Just wanted to say a big thank you to Stevie for putting me in touch with his rep. Managed to sort me an awesome deal on an M18x with 2920XM, GTX580M SLI with all the toys at almost a 25% discount.

If you're thinking of buying an AW all I can say is get in touch with him asap!

Ah I see you're from Chester? I was out shopping there last weekend >_>

Anyways, out of curiosity Stevie, does your rep give discounts on tailored/loaded systems or can he work his/her magic on the barebones/stock deals?

Just curious as to howmuch a base m11x r3 or m14x would run at? They're a bit extravagant for what I'm after and I'd sooner go for a Sony/HP/Toshiba but I've always fancied an Alienware and well...

If your rep is as good as everyone is making out!

    Cheers for any help! :)

I will be honest mate.....the more you spend, the better the discounts. I cant comment on "how much" discount can be had as I dont know the profit margins on each system....each one will be different depending upon configuration.

Best thing to do is gimme the info requested on page 1, 1st post (via PM) and you and my rep can have a chat about it.....

    Best I can do mate!

Ey up....just registered purely for this thread...

After reading through the whole thing, it seems that ole stevie boy is giving us hard working ripped off UK chaps a connection to some decent deals..

So santa claus, are you sticking round til, say, October?

Im definitely getting a new gaming spec laptop around then, I just can't make up my mind on the Alienware m17x or Asus G73. With the latter, you get a bag, mouse, 3d glasses and blu-ray burner all in. However if I could get a decent deal I'd rather get the AW.

So you still gonna be around in October?
    Cheers mate

Blinkin' well hope im still around LOL :D - personally, I think you would deffo be better off with an Alien. Totally so much better. If you like 3d, get the M17x....slap in a BR Burner later if thats a requirement.

Im sure my rep can get you a cracking deal whenever....who knows, if you could buy now, you might even get a better deal!

Send me a PM as and when you are looking to buy!

Happy Xmas (ho ho ho!) :D

    He he he

No can do sonny jim, it's hard enough convincing the missus that I absolutely must have a £1500 AW laptop for work rather than a £300 jobby from tesco, let alone I need an AW and I need it NOW lol

But yeah I bought my first alien 3 years ago, an area 51 desktop and told myself I'd never go back.

Thing is, I'm wondering whether im dreaming getting say, 15% off a £1500 deal AND a bag and mouse.

Am I living in lah lah land??

Hahaha. I wont lie and say 15% and accessories will be available for that kinda outlay. I think it would be pushing it a bit, maybe but who knows closer to the time, eh?

Obvioulsy, the more spent, the more discount can be offered as a rule of thumb.

Oh, and the missus dilemma.....why is it that they ALL think that a tin pot £300 comet or Tesco jobbie will suffice......try tellin' THEM the same kinda thing when its a Prada handbag or a pair of Jimmy Choo's....it would be "but I absolutely MUST have them.....god, dont you know who Jimmy Choo is you ignorant SOB" hehehehehehe :D

Women, cant live with em, cant let 'em near your computer either!

I managed to get enough posts to send a PM. I will drop you a note shortly Stevie.

A fully configured M18x sure is expensive though (Dual 580M and 4 Yrs warranty):

    UK Site: GBP 4594
    US Site: USD 5053 - GBP 3146 (31.5%)

Quite a bit of a markup there for buying in the UK. Let's see what your rep can do :).

Shoot me a PM with the info requested on the first page and I will get himi to contact you to discuss your purchase if you like, hopefully save YOU some money! :D

This thread is very helpful. I am interested in buying a m11x but i dont need a r3 model, a r1 would suffice however you can no longer buy new r1's from dells site so is there a way i could get a cheap new m11x r1? Does dell have a warehouse full of new r1's that they haven't sold or something? Ive looked in the outlet but there not that cheap and are all refurbs.

Dont know if you can buy a new M11x R1 now mate....chances are if you dont want an R3, you would have to choose whatever is available via Dell Outlet Shop......

Thats what i was afraid of, although ive seen a lot of r1's on ebay but there mainly used without a warranty. Theres a couple of new ones floating around but still not very cheap, there is one on amazon new for £499 which isn't too bad of a price and a couple on ebay for about £549.

