I'm not sure if parts are sourced from different stock for the Netherlands than they are for the UK but I placed my order on the 09/07 and mine is getting delivered tomorrow. That is along with payment issues causing a 10 day delay.
I feel really sorry for you having to wait all this time as I know it's really hard when you want something so badly.
-
yes, maybe thats possible
because payment went fast no problems,
Alienware confirmed it on 6-7-2007
i called today to change the CD, to a CD w/ lightscribe technology, she told me next week it should be there so lets see
and now i am back on phase 2
patience..patience... -
yeah i know what you mean i ordered mine on the 13/7 and im still on phase 4, and all i can get out of alienware is that once the parts arrive it will take 7 working days, but they wont estimate how long it will be until the parts get to them.
-
what part do you think is holding it up so long on yours... -
Its the 1900 x 1200 screen
-
I ordered the m9750 the middle of July and was told on Monday, 8/6, that the system was in phase 3 and would not be receiving some parts until the following Monday, 8/13.
The system's expected ship date was originally 8/13 so that news was dissapointing.
HOWEVER, when I checked my order status online tonight, my order appears to be in phase 8. Hopefully this is not an error and is correct. I may still receive my system on time! -
So Santa Rosa supports 4gb of ram? No problems...
-
Holly crap!?
From the alienware site.....
really?!? -
So to update what I said earlier, my system was shipped and I have FedEx tracking numbers. So those of you who ordered before me and were waiting, you might want to check your order status...
-
i ordered a extra battery, maybe its causing this delay ?
-
They're probably getting an unexpected amount of m9750 orders and probably more unexpected second battery orders, lol the battery is probably one of the few decently priced items in their options
-
does the m9750 has infrared or do i need to use teh external usb one?
-
by the way for vista user, what score do you have?especially for hdd
do you have raid or not? -
There's no infrared on it
you have to go for the USB one -
Hi All,
I received my M9750 today and I love it
One thing I'd like to ask is do you actually get a copy of Vista on DVD with the system because I don't seem to have one. All I reveived was a Vista Recovery DVD and a Master CD? -
The m9750 has a built in IR receiver in the left speaker. I know it's not mentioned anywhere, but I'm typing on my m9750 right now and have successfully used the mini remote without the USB receiver. The range isn't that great with the internal receiver.
-
yes there is, it's located by the bottom left speaker...you can't see it...but it's there
-
it comes w/ an OEM DVD, so if you "nuke" your system for a fresh install...you can use that w/ the key on the bottom of your system to re-install vista...
but you will need the drivers from the website, so dl the drivers from the website to a thumbdrive or external hdd before you nuke your system..
unless you bought alienware recovery dvd/which is convenient and it restores everything after you installed vista w/ all the factory settings, including all the drivers etc. -
that's great, i didn't know that infrared inside the speaker..
Forums are great as you can see..
you learn a lot off new stuff -
Sorrry yang88she but do you mean the Vista Recovery DVD then? If that is not it then it looks like they forgot to pack it
As I said I only have the Vista recovery DVD, Master CD and Respawn 2.0. -
you got everything you need i didnt get a xp and vista cd either. the recovery cd should reinstall everything if you ever need it.
-
Ok that's cool thank you
-
yeah what xpbballx99 said =P
-
I don't get it...what is the deal with infrared, this is a new concept to me.
Also does anyone know if there is a huge difference between the two resolutions options (ie does anyone have pictures of the differences). I think I am going to get ready to purchase this bay boy in the next days. -
One more things...is doubling up on hard drive cache (8mb to 16) going to double performance? At least a noticeable difference?
-
well I did notice a massive difference in OS loading times/game loading when it came to a 5400rpm hdd vs a 7200rpm hdd..
as far as the resolutions...it's really up to you on what you want or better yet...what your eyes can tolerate.
you can always get an esternal lcd for higher resolution/HD content -
These are my 2 old Alienware 5750, 1 i bought for my younger brother w/ the 1440 x 900 pictured on the right and mine w/ the 1920 x 1200 pictured on the left...as you can see, even though the picture is taken pretty far away, that the icons on the 1920 x 1200 is a LOT smaller than the 1440 x 900...so if you have bad eyes, then I would suggest going w/ the 1440 x 900.
also, when I had the 2 side by side, the 1440 x 900 does seem to be brighter than the 1920 x 1200 screen...hope this helps to give you a comparison
-
wow dude thanks a lot!
-
no worries, just here to help =D
-
The Icons and text are around the same size as WXGA on a 13 inch screen at the higher res (i.e. My VAIO vs. m9750)
It's also true that the smaller res screen is brighter:

