I hope some of the updates are that the m15 gets more cells in the battery, like 15 or something :), and then also can get stock 5870 in there...... That would be nice....... Just sayin :).

EDIT: Oh and an optical audio port, seriously no one uses anolog anymore, of that headphone jack surround sound.... too cumbersom.

The future for everything tech related is being able to hook it up to your home theater.

Alienware is putting me in a tough spot! I'm in a battle between them and Clevo. When I am willing to spend so much $, I do not want to compromise.

I want a desktop CPU, and potential nvidia offering (just for choice). I would go with Clevo, but I want the RGB 1920x1200 screen and better build quality-- also with my discounts it is cheaper to go alienware.

The compromise has made me consider a third alternative: Asus G73Jh! I figure if I can't get what I want by spending a lot of money, I might as well save a bunch of money and get something pretty decent.

I'm going to ponder over this more, but I'm slowly getting ready to just pull the trigger on the cheaper Asus. I just have a problem spending so much money if it isn't what I want.

So.. here is to hoping AW does some desktop CPUs!

E3 opens tomorrow. Most likely AW will unveil it's "new" stuff tomorrow early in the morning...

    Let's see what happens...

    Wouldnt get too excited....

We've had like 3-4 reps say something is coming September and Joker saying a M18x is on the way but not anytime soon. If thats the case there would be no showing of a 480 SLI laptop at E3. There may be private off the record showings to VIPS's but we'd never get to see any pictures.

All that said I think Chaz might be able to come back and say, "Yeah something is definately in the works soon".

yea. most likely alienware will lag behind someone else in terms of GPU annoucements. clevo will have it's 480M sli, and a few months later, Alienware will have it. I'm not looking to get excited. If something awesome comes up, then it does.

That's not really a correct assesment either. DELL since it took over AW has released its Nvidia SLI cards the exact same time Clevo does. Being that a few resellers hinted at the x7200 being released late August, conceivably the new AW 480 SLI notebook from AW will release at the same time or a week later.

On the first day of E3,
    Dell co. gave to me,
    a 480m SLI capable lappy. :D

So, what did Dell have to offer today at E3? Anyone? I'm getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on an M17x, but if they release one with 2x 480m's the day after ordering I'm gonna be pissed.

It looks like as of today you can now configure alienware laptops w/ raid 1 and raid 0 HD's. I didn't notice this until today but it can't be more then a day or two old

You guys were late to the party, check a few pages back here...the worst part is the 5870 benches were done with a 820qm, the 480 benches done with a desktop 940.

Well, from what I have read on the notebookcheck review of the Clevo D901F which was tested with Desktop 940 and 6gb ram as opposed to the notebookcheck review of Devil 9700 DTX which had 820qm and 4gb ram, (Clevo having the GTX 480m and Devil having ATI 5870 - both single gpu), the results for the Nvidia gpu dont really look that convincing - especially when compared to the 5870 results on a lesser spec'd machine!

Given that the ATI results are also obtained using current drivers which have issues and are soon to be rectified in the next CCC release, the ATI results should improve considerably on figures given by notebookcheck - efectively making the 480m look a bit like a flop.

Its obviously a good card but with such a high cost in comparison and the apparent issues with TDP, I think that the ATI offering has the most potential for improvement and it could be said that the Nvidia offering was stuck out there to try and compete at the top - which it does i guess, but not to the degree everyone was expecting.

Some new things are not necesarily better huh? :D

Don't expect a 480M SLI M17x. The M17x is the last of it's kind. If you like the design go for it, sooner or later it won't be the same anymore. :(

...then again if you want a 18"+ system then you might want to wait. ;)

well will the 480m be better than my SLI 280s ?

of course we still do not know what dell will do with the 480m in the m17x (if they even do anything) to tweak it or neuter it.

Too pathetic actually. Look at this. It replicates the 3D Mark 06 score shown on the notebookcheck website but now with the x7200 instead of the aging clevo d900f. Interestingly the article shows a 9.5% increase from single to SLI configuration of GTX 480m in 3D mark 06. Aren't those numbers a bit too low? Like suspiciously really low for a desktop processor system with SLI? Probably the GTX 285M beats these scores with SLI and a notebook processor.

I am going on vacation soon until late July and I won't need my PC therefore I can wait until August to order something if it's worth it.
