Well, if you are considering Alienware and maybe the M18x, you gotta remember that the build of the 18x is far superior to the Clevo. Solid aluminium outer casing and built like a tank....extremely robust. Also, Dell's system warranty is second to none. I reckon that makes up for the pricing difference and you also get a much more aesthetically pleasing product too

Also, that's why this thread exists - to help you get a good chunk slashed off the website prices!!! - nothing to lose by speccing up a machine and seeing what my chap could reduce the price to.....

maybe it looks nicer, but it isnt £600+ worth of being nicer. Sure it looks nice and thats one of the things i like about them however again it isnt £600+ nicer looking.

I have been looking at Similar builds from OcUK, PCS and Mysn which would cost around £1,500 give or take but similar build for Alienware is more then £2,100....

I was looking at the M17x. Strange that Clevo and such can get dual graphics into 17inch laptops but Alienware has to be 18inch for them to work.

I see they removed Windows 8 upgrade option - it was SO funny yesturday i saw my build valued at more then £1,000,000 (yes that much) and removing the Windows 8 upgrade it reduced it back down to normal prices lol

Just found a deal using EPP and a offer Dell are doing at the mo for a flat 23% off an Alienware £1,528.44 with a 680m and the i7-3740QM with 1920 x 1080 screen offer ends Friday ... think i'll get a better deal ?

That's a tough one, Gary. Both seem like good deals and I don't know if my chap could beat that. Are you combining EPP discount with an online deal?

Sounds like a great deal - I know my guy cannot combine EPP discount with the discount he would normally offer - it's either you use your EPP at normal price or see what deal he can offer you. Saying that, if he is discounting the price from his end, I very much doubt he would be able to do more than 23% off.....

Hiya bud. Well, as you are new to the forum, it normally takes for you to have made around 5 posts on various threads. You will be able to tell when you have unlocked PM access by clicking on the username of the person (me) that you wanna send a private message to (click on the username itself and see the options - once unlocked, PM will be one of them). Man, you gotta ditch that iPad and get yourself some serious firepower LOL......my personal recommendation would be M18x with 680m Sli and as much cpu power as you can afford...

I will wait for your PM and then hopefully start saving you some dosh!

    Hey, quick question.

Do you know if its possible to pay half amount of the laptop sum now and pay the rest in a week?
I am asking just because i will get my full amount in a week but it would be lovely if they start building my laptop meanwhile.

Anyone done something like that ?

    Thanks.

I know you can build your laptop and save the configuration.

Worth doing that then call a rep to see what deal you can do, and explain to them you would like it processing and you will pay a 50% deposit, and the rest later or on a payment plan (that you wont incur any fee on if you settle early).

    Just an idea

There is a zero interest option for 6 months currently. I imagine you could use that and pay it off in full when you get the funds to do so. That would get the ball rolling on your build. If you are wanting to deal with my Dell rep, shoot me a private message when you have made a few more forum posts. I know my chap can offer you a better deal than online for sure - what I am not sure about is how much discount IF you use Dell finance to buy it.....

Alternatively, if using Dell finance means he can't offer as much discount, and if you have one available, I would recommend buying on a credit card "short term" and paying it off in full when you have the full amount. That way, you get max. discount and also get the safety net of credit card purchase protection.

Anyway, hit me up if you want any help with your plans to buy.

Once you have made maybe 5-10 posts, you should have PM access - just keep checking by clicking on my username and when you see "send a PM" - you're good to go!

    Hey Stevie,
    Thanks for the quick reply.

I am not interested in loan. The main reason i am asking if i can pay on 2 parts is so i can receive te laptop faster. Instead of waiting another week for salary and the ordering it. ;)

I will wait for the pm option and ill send you the summary. Ita m18x with double 7970 and so on...

If its possible meanwhile to ask your rep ill be grateful :)

Just to say I got my current machine from the outlet for £750 (GBP) which was a steal 15 months ago, the only issue with it was it was missing a rubber foot and had a tiny tiny scratch on the M17x nameplate on its underbelly). Worth grabbing as ive nearly got enough funds to turn it into a monster. (Aiming for a 7970m, 3940, HyperX ram and a 512SSD &750HDD, still a month or two away yet)

Just spoke to my rep about the "pay in two halves" thing. That's not possible.....what IS possible is to order the machine Today (or ASAP) and have your bank setup a payment for the full amount on a specified date in the future (eg. when your salary gets paid in). This way, you can get the ball rollin' right away.

So, whe you want, Shoot me over your spec along with name telno and email and I will get him to contact you....

It's okay - I'd say it's on topic as you are looking to save money! - BundleBox are a reputable business. I've seen/read many reviews on TV etc about their services so I would be pretty sure they are fine to deal with. As for buying from Dell in the US with a non US card, I'm not 100% but I imagine that's not the case.....you could try asking over here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/669327-alienware-sales-assistance-thread-redux.html - those guys deal with Dell Sales in US/Canada so they should be able to answer that one....

I'm staying in Stockholm. I would like to get my first AW through Dell UK (obvious reason, cost, everything right here is so much costlier).

Any idea whether DELL UK would ship here? Doubt so since there have Dell Sweden.
So most probably I have to ship through some 3rd party (forward2me, borderlinx, etc)? Or someone have better suggestion?

Lastly, still worried about the potential additional cost of duty tax & VAT. I found that there should be no duty tax since it is laptop purchase. But I was confused with the VAT, anyone know whether I'll be hit with the additional VAT (25%) when it reach Sweden, Read through a few in the web, found contrary facts, some stated no additional VAT since both countries are EU states, while some stated there might be up to 25% of VAT charges on both the cost + shipping & insurance costs.

    Thanks in advance! :)

I would assume that since you already paid the VAT amount in another EU Member state you wouldn't need to pay it again once it reaches your country. But I would double check with your local customs authority as it may be different from the UK legislation.

Called European Union, there should not be an extra tax. I ordered several items from the UK, to mid Europe, and there was not any extra tax. Hope it helps.

Tho you have to pay VAT once, either in the Sweden or in the UK.

Think of me as a middle man or an introducer. Basically, I have been dealing with the same Dell Rep for many years for business and personal machines. He always looks after me when buying so I thought that you guys would maybe like to benefit too. I discussed this with my rep and of course, he is up for as many sales as he can get, but at the same time, he knows that you guys will be looking for a good deal too.

It's pretty much that simple. Anyone who wants to deal with him can give me me a shout via private messaging here and I will in turn pass on your details to my rep and he will contact you over your intended purchase. I do it this way (instead of me posting his details or sending you his contact info) so that he knows you have come to him via myself. That way, he knows that you are looking for something a bit special in way of a discount. At that point, I have nothing further to do with any of it - it's purely between you and him.

    Hope that helps out....

I say this to most folk. Level of discount depends a great deal on how much you are spending and what configuration you want. Certain components such as Ram and SSD's, warranty etc all have bigger profit margin's for Dell so if you configure with those, there is more room for negotiating a larger percentage in terms of discount. Example would be you are gonna get more discount off a fully loaded M18x than a base level M14x.......

And yeah, once he contacts you, you deal with him either via email or phone - that's up to you. I advise phone because it's quicker and more instant but it's entirely up to the individual if they want to or not.

Pretty quick for a custom machine. I'd say around 2-3 weeks from date of order to delivery. Maybe sooner, depends a bit on stock of parts....

For people who are looking to get a good discount on M17x with pretty much base spec (7970m, 8GB, 1080p screen) you will be getting a pretty good discount. Just put mine on order, cant wait enough