I guess i'll monitor ebay etc and see if any new r1's come up for sale which are any cheaper. But i dont want to buy without a warranty, especially with the r1's and r2's reputation for their hinges.

Can't wait to follow that advice! Just waiting whilst my money builds up.

Anybody know when the £1700 price tag on the m18x is likely to drop?

As long as I get it for Skyrim (Nov) I'd rather wait and save £££

See that little grey icon next to your user name? - well, when someone from the forum agrees or would like to "big-up" someone for thier efforts or contribution to the forum, they can "add reputation" to that members post by clicking the middle icon below the user name of the person they wanna "rep"

The more times you get repped, the more status icons you get....like mine are green and I got a few....other members have alot more....its a good indicator as to how "useful or helpful or knowledgeable" that member is....bit like points make prizes lol.

Hey Stevie, I take it your reps still up and running!? Like a mug I'v just bought an M17X R3 only a couple of days ago through the online process, playing full price. Like others, I've JUST seen this thread, and am now severely kicking myself... Considering that I haven't even had the order confirmation email sent yet, I reckon I've still got a good few days to cancel my order right? If your rep is still active and giving good discounts to UK buyers, could you let me know, and if so, expect an inbound PM soon!

BTW: The M17X I ordered came to ~ £2600, am I in my right mind to expect at least a 10% discount on that (I'd be gunning for 15%, but anymore do you reckon I'd be pushing it?)

    cheers!

I'm seeking for informations about buying Alienware in Slovenia as we don't have neither Dell online nor normal store. We only have 2-3 importers which are tough to bargain with. I am thinking about buying Alienware m17x or m18x with following configuration:

    Alienware M18x : Stealth Black
    Processor : Intel Core i7 Processor 2720QM (2.20Ghz, 6MB, 4C)
Display : 18.4in Widescreen Full High Definition (1920X1080) WLED LCD
Camera : Integrated 3.0 Mega Pixel HD Camera
    Resource DVD : Alienware M18x
    Ship Accessory : English Docs
    Memory : 8GB(4X2GB)1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
Hard Drive : 256GB Dell Mobility Solid State Drive
Optical Drive : 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including software
Power Supply : Alienware 330W AC Adapter
    Power Cord : Euro 250V
    Battery : Primary 12-cell 97W/HR LI-ION
    Carry Case : Not Included
Graphics : Dual 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6990M CrossFireX
Sound Card : Integrated High-Definition 5.1 Performance Audio Powered by Klipsch
Bluetooth : European Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Card
    Wireless : Europe Killer Wireless-N 1103
Keyboard : Internal US/International QWERTY Keyboard
Operating System : English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium (64 BIT)
Software : Datasafe Local 2.0 Basic
Software : Dell Stage E-MAGAZINE Software
    Software : Dell Stage Software
    Avatar : Alienhead 3D
AutoMatic Updates : AutoMatic updates - On
    Antivirus : McAfee Emerging Market / 1DD - PROMO 15mo Subscription
Hub countries only - Carry In Service 3Y Warranty
1 Keyboard : US Euro Alienware Enhanced Gaming Keyboard (KIT)
1 Mice : Alienware TactX Mouse

The price, which I got from one of these importers is 3600€. That is ridiculous if you ask me as when i was reading through these forums, some were able to negotiate to get more than 25-30% off, especially in US (the price for same config there is 3800$ - and someone got it for 2500 after some talking with Dell's reps).
I am asking you now, if you could help me get the best price within EU as the importer said that he will only ask Dell for better price if I link him proof that someone is able to offer it for so less.
If you need any additional information I will be willing to answer, otherwise I seek for your help. Thanks in advance

P.S. After reading this stuff, steviejones133, I hope that you could provide me a certified receipt, so I could forward it to the importer. The price for that computer in US would be no more than 2400€, but it is probably impossible to obtain such price in Europe, right? Thanks again! :) :)

P.P.S. Prices in Slovenia are the same as on Alienware.de (Germany, except that pounds are converted straight into euros)
