Distinct lack of decent discount codes available, would have thought with the m18x r2 and the m17 x r4 looming there would be some good deals to be had..
-
same here. It seems they think differently :| pitty. Still no word on possible release of the new ones..
-
zzzzzzzzzzzz when will they release some decent discount codes.. i have things to buy
-
Time to bump this!
I have gotten word that there are 25% codes sent out to existing customers? Obviously only valid on old systems, anyone have one they won't be using? -
I got an email from Dell today with the voucher code in it, ive just bought a m18x so not going to use it. If you want it gis a shout
Regards,
Dave. -
Still after a discount code, they appear to range from 5-50% ! Though im just looking for one with about 25%
Thanks in advance! -
Wow no idea such codes even existed! Currently I'm also looking to make a purchase but hesitant to pull the trigger with the best discount obtainable being the 10% + 8% EPP route.
If anyone has still got a 20%+ code that they are not planning on using, I'd really appreciate it! -
Unless Numb18 used it i have a 5% that came through the other day.
Regards,
Dave. -

Remember guys, if you want to buy and there are no discount codes available, you can always try my rep. Cant promise HUGE discounts but its still very much worth a go if you dont want to wait for a voucher to "maybe" appear....
I am also working on something to see if we can get some good deals via Dell USA - when I know more, I will post it up here. -
hi numb18, can you shed some light on the code please? did it work? I got similar but with only 5% off :| thx.

So I am looking to order an M14x R2 in the UK. My brother has dealt with Dell a few times via his business and has played the haggle game to get systems a little cheaper than advertised but never with the Alienware part of Dell.
I have read the US thread about haggling with Alienware but was wondering if any one had some advice on how to save money on this system. I am willing to haggle but any voucher codes that I can add on will help too.
Sorry to post again but I am unable to PM stevie as I am new to the foum. Spoke to Dell and they were willing to give 10% discount over the phone and online but would not budge.
Could be because they have limitations as it is a new system but I would like to think this well known Dell seller that people here use can do better. -

Best thing is to PM me when you can and see what he can do for you.

Hi there, I should have found this thread earlier...
The same condition here, or even worse, I am in finland, 0% custom for laptop and 23% VAT if get it outside EU.
dell.fi has no alienware !!! If I buy from UK I have to let my friend ship it to me, and the shipping is also pricey.
Basically either UK or US I need to pay extra shipping fee, any suggestion? want to get a M14x r2 ASAP
I am also considering a mail forwarding service in UK. I found https://www.forward2me.com . it looks nice. Anyone has experience on this company before? Thanks -

nevup,
You may also be interested in BundleBox - I personally havent used their service but it appears you can buy direct from the US and have it shipped to a location of your choice - obviously, for a fee. -
Thanks for sharing information, If i can get some discount in UK, I think it then won't make significant difference compared to buying from US plus VAT...
I spoke to one UK rep today but he says no any discount for the new M14x R2. could you PM me the rep you recommand so I can have another try... thanks. -

That's just the way I have worked it for some time now, and it seems to work well this way.....feel free to PM me to get the ball rolling. Again, I cant promise what level of discount may be offered as that's his job and will fluctuate depending on what system you want and what spec. -
18% discount what do you guys think?

Tried to see if he could do me a reasonably priced SSD i.e. not £600 for a 256Gb. But all he offered was 18% off everything which swallows up the discount everywhere else.
PS: He tried telling me installing the SSD myself would void all the warranties, smells of sales pitch? -

Sure does -
So far I have a 10% discount on an M14Xr2, they tried to tell me I would get 0 discount as it is a new system.
I inquired about Ivy Bridge and was told that the price will go up if it is announced, smells of sales pitch too don't you think? Or do you think we will see a small price hike when IB is let loose? -
Nah no price increase, mine will be coming with Ivy supposedly at the same prices as online minus discount. -
Did they actually tell you that it will come with IB?

I am a student, who can offer me a stuent discount for M14x R2 -

Thank you. Forgive me, I am just so frustrated because I think I may have to face the reality that the game will arrive early than the machine.

