yeah - with that level of discount, I thought he may struggle to get any more £££ off....still, VERY sweet deal. Maybe once its configured/ordered, he could do you a seperate deal on a warranty extention if you havent already sorted that out.....have a word with him about it.....

Excellent! - glad my chap came good for you! -
Bi-lingual post coming
Congratulations for your purchase! You didn't mention the most important thing: red or black? Anyway I'm sure you'll enjoy your new purchase.
If you don't mind telling, how did you arrange for the international delivery? This may be useful for others in a similar situation.
Andrea. -
I ordered the black version
For the international shipping, i used the forward2me service, as you did. They seem to have a good service, a reasonable price and they accept paypal.
And due to my credit card limit, I will perform an international bank transfer to Dell's one. (but I will check if i can do a SEPA transfer to save some euros, I found their SWIFT code on the SEPA list). -
i ordered a M17x on 2nd Oct and it's still in Pre-Production stage, anyone else has just recently order?
one of my friend ordered his on 27th Sep and got his on 2nd Oct. I'm wondering what's taking them so long. -
Same situation with my order. Still in pre-production stage.

Folks, please keep order status discussion here:

Thanks -
So I ordered my M17x,
3630 i7
6bg
500gb HDD
gtx 680m
killer wireless
1080p
everything else basic
£1376 including delivery.
(comes to 1550 without any discount vouchers, google them as they tend to expire quickly. You can get 10% off usually and free delivery)
BTW there are 2 versions of customize for the m17x one has the option of the ATI 7970m, one doesnt. The one that doesnt has an automatic £205 discount and will give you the option of the gtx 680m for £250. (Found in the laptop deals landing page).
The more expensive customise route is found through the alienware laptops landing page. -
This is a fantastic price for this system! With a 680m as well?
I'll have to get in contact with this rep - I'm looking for an M17x with 7970m. Hopefully he can help me out like he has you guys!

The page you want to view that deal is this one: The Dell Online Store: Build Your System
If you mention this to my rep when you speak to him, you need to tell him the bundle reference number which can be found when you add/review your online cart. See the spoiler below (and try to ignore my wallpaper
- sorry!):

Hey
Came round to ordering my mx17.
Nvidea setup comes to £2593.95
However the bulk of that's the three years warranty (£360)
The ATI setup comes to £2343.95 again due to three years.
Now I want to spend £2000 and I was wondering what the chances of essentially knocking off the warranty cost via haggling? -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well, that's around 15% of the lower priced machine and a bit less for the Nvidia machine. More chance to reduce the higher priced machine, I imagine but there is only one way to find out....drop me a PM and I will get my rep to discuss it with you! -
Well I was prepared to pay full price ( not paying for it myself, work is) so any money off can be placed in some accessories ( looking at you sennheisers ). Anywhoo il send you a pm next time I'm near a computer.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
No problem. My rep. can certainly get you a discount, that's not a problem. Look forward to your PM. -
hi. i'm looking for a good m18x r2 deal , could you please send me your rep's email or any contact detail ? many thanks
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hi. Once you have made a few more posts on the forum, you can send me a PM (private message) by clicking on my user name. If you send me the details I require from the first post on this thread, I can get my rep to contact you. It should only take a few more posts for you to get full forum privileges - including PM access. -

I also want the warranty/accidental cover as peace of mind

The US spec is £700 cheaper and more product for less price
Any ideas on how to get the US spec @ UK price, from UK Dell, or would i have to order it
Via the US to a friend and get them to courier it too me (is this a possibility)? -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
You will get hammered for UK customs no matter what. On a spec like that, I reckon my guy at Dell could come pretty close to that translated US price with UK discounts. Benefits being that you don't have to worry about UK Customs or anything else. Why not let him see what he can do for you as you might be pleasantly surprised!!! - PM me your contact details (as per post #1 of this thread) and see how cheap it could be to buy direct from Dell in the UK and avoid all the hassle of trying to import. -
Thanks Stevie,
Thats what i would love to happen, US spec but bought from the UK at very competitive price and no hassel on import costs
How can i send you my details, i'm new to this forum business,
Also this would be my first alienware/dell product I'm still using my old HP centrino duo, it's too slow and too old  it's time for a change -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well, once you have made around 5 posts on the forum (you've made a few already
) then you will unlock full forum privileges which gives you access to send anyone a private message by clicking on their forum name. Once you are able to do that, just fire me a message with the contact info etc that I have requested people provide me with from post #1 of this thread and I can then get my chap to contact you to hopefully save you a bundle of cash!. If you wanna include a rundown of the spec you want, please do so as it will hep my rep prepare some figures for you.

Thanks, much appreciated

No problem, happy to try and help out.

