Hey Steve, very happy to have found this thread! Many users on the forum have all provided positive feedback in relation to your contact. Can your contact provide me with discount on an M17x R4?

    Hello again.

I had a few questions about those configuration options, primarily, I saw at the color options on the .co.uk site, that it was not available at the time I asked the question.

Going to : The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

1.) It only shows the Alienware M18x Stealth Black [Included in Price] as an option - I could provide a picture, but I hope it's not necessary.

2.) Also, Normally, I would order via the dell.dk site (As I live in Denmark), but as they have currently completely stopped showing the m18x as an option, well, then thats not an option either :(

3.) Another thing I would like to know, is, if it will be possible to configure a dell m18x via your contact in such a way, that it includes a nordic keyboard and nordic plug, but all else remains in uk (the os primarily).

4.) Yet another thing, it now seems that the .co.uk site only allows a single ti560 gpu, where as it was previously up to dual 580 or 6970 ... on the us site, they can configure up to dual 680m or dual 7970m - and I think I saw the 680m / 7970m on the .co.uk site once at least) --- is there anything with my location that could hinder it from showing the correct options ?

5.) Finally, how much rebate is it possible to obtain via your contact, for a m18x, for reasonably specced (I know that he needs to know the exact details for an exact quote, but I hear rebates of 20-30% thrown around).

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards CyberstormXIII

I think you are somewhat confused. You seem to be looking at an M18x R1 but want the options that are only available to the M18x R2, such as new gpu's like 680m or 7970m. These new gpu's are not available if you bought an M18x R1 - they are new gpu's for the new M18x R2 refresh. Dell are still selling remaining stock of the R1 but options are limited...this is why you can only order the black and not Nebula Red. You can order any colour R2 you want but you are looking at the R1 configuration page where options are very limited.

I've answered some of your point above in blue....I hope this helps.

Thank you for your thorough answer ;-)

I had read briefly about the 2 revisions, but were not aware of the color / gpu configuration options and that the R1 were being fused out, and it was only R1 that was being offered with older gpus.

Anyways, thanks to you, I am now in the know of these changes (that to be honest should be offered directly from dell, via their own site - I know they want to get rid of the old stock, but directly hindering high-end cpu/gpu options, because of old stock, seems to me like a bad business decision, in-so-far that costumers might go to another brand and thus loose business, because they wanted to sell their old stock at as a full price as possible - but thats just imho).

I think I will then wait some until R2 becomes widely available.

    Best regards : CyberstormXIII

The R2 is widely available and has been for some time now. I think you are looking at the wrong section of the website.....try checking this link and it should take you directly to the current laptop selection where you can click on M18x and configure your R2 with the latest GPU/CPU.

Hello everybody from another (hopefully) future m18x r2 owner :D

As I'm from Italy, where the situation is fairly similar to Denmark as far as the m18x is concerned, I'm in a similar situation: I'll have to order my m18x from abroad.
A few weeks ago I got a confirmation that the m18x r2 will NOT be sold in several contries, including Italy (and probably Denmark too). So CyberstormXIII, I suspect that the only way to get an m18x r2 is to order from another country for you as well.

This said, I'm planning to contact steviejones133's rep for the order... that is once I'm ready. You know I need some more funds (nothing that the next paycheck cannot fix) ;)

But also, I'd like to ask a couple of questions. First of all, as I'm from Italy, I'll have to use a mail forwarding service to relay the parcel(s) from the UK down here. To do so, I'd like to ask the forwarding service to consolidate the parcels of the shipment... but I'd like to know in advance how many parcels are sent in total and I couldn't find that data anywhere. I suspect at least one for the Orion backpack and one for the m18x itself. Is there something else that is shipped separatedly or is it just two boxes?

Second (and I suspect that the answer to this will be an "I don't know", but I'll try anyway): do you steviejones133 (or anyone else) have any idea of when you rep is going on vacation? Because I was planning to contact him in the week going from august the 20th to the 26th (as in that week I'm on vacation), but if your rep is unavailable in that week, I'll have to change my plans.

    Best regards,

    Andrea.