Working on my posts. Saving for m17x
Hey stevie. I just got to this thread today and i saw you are still running with your reps.
I checked the price of a new m17x r4 that i wanted to buy ( 1950 pounds ) but then i saw this site.. HIDevolution. Without VAT it was 1200 pounds and + 20% it was 1440 pounds.
Do you trust that website and do you think this is the best deal ? Thats 490 pounds difference.. :O -
HIDevolution is legit, but they ship from the US so there are things like import tax to think about.
-
i dont get it i cant order the new m14x r2 on site and a sales rep told me it was a mistake on the site and was not orginally meant to come out and is out on the 2nd of may with ivy bridge proceesor, i was able to customize yesterday but today it says i cant.

Also, a few other things to think about are that HiD (by their own admissions) only put a shiping value of $500usd on your package so if it gets lost or damadged, your out of pocket BIG TIME as your machine would have cost far more - they do this to "try" and mitigate UK Duty for the end buyer....paying 20% on 500 works out less than paying 20% on the full cost if you do get caught by customs.
Returns. Not 100% on this but if you are not happy - you may have to pay return shipping to the states.....I would ask HiD.
Some people wil take the route of importing vs. buying in the UK - personally, I wouldnt take the risk on something so expensive, but each to their own. My rep wont be able to beat a US price but he can get you a reduced UK price which would obviously come with no additional duty/charges and you have peace of mind should you want to send it back in the returns period.
-
Stevie, thank you very much for the detailed answer
I will wait another 2-3 weeks so i can get an IVY bridge cpu and then will contact you to see how much we can strip off the original price. Then ill check the prices between HID and the UK price and will decide
I MUST HAVE AN ALIENWARE !( Got a ty acer 5750g atm... )
-
Remember to keep an eye out on cashback sites like quidco/topcashback. I have used them and got 10% off the price plus 15% cashback later (of the EX VAT amount) on top of that. It was a much better deal than the reps could get me, on the m18x system I wanted.
-
Hi Stevie - I've sent you a PM with some details. I hope your tame rep can help!
Cheers,
Andy -

I ordered the m14xr2 the day after it was released, i had to direct the rep to the correct page as he had no knowledge that the new models were released yet!
After speaking to many reps they said that ivy bridge will be released in the uk on the 2nd of may, funnily enough, my m14xr2 got shipped today hopefully with ivy bridge inside
Hope it all works out for everyone
P.S i got 18% of my m14xr2, 8% student discount and 10% from my previous order the m14xr1 which i had to cancel due to the new releases!
Best to ring up reps and haggle =) -
Hey Stevie,
I PM'ed you some details, could you please pass it onto your rep for me.
Thanks -

He must be doing good business at the moment! Quoted me just over 10% saving on an M18x, just waiting to hear back on a couple of updates before getting that bad boy ordered.
-
I managed to get just under 10% on a m17
Happy as

Hi Stevie and everybody else,
New to this forum, but would you be able to PM me (as I can't find out how to PM yourself) as soon as possible (have 6 days left to return an XPS should I decide to do so) with regards to your rep and saving some money on the new M17x r4 please?
Thank you.
PS. Sorry this post is so loaded! -

Look forward to hearing back from you soon and I hope we can save you a bit of cash in the process! -
Oh okay, thank you guys for the warm welcome (makes a change from the majority of society - I work in the coffee service industry
)
I shall get my PM count up and test Crysis on my XPS 17 to see how that goes...
P.S. How long will it take your rep to contact me with a quote? I have 6 days to contact Dell as to if I want to keep this system (I know they charge £20 pickup fee but that neither here nor there.) Thanks guys. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Normally its pretty much the same or next business day. I will pass on your details ASAP and let him know that its urgent. If you have an idea of system & spec you want, include it in the PM and your name and contact details - email and phone would be best so he can get back to you quickly.
Happy Crysis 2 Playing in the meantime! -
Is there anyway you could help me? Maybe an email to me to let me know where to reply to?
Wouldn't be surprised if you can't be bothered but it'd be nice if you do -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I'm always willing to help out - that's why I started this thread so its no biggie for me to see if we can save you some cash.
Thing is, as you only have 3 posts made, you need to have a couple more to be able to send or receive PM's. I would advise you to make a few more posts and then send me a PM and I will be more than happy to help you out!
Look forward to hearing back from you soon!
