You should be able to PM now.
I will be honest, I am not sure if my rep will be able to assist. He deals with UK and Ireland and I think that you will need a UK addressed credit card or shipping address to be able to order....I will ask him but in the meantime, feel free to drop me a PM with the info requested on page 1.
Maybe he can do something....who knows - we can only try for you!

If I order it from US, how will I get the required Slovenian keyboard layout with letters š č ž?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Perhaps Dell have a part number for a Slovenian Keyboard layout that you can order seperately - not sure. -
Hey Stevie, I am looking into purchesing a M18X soon (Lurked for a while but not really posted before so can't PM yet)
Anyway, I was looking at:

which comes out as £3,220.99 and was wondering if A) your reps are still around, and B) if it would be possible to get an idea of if they can help and by how much.
So thanks for the awesome thread, and here's hoping I will hear back soon! ^_^ -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yep. I can still get you to the right guy to get a good deal. Its difficult for me to say just how much discount he will offer as different configurations carry different margins for Dell (profit). I would say that it wouldnt be any less than 10% as a bare minimum....obviously, the more you spend, the greater chance of more discount. Best to speak to him really!
Once you have made enough posts on the forum to send PM's, drop me a message with the info from page 1 and we will get the ball rolling for you 'eh?
-
Sounds good, I'll get cracking with those post then.
EDIT: oh, I was wondering how insurance was covered, is it still just the normal Dell/Alienware insurance as normal? -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Warranty? - 1,2,3 or 4 yr Next Day Hardware Support and optional Accidental Damage Cover to run alongside if you want.....if you ask me, best to get as much cover as you can possibly afford - Dell warranty is pretty damn good "should" the need arise, you wont regret spending the extra IMHO. -
Hello.I would like to ask if the help you offer is available to people outside from UK,in my occassion Greece. If it is,when i get the posts i would like to send you my configuration cause i might be interested buying an Alienware for a good price instead of paying 2k euros for models with old sandy bridge cpu's.Thanks
-
What I meant was do I still buy the insurance direct from dell or do I have to get it from else where due to your reps?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Gotcha - well its a bundle so you will want to arrange whatever level of warranty you want at the time of ordering with my rep. Its far cheaper to buy it at point of sale than change your mind and upgrade afterwards.....its like waaaaaayyyy more expensive that way around....so yeah, my rep will arrange that too..... -
Alright, do you get a cut of all these sales you pass on?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hahaha - wish I did as I could have bought a few Alienwares by now.....
-
Shameless PM unlocking post
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hehehe......terrible...shame on you
-
Looks like it might take up to an hour for it to update and let me PM *Sad Face*
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Nah...just get about 10-15 posts on any thread and you should get it right away..... -
From what I have read, it was just 5 posts.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Well it can vary....10 or more should do the trick......
-
Well hopefully it won't be much past 10.
Is it worth going for that Nvidia SLI one that adds £1000 to the system, or is the ATI fine? (I have only used ATIs in my computers so far, coincidence rather then choice really) or is the price difference not worth it for a visual difference? -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Have you looked at the m18x benchmarking thread? - lots of comparisons of 580 vs 6990 right now going on......some people love nvidia so will only go with 'em....personally, if the performance is in the same ballpark, i would save myself £500 to spend on something else....but if you love nvidia....you got your answer right there! -
Well as I said, I slightly lean to ATI, but I am not a fool that refuses to go on the side that would be better because of brand loyalty.
I'll have a look at that thread now. -
Hello.I asked before but i did not get an answer. Is this 'help' available to countries outside Uk?,greece in my occasion.Cause i am interested to buy an alienware for a good price.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Sorry. Must have missed your post.
Well, its possible. You would have to talk to my rep but I know he has arranged systems for non UK & Ireland guys....
I suggest that once you have made enough posts on the forum to get Private Message priveledges (PM's), send me one with the info requested on page one of this thread and we shall see if my rep can help you out with your purchase.
How does that sound? -
Seems great.I will drop you a PM when i got the necessary posts. Thanks
-

Hello,
It's my first post here and I'm seeking some help with buying an AW m17x r3 with a 2720 and an hd6990. I'm not too excited about importing it from the US because the VAT here in Romania is at 24%, even greater than in the UK, and I don't think there's a chance that I could get a reasonable discount from Dell US.
If it's a must, I guess I could use a UK-based parcel forwarding service...
Oh, and it would be nice if someone could confirm that the hd6990 is switchable, as the hd6970 because that's the main reason why I want an AW.
Thanks -
Isn't there anyone that can help me?
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
You need to get a few more posts on the Forum before you can send me a Private Message (PM) with the info equested on page 1. I can promise my rep will be able to assist as you are in Romania but he may be able to. he has helped other people from outside the UK but you would need to talk to him ideally, to discuss this. -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I take it you no longer require assistance with buying??
-
computerpsycho101 Notebook Enthusiast
hey man im also thinking about purchasing the m17x R3...so i was thinking can you get the cashback.... (right now its 12.12% on that site) use the student discount (8% as long as your a student) and wait for the right time to get a any system dell coupon... so you could get a 20 - 26% if my idea works!!!!but if not steve you gotta hook me up with your contact...uk alienware prices are RIDICULOUS!! -
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Im not sure if you can get all of the above discounts at once....worth a try maybe. All I know is that my guy can do a good deal by going straight to Dell.
PM me if you want me to get you connected with him. -
computerpsycho101 Notebook Enthusiast

computerpsycho101 Notebook Enthusiast

steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate

computerpsycho101 Notebook Enthusiast

computerpsycho101 Notebook Enthusiast

Hi All,
I'm going to order my M18X through a Dell rep and was wondering how much discount people have managed to get from them? I have heard that they will haggle if you do but I'm wondering what the 'sweet spot' is so I can start off by asking them for much more than that.
I will be getting - 2920XM, 6990M CF, BluRay, 3 Years Service, 750GB 7200rpm and everything else is pretty much stock as I'm going to do the RAM and SSD myself.
It's expensive so I think with the prices they sell at in the US (I'm in Ireland), they should be able to give at least 10-15% if I'm paying up-front.
Any insight is appreciated. -
I am not going to give you the exact number I've scored, however, I can tell you to keep on trying. The 1st rep you call refuses, call another one, and then another one, and e.g. the 6th one will give you 20%. Don't get discouraged.
-
Cheers for the reply, anything near 20% would be sweet! I'll call every rep they have!!!
Saving £££ in the UK buying ANY Dell/AW system OR accessories - please contribute!
