it as thats not very good business logic is it? - they want to make a minimum set margin from each unit and wont discount below that price.

As I mentioned before, these systems sell without the need to reduce the price Dell charge for them - ask yourself why Dell would drastically reduce their profit margin just to shift a single unit?

I think your veering off at a tangent here, I can completely empathise with business logistics. All I wanted to know was if he could beat my quote, if he could it would be appreciated if he couldn't then I understand. Just wanted a candid response, thats all. Which he has since given me and Im just awaiting further correspondence. I imagine I am not an average customer he deals with, as I can be rather pedantic. This wasn't intended to be a rant or detrimental towards your rep. My original post was to obtain an understanding of how reps operate. I would definitely recommend this rep to anyone looking at potentially buying anything from Dell. Get a quote, afterall what do you have to lose!

No problem. I am sure he has done all he can within his boundaries to try and help, but if you can buy the same specification cheaper elsewhere, fair enough.

When the new system comes out, are there margin for discounts you think?
    Anyone can shine some light?

I imagine yes, some discount will be available - I wouldnt bet on huge £££ as it will have just been launched....still, worth looking into closer to the time.