Can your guy get discount on Outlet laptops, or would that be asking a bit much?
Thinking about picking up an XPS 14 from there, seeing as I don't think they're worth full retail price considering the reported poor quality of the screen and wifi issues (among other things). I wouldn't expect much but every little helps.
Oops. Didn't realise this was in the Alienware forum. Just found it in search. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well, he can help out with any Dell product but unfortunately, outlet machines are already discounted and he can't add additional discount on top of that. He may be able to help reduce the cost of a brand new machine should you choose to go down that route. If so, please feel free to drop me a line.... -
Hi, Stevie. Can your guy get tax refund letter if I am purchase 18X (around £3000) from he?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well, he can give you an invoice for vat/tax so I presume yes. So you can put it against your business if that's what you are wondering? -
Well, actually I need the "tax refund letter" to declare VAT. I guess your rep must be know this form. Anyway, I am planning to buy a 18X with 3940XM, 680M Sli, killer wireless. So why don't you contact your rep and see what he can get for me? I will leave my email to you once you get the result.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Actually, it doesnt work quite like that (see highlighted text above). I have been asking forum members to send me a private message with their contact details and a brief description of what they want to buy and THEN I pass that along to my Dell Rep. He then contacts you directly to discuss your planned purchase. Basically, this eliminates me from your private dealings. If you like, I am simply someone who "introduces" you and then the two of you get on with things.
As you are new to the forums, you won't have access to send PM's at the moment - don't worry, it only takes for you to make a few more posts and they will be unlocked. You can then click on my forum name and send me a private message with the details I need to give to my rep and he will then contact you to get the ball rolling.
That's how I have been doing this now for some time and it works well. I will stick to this format so when you have access to send PM's, drop me a message and I am more than sure that we can get you a very good deal on your intended purchase! -
Ok, I see. Thanks a lot.

Current r2 owner here looking to upgrade... Got a pair of 5890m's and a 2nd gen i7
I do have the good screen upgrade 1920x1200.
I'd love to figure out how to get it at the us price, but I might just see if I can get one next time im in the states to save me the hassle. Not sure if anywhere does alienware retail though. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well, you can always give my rep a try. He might be able to sort you out with a good deal and if not, nothing ventured - nothing gained. -
Just UK or Ireland also?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Ireland too  -
This won't help many people but it really helped me
UK military serving overseas under the NATO status of forces agreement, qualify to buy Dell/Alienware tax free and with military discount.
My M17xR3 was around £1800 on the dell site, and I paid around £1300.
I can't find the number now but dell have a specific military sales team to help out with this -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yep. It's something like the AAFES scheme for US Military Personnel - might even be the same thing (including UK personnel) under the roof of NATO, I imagine. Not sure if there is a specific UK scheme for UK Military Personnel but I imagine so. I know my chap can apply discounts if you are in the forces - a bit like EPP (Employee Purchase Programme) that is available for students, teachers and the like. I am not sure at what rate (percentage wise) this works out at but I do know it's available. -
Im planning to purchase AlienwareM17xr4.....need a good deal as being a student im running into sm tight budget....
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well, if you want to send me a PM with your contact details, desired spec etc....I'll get my chap to try and sort you out with a good deal! -
Hey guys,
I bought my M17x R3 exactly one year ago and only opted for the 1 year warranty which means it will be expiring in the coming week( Dell website stated it too). However, I just got off the phone with a Dell agent (I plan to extend it) who told me that because of the UK Law, my warranty is actually for 2 years eventhough it is not stated on the website. He also told me that for the 2nd year period, I would only be able to send it to them and not get any technicians if there are any problems.
Just double checking with you guys whether it is true? ( I am an international student in the UK so I am not that clear with the UK Law)
Thanks! -
My understanding is that this is not only part of your statutory rights under the Sale Of Goods Act (SOGA), but it is also part of a EU Directive.
Interesting reading here. Find out about the EU directive 2 year warranty | Consumer Information -
Thanks for the reply!
However, I just got a call from a blocked number claiming that he is a Dell agent. He then told me about my warranty and offered me a deal which is 3 years warranty for the price of 2 at £350. The problem is I am currently on a university trip and this offer only last a day. Is this too good to be true but isn't it dodgy to give my card details over the phone? Thanks! -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I could always get my Dell chap to give you a call if you wanted......PM me with your details if you like. -
Hi Steve, I'm interested in an M18x.
Shall I PM you?
No offer only lasts a day. That much is rubbish. -
Done. Thanks for the help!
Btw, is it worth extending my warranty? (money wise)
My alienware has been serving me well for the past year so I am not sure whether I should extend it.
He kept telling me that the offer only last a day and it was a golden opportunity, etc etc
But I felt that it was dodgy to give my card details over the phone. So I had to decline. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Received and replied!
Received and replied! - I'd say YES. Warranty is invaluable, especially if something does go wrong. I always advise people on getting as much warranty as possible......at the end of the day, having warranty is like having good brakes on your car - you miss them most when they are not there LOL..... -
Btw thanks Steve!!! Your guy gave me a great deal. Gonna think it over for a few day.
Thanks again!!! -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Great news. I am sure he's done his very best price for you - he doesn't really hold back as he knows that you guys are looking for the best deal he can offer. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
I have been looking at getting a new laptop, i was looking at Alienware however, when a similar spec to say a Clevo 170em build from OcUK and the price being more then £500-600 more expensive it just itsnt worth it, which is a shame as the laptops do look nice i just cant accept spending so much more for a similar build all because its made by Dell/Alienware
Saving £££ in the UK buying ANY Dell/AW system OR accessories - please contribute!