    Hi Andrea,

I will try and answer your questions.....if you were ordering just a laptop, you should get just one box. If you are ordering additional accessories, they tend to ship separately so you would receive two boxes if you were ordering a laptop and a backpack. Nothing else gets shipped, all you need for the laptop is in one box and any accessories would be sent under separate cover.

If you don't have a UK address to place the order, you will need to find a company that will forward your boxes on to you in Italy. My rep. needs a UK address to accept an order. I suggest a bit of research into a good company to use - I can't provide advice on this as I have never used such a company. Chances are, if you can find the equivalent of the BundleBox service, you should be fine and dandy. (A quick google brought this up but I cannot vouch for the firm...seems to provide the same type of service you would need: MailBoxUK - Parcel Forwarding )

I am not aware of any vacation my chap has planned towards the end of August - I will ask him and if he is planning on taking time off, I will let you know - otherwise assume its business as usual.

    Regards,
    Stevie. :)

    Thank you very much steviejones133.

I already knew about the need for a forwarding service. I found a few and I'm planning to contact them and see if they can forward to Italy. I don't think that it will be a problem, but better ask anyway.

    Best regards,

    Andrea.

Is this deal/rep bloke for real???? I have just read through the last 15 pages beyond belief. Is it a straight 20% discount ? Going to sound greedy but do students get extra or? Lol. I know about needing to post a lot to be able to pm do I'll be onto that. I am just waiting on getting my claim sorted from last year now- almost gone and I'll have enough to get a new laptop if the rep guy pulls through ! Thanks in advance, Connor :D

    Hi there.

Yep. The guy is for real and so are the deals...you could say "it's the real deal" (but I don't wanna sound like David Dickinson ;)).

As for discounts.....they do vary and it's not just a straight up 20%.....many factors can affect the level of discount offered such as specification / amount you are spending overall / Dell's profit margin on the machine etc etc.....

When you are ready, I am sure that we can sort you out with a good deal on whatever you are wanting to buy! - feel free to PM me closer the time!!

I'd say anywhere ranging from 10-25% max. Obviously there is more room for negotiation/discount when ordering, say, a £5000 fully loaded M18x R2 vs. a Stock M11x.

Okay cool. I was thinking about getting either the m14x or the m17x OR if I get REALLLY lucky I could get the m18x. However I feel more comfortable with looking at the 17 and 14. Quick question though, does it include warranty/accidental damage because I have a feeling my dog or brother will be retarded enough to do something stupid to it if i get a new laptop...

You can configure with whatever length warranty you choose and include A/D if you like.....the machine/order would be discounted accordingly. Basically, have a spec. in mind and see how much it is on the website and then see how much it is via my fella ;)

Very keen to get involved with this.

I am slightly apprehensive though. Dell laptops have a knack of being faulty first time round, what happens if the laptop is faulty/doesn't work. Will it be sent back to China or can you send it to Dell UK?

My only other question is whether the dell 7 Day returns policy still applies to laptops purchased through your rep? I'm very keen on the M14x but have not been able to see or hold one so could be put off once it arrives.

There are various options if your system is faulty. If it is within the 7 day period, you can return it and elect for a new build or money back. If faults develop after your return period, you can have an on-site technician come out to attempt a fix for you...sometimes you can ask for a "parts only" service if you feel comfortable fixing/replacing parts yourself. If you ever reach a point whereby the fault is not fixed after a certain number of attempts by Dell to rectify it, you can then ask for a replacement machine of equal or better specification (depending on parts availability).

The 7 day returns policy is still valid if bought through my rep. All home purchases are governed by this and as such, your rights arent affected. If you buy under a business, you do not have any returns period at all.

Hope that answers your questions - feel free to ask more if need be.

Hi Steve! Am intrested in purchasing an Alienware m17x r4 , I live in the uk and as ive been reading yeah they are damn overpriced to heck!

Am starting Uni soon and the reason am opting for an alienware over thier competition is because of the HDMI input which would allow me to connect my consoles up to it!

just a quick question if am looking at an m17x r4 with everything box standard, the only thing i want upgrading is the Killer NIC, the 1920x1080 screen, and a 7970m. Everything can be stock. What price range will I be looking at?

I know that through quidco (4% savings atm) am looking at £1472 for the final price of one.