Well just to let everyone know. i have just recieved a email from alienware and they are out of the black acessory set and the internal tv tuner again. the estimated delivery date of the parts is september 3rd so dont hold your breath for getting your machine soon. i should have had mine tomorrow but it looks like im gonna have to wait another month for it just to start getting built. im starting to get dissapointed with alienware what with all the good reviews that i have read about them but this seems like a reocurring problem, letting there customers down before they even get the system from them.
-
Go figure lol, don't go hating on Alienware because they're getting massive amounts of orders for the m9750
-
your missing the point, as i said i ordered mine a month ago since then the same parts have been out of stock twice now you would think that alienware knows how many parts they need to order to fulfil the orders they have but thats not the case. im not hating just stating the facts.
-
it's not necessarily Alienware not ordering enough parts...it's the distributors not having enough "lcd's, tv tuner's, etc.) to export to Alienware in time...
keep in mind Alienware is world wide, and the 9750 is literally one of the most popular alienware systems of all time.
delays for any kind of custom anything are expected...
sorry to hear about your delays, but I feel bad for the people who pre-ordered & waited 2-3 months for their machines...
but I'm sure you will be blown away once you have recieved your rig...cheers -
Sorry to hear about that dave
but i waited over a month just on phase 4 lol. now that i have it all my complaining about taking awhile to get it has all gone away of my head this thing is a beast machine.
Ya and what yang said its not alienware fault if they could get all there parts right now they would but its not them who make screens etc. -

Question for those who know.... You can upgrade the sound card now...from the High Def to the X-fi. My question, is the X-fi going to be better ($100 better)?
By the way I finally fell into the temptation and just dropped $4000 to buy one...ohhhh the wait. -
so do i need the external ir usb module?
-
Well my bro has the x-fi sound and i don't see much diffrent between mine and his but overall the x-fi will make a little bit of diffrence. like the only way i hear the sound good on m9750 is if i plug in my headset to really hear the high defination good sounddd with realtek high defination and sounds good so if dont wanna waste $100 no need for upgrade.

I wouldn't bother with a sound card for a notebook. The M9750's sound is very good and is fine for gaming and music.
If you have Vista, there is no point to getting a sound card because Vista does not have DirectSound support. -
Bah, I'm just trying to get peeps to get over the m7700 period lol, a lot of bad rep, especially wih pricing but in the present the AW is only $300 more expensive than the Clevo D900C and M570RU at Sager, in europe in fact it turns out to be cheaper
AW ain't such an evil company no more, its gotten competitive
-
The m9750 has a built in IR receiver in the left speaker
-
Yeah. The 7700 (Sager 9860 series) were real lemons. Sadly the issues didn't crop up until a year AFTER the notebooks were out. When my 9860 died, I refused to look at another Clevo, especially one with a desktop proc.
The m9750 has exactly what I wanted. Its a killed machine. It is my precious. -
Hope you enjoy that sweet machine! I have to say I am a bit jealous...
You should check out the Alienware laptop bags, almost as sweet as the laptops themselves (almost).
-
Hmmm speaking of bag. I was looking for either a Jansport or North face backpack that will fit the laptop comfy. Anyone have any suggestion as to what backpacks will fit. (No I don't want the alienware the ).
-
Oh yeah...and a sleeve that will fit, Thank you!
-
Haha never mind, I think I found the perfect one (Jansport Rockridge). Even though the dimensions states "Laptop Pocket Dimensions: 11.5 x 2 x 16in (29.2 x 5.1 x 41cm)" I don't think the fact the laptop dimensions 11.75" in height will matter. I mean what's a extra 1/4"....right?
-
yes your right
so the external one is useless...
any way do over/under clock teh gpu fr more power/battery?
