it is what I suggested a couple of pages ago![]()

Ok...just to update on the lighting issue. I spoke with Alienware tech support, and they seem to have the correct info now. The lid lighting IS in fact installed. The tech I spoke with was actually pretty well informed on the matter. He said that the system engineers are working on a firmware update to fix the issues that they had with the lighted lids. He said to call them back in a couple of weeks as he was unsure how the updated would be administered.
All in all, this machine is beautiful and Im lovin it! -

hi kidego
can you post some pictures becaue mr. water pictures seems dark to me. And by the way do you have the 8800gtx video card? -
The adapter Alienware is selling is HDMI-to-DVI- D...the D is for digital...VGA is analog...it won't work...
For a while, there was a DVI-A spec as we transitioned from VGA to DVI so there were DVI-A-to-VGA adapters...
A VGA device wants an analog signal...it doesn't know what to do with the digital signal delivered by HDMI or DVI-D... -
anyone will try to install vista64bit or can tell me if there are drivers and utilities (ie. alien ommand center) for that?
-
does the fan ever stop with the integrated vga?
-
-
also i posted a video on youtube

-
Has anyone posted a picture of the bottom? I was wondering what the name plate looks like. Thanks
-
Present owners...have you guys messed with the Advanced Alien FX application yet?? Some pretty cool theme settings for the lights

On the issue of the HDMI, here is the resonse from an AW rep who I have faith in:
The answer to your question is yes, the HDMI supports both audio and video.
You can check it in this link:

Has anyone tested the 8800m GTX with crysis yet?!
-
Well not yet, but i saw a threat, were they have benched some notebooks with 2.2 GHz and 8800m GTX. You could play the game at 1440x900 with everything on high(around 30fp) and 1280x800 with everything on very high(around 25fps).
This indicates that the m15x will probably play with higher fps if you get mature
drivers and some OC. -
I can't find the Realtek audio application anywhere on my computer, all I have been trying to use was the sound menu through windows.
My realtek folder doesn't have any exe files to launch. -
mrwater, try typing run.exe in the "search panel" in START. then type msconfig and check your startup items. Look and see if the Realtek audio app is listed there. Actually I don't think you need to type run.exe, since it's Vista.
-
If I found that out (say it's a part with lots of fog) then I could maybe turn down that one setting to medium and enjoy the rest at high/very high. -
nope, realtek isn't listed there. i went to their site, but i have no idea what to download. ahh this is nuts
-
The loading section did drop to 2 fps(within 1.5 sec i got steady fps).
And how often do notice the loading checkpoint? -
Audio driver 6.0.1.5485

1,500.00 Gbp = 2,947.11 Usd and that is for the most basic version, omg this is crap, 2.2 Ghz
Who would be mad enough to buy one of these from the uk£600/£700 overpriced
-
I tried crysis yesturday and its definatly playable in 1440x900 all on high with some fps drop. I ended up setting it to 1280x720 all high cause I like when its really fluid. Im using 169.28 driver I think you loose a bit of perfomance on crysis with them too.
Got my hand on a digital camera here is a picture of the m15x in action.
-
Thanks, that's a nice pic, hemlock. There is only one button for the touchpad?
-
-
and small entre button, presumably for playing games, this gives you more buttons or something!
-
Plus I didn't get an m15x specific manual, I got a generic mobile alienware manual. Maybe they rushed mine out and just gave me whatever they had? OH crap, they also didn't give me a driver for my microphone on the monitor! Damn they really rushed mine out
Also, how did you get that page? I can't access the m15x drivers from the drop down menu. Thanks for the help -
hemlock, my imprssion or the screen is very reflective?
-
Hey guys congrats on the new AW's. I didn't want to start a new thread on this but i would appreciate if you could do a specific benchmark. I would like to see what the "CS:S stress test" would be at 1440 by 900 full settings and full aa/af and then one without aa/af. I would really be interested in the results. It would be interesting to know if one person with the 2.8ghz could compare to the 2.4ghz to see if there is any significant CPU differences.
Thanks! And again...congrats! -
I went to the AW site, and then clicked support. Then I went down to drivers and downloads near the bottom half of the page.
I'm really surprised at the lack of support you received. I guess that they assumed that you would know where to get it...
Hope you solve the audio issue. -
I manage to find some benchmarks with similar specs as the M15x (since no one has the time yet). Its the sager NP 5792 and though its not exactly the same, but nevertheless I bet the M15x bench mark is somewhere near this
Here is the reviewed specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 (2.8GHz/6MB L2 cache/800MHz FSB) - 45nm Penryn
Video card: Nvidia GeForce 8800M-GTX 512MB
RAM: 4GB DDR2-667
Hard Drive: 160GB 7200RPM Seagate Momentus 7200.2 SATA
and here are the links:

Benchmarks here:

Thanks for the links, rexibaby87. We need accurate benchmark from an m15x itself. The specs may be the same, but the drivers for each notebook are different and this will effect the score.
-
I checked my hive and clicked around, I found the page. I downloaded the driver you linked me to, this corrected my mic issue. My HDMI issue is still unresolved, I might need to update a different driver for something else.
I wonder why they didn't install that on my machine? Clearly they didn't test out the mic before they sent it, if they didn't instal the driver.
Anyway, this rocks! Thanks again -
So, I'm on the case, but it'll take a bit -
Arrhh hell. even if it doesnt I still go for M15x. That sager just doesnt cut the mustard. ( in design) -
-
yeah it is sexy
mine cost almost 5k lol, but hey, you pay for the looks. -
I decided that I just could not go with the dell m1730, I was but its too big. plus they dont tell you which resolution you get with it, I WANT 1200P foos!!
-
Does the smartbay comes with the notebook even if i put none at the configuration?
I am thinking of putting my old 80gb HDD into the smartbay but does not know if they provide an empty smart bay if I put none at the config. -
lol, your optical drive IS the smart bay. you buy special smart bay drives or batteries which go into it
-
On the HDMI audio problems, I am just glad I have the e-mail from AW, os if I have a problem, they will have to give me a full refund or even a discount to keep the comp if the audio does not work.
I really hope someone on here can get their HDMI to output Audio and Vid. -
I dunno about that, I have seen computers with hdmi but only put out picture, due to the fact that the audio out comes from a different source. But you would think that alinware would be able to integrate the two when working on the BIOS of the system.
-
-
the result wasn't updated, i still can't get the audio out of the hdmi for some reason. i think it's a driver issue with the motherboard or something.
-
full aa/af: average ~100 fps, but at its lowest it can get down to 50fps (though only for a few split seconds, so those could just be anomalies)
without aa/af: no less than 120 fps
results from de_dust2
2.6 GHz, 4GB RAM (only 3 appears in vista) -