Just a quick question how many posts do i need to make until i can start PM'ing you lol!

    thanks bro

    Hi there,

Well, I can't give "final prices" but I can tell you that you would be looking at a saving of more than 4% - probably a LOT more. ;)

Thing is, sometimes my chap can offer a "bundle deal" which will be a set specification (which would meet your minimum requirements and more besides) at a better price if you chose NOT to upgrade other components such as ram/optical drive etc.

Don't know if you spotted it a good few pages back (80's I think) but he could do a very good deal on a 17x that had all you wanted and more and instead of being £2k, it was £1600....that's massive savings of around 20% !!!

Oh, and it normally takes about 5 posts on the forum before you have PM access ;)

Hi all, I've been following this thread for some time now...

I'm not quite sure what spec laptop I'm after but looking at the M17-R4 for around £1000. Don't really want to spend much more. Any ideas on a well-rounded spec for about this price? I've got one to within £400 of that figure but really could do with loosing it. lol

Would your chap have anything like that? I've got a spec mocked up on my Dell profile and I see that Dell are currently offering £195 off general models. I've applied a 10% coupon to get to this point.

    How do I pm peeps?

    Hi there,

Well, firstly......I hate to burst your bubble BUT...a 17x R4 for £1k? - that aint gonna happen. They start at £1299 and to get a total base configuration to that price would mean a discount of over 20% and that just isnt gonna happen.

If you wanna send a PM, you have to have made around 5 posts on the forum to activate PM privileges. Once you have done that, click on the name of the person you want to PM.....

Hi all. First time posting. Great forums - been reading through all of the stuff that's available and it's been really helpful. An M14x R2 with the below specs became available on sale.

    Alienware M14x Cosmic Black
    Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM
    English Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
    Free Flight Promotion.
    2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M
    8192MB (2x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
    500GB 7,200rpm SATA 6Gb/s HDD
    14.1" WideHD+ (1600x900) WLED with TrueLife
DVD+/-RW (DVD, CD read and write)
    Killer Wireless-N 1202 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO for Gaming & Video and Bluetooth 4.0
    Primary 8-cell 63W/HR LI-ION
    Anti Virus Not Included
1 yr Next Day In-Home Hardware Support
    No Accidental Damage Protection

I have not changed any of the specs - these are all baseline. The price is £1078.98 with a £95 discount. I have a coupon which further brings this down to £971.08. Shall I go for it and is it worth trying to haggle it down a little over the phone. Has anyone also been able to purchase it for less, or is this roughly a good price to go with (also note I will be getting this on financing so the cost will equate to slightly higher).

    Many thanks for your help.

    Welcome to NBR, Icytech!

Well, with the machine already being discounted by around 10% coupled with your voucher for another discount, I would say that my contact wouldnt be able to compete with that as he cannot combine various discounts from various sources. Seems like a good deal to me so I would be tempted to jump on it - you arent gonna get it much cheaper....I dont think...

Hey - this is super awesome timing I saw this - I was just speccing out ~£2100(web price ex VAT, inc £2500) worth of a Precision laptop, with possibly 5 more orders to come if it meets battery life & performance requirements. I contacted them via the web and got given a rep that offered me ~8% off, but that was it and he refuses to offer any more. Does your rep also do precision laptops?

Also yeah, I forgot to say: thanks for offering this :) 1 quick question: when you ask for "The system you are interested in", do you want all the full customization details palaver, or just the base model?

    Hi mate,

Yep. He can do Precisions - actually, he can do very good deals on them! - especially if you want 5 of them!

Just a basic idea of the spec would help out...ie. cpu/gpu/ram/hdd/os.....you dont have to give me a full spec though....

    Hi Stevie

Just a quick question... Dell have today introduced a buy now and pay in August 2013 option (you pay an admin fee of £49 now and then £25 when you settle this amount). Can your rep offer this as well as the discount?

It's possible I guess. I am not sure how it would affect the level of discount offered but there still be "wiggle room" to get a good deal.....

Hello there could you help me with 2 questions?

Would it be better for me to buy an alienware laptop from america as im going there on holiday in a few weeks and the prices look cheaper. Would i have any problems regarding power supply or warranty?

Would you be able to provide me with a quote that includes a gtx680m graphics card even though they are out of stock at the moment?

    Thanks

I don't think anyone can offer a quote until they are back in stock. Dell won't offer to sell something they haven't got yet.

Regards to buying from the US, power supplies are obviously US plug. Easy fix just to buy a UK power lead and your good to go....

Warranty should be internationally transferable so that should be ok too. Not sure how you would be fixed to actually place an order from Dell USA. Have a look at this thread for some more info: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/452304-how-order-dell-us-non-us-citizens.html

All right so I've ordered my machine! Managed to knock off around 15 pounds from the overall price and delivery date forward from mid September to end August so I have time to prep this for school! Looking forward to using this. Just a bit of advice to anyone - if you come across a coupon/code and it's due to expire, you can ask them to hang onto the price - that's exactly what they did for me.

steve i don't know how to pm people here, so i'm writing it here.
    I live in London.
I wanted to spend in total of £1900 to build a really good aurora r3 desktop. And i realized that the uk website doesn't offer me the option for 680 gtx graphic or that the gtx 690 graphic card is too expensive if u take/buy other stuff as well. but i realized that even though there is no 680 gtx in the us dell store as well the gtx 690 ,which is way more better, is way more cheaper there + it allows me to buy the monitor etc all included near £1900 and if i use coupons for 10% discount it would cost less. The problem is also that not every option are available for uk as for US. example: overcloackable to 4.2ghz cpu or extreme cpu i7 or some type of graphic cards.
So i would like to know from america to have delivered to London how much it could take? they would let me do that? or do i need to buy addressing it to someone who live there? and then send it by post or some shipping companies? and how much this could cost?
are the US current plugs different one from a pc in uk? if it is will i be able to buy or use any plug that i bought from uk in that pc? or i must need us plug with same type of sockets to make it work in uk? (by meaning "plug" i mean the electrical line that will make turn on your monitor or pc, and i wanted to know if the uk 3 pin plug will work with that pc, and if YES how much V or watt does it need to be able to support?).
this is the detail of the pc that i would like to buy from us dell site:

Alienware Aurora R4 Alienware Aurora Desktop
Operating System Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64Bit, English
    Processors 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3820 (10M Cache, Overclocked up to 4.2 GHz)
    Memory 16GB Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
    Keyboard Alienware Multi-Media Keyboard
Monitor Dell S2230MX, 21.5 Inch Flat Panel Monitor
    Video Card 4GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 690
Hard Drive 1TB Serial ATA 3 Hard Drive
    Chassis Color Alienware Aurora
Floppy Drive 19-in-1 Media Card Reader
    Mouse Alienware Optical Mouse, MG100
Network Card 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR USB Combo Adapter
    AlienFX AlienFX Color, Quasar Blue
Adobe Reader Software Adobe® Acrobat® Reader
    CD ROM/DVD ROM Single Drive: 8X Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BD-RE, DVD±RW, CD-RW)
Sound Card Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
    Avatar Alienhead 3D
Office Productivity Software (Pre-Installed) Microsoft® Office trial
Hardware Support Services 1 Year Basic Support
TOTAL: $2,973.99 <------ in £ it is 1895 and + if i find any discount 10% for american dell website and use it it will cost just £1706 pound allowing me to use the spare £100-200 for shipping or plug buying or just save them.
    thnks for the answers.

That's great news. I am glad my chap came up with the goods again......thanks for the thanks LOL ;)

Regarding buying from the US, have a look at this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/452304-how-order-dell-us-non-us-citizens.html

GPU's are out of stock right now and that's why they arent available to configure. Wait a while if you want Nvidia, they will be back soon I imagine.

afaik, using a UK power lead is all that is required. Bear in mind that if you are buying from the US, you will also have to add an additional 20% on top of the price (cost & shipping fees) for customs charges - this makes it not quite as attractive. You can use a service such as BundleBox but then you have their fees to factor in too......

So, a few days late (due to the removal of the 680m option) but I'm finally ready to order :D
PM sent. Let's see if we can make this work from the UK to Italy

    Hello,
I would like to know how long it may take between ordering it here and delivery?
As I am currently outside the UK and will return there only in 4 weeks.

Should I send PM with details now or it is better to wait for 2-3 more weeks??
