They definitely have a booth there. I don't think they need an official press conference.
-
-
I think they will atleast send out emails in a newsletter or something. I'm keeping an eye on their website too.
-
Yeah me too...

Just to throw some speculative fuel on the fire, i spoke to my dell rep today about returning my order (due delivery on 21st) should anything come from E3.....yeah i can return within 7 business days so im sorted should something crop up......however.....he was kinda mentioning "the new m17x" quite alot without saying so
......could be me tho eh?
-
Isn't the NBR rep. Charles meeting with Alienware on Wednesday?
-
Yes he is. He'll probably be reporting back here later that day.
-
Yea, like Drake said, they have a booth.
So something will be there. And the NEW Alienware M17x probably means a 480m or something. But speculation will get you no where...
We'll have to wait till wednesday/thursday. -
Well there won't be much to report if they don't show off anything new!!

UPS tried to deliver my new m17x today.....told em to take it back and hold it 5 days till i know whats going on.....then i will take delivery of it if nothing of great interest crops up....im hoping some news rolls in soon.....

saw this article at alienwarearena.com
Why You'll never see a PC Press Conference at E3 -
Yea but they still have booths.. tsk tsk.
-
Mine is probably getting to my basecamp in the next day or two. Lucky for me, I don't have to sign for it till I get back and Dells EDD was July 15th since they give a two month EDD for Iraq orders.
Basically if something new pops up that peaks my interest, I'll return and re-order. That said, I doubt anything comes up anytime soon. They released the M11x, and I don't think there will be dual 480's in the M17x. I think they will only offer a single one like the Eurocom X8100 laptop. But the Eurocom offers the ability to hold 4 HDDs. If Alienware offered 3 HDDS with the ability to have two in RAID 0, I'd be all over it. -
man i still think for a "Laptop" 1 Harddrive is more than enough.
-
nope 2 is great, maybe even 3 would be better
-
Maybe if it can fit a 3.5" drive it would be.
-
But the laptop is a desktop replacement
I'd run two intel SSD in RAID 0, and than you can have 1.5 TB for storage. Or possibly mirror those. Run the O/S programs in RAID, and have extra protection for your files in a RAID 1 type.
Three would be fine for me since I tend to make backups. Once I get home I may swap the CD drive in my M17x R2 for a HDD caddy and install a 750gb drive or a 1TB drive. Depends on how much I use the optical drive. That or just sideline one of the SSDs for space. -
Did not think you could do that with a Slot Load
-
I can't believe there are still no announcements.
-
Should be just as easy for the M17x as the M15x. I believe they the same drives. Just gotta open the system up.
M15x Optical Drive HDD Caddy Installation (56k Warning) -
Did you see the Alienware Arena website? They even said that E3 announcements are more about games than hardware, so you probably won't be seeing anything 'huge'.

Ive got 2 in raid 0 (x2 500gb 7200's) and i think that will suffice for me...if i need more storage, i can always get an external.......basically, im happy with mine and well, even if USB 3.0 popped up im not sure it would be worth all the hassle of re-ordering.
Very doubtful (almost impossible) for sli 480's - i would even rather stick to my c/f 5870's over a singular 480m if thats released....
All in all, i doubt i will be sending back but i just want the re assurance i can should something major pop up like a 27" OLED 3d screen
-
I know but they are changing the rules then... Remember E3 last year they announced the most innovative laptop ever seen on planet earth that is the M17X and years before that they also did releases...
So why would they change the game this year? -
That's actually reeally tempting to try.
-
Tell me about it. I could store a ton of programs and games on 320GB of 0SSD space (SSD RAID 0). Have lots of speed, and then 1TB of storage space for pics, vids, music ect. But Sometimes I like to copy movies and blu-rays and such. Well see when I get home. Than I feel like an idiot for buying a blu-ray burner
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Thats one hell of an m17x you got on order.......
-
Blazing fast games and software > bluray, personally. The resale value would go up as well wouldn't it?
Side note: what happened to the avatar
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
id be happy with that!
-
I'm going to stick with the BluRay player I ordered. I figure that I can upgrade to an SSD eventually and all media/'stuff' can go on one of my 1TB externals.
-
It's gonna be pretty funny if Alienware doesn't announce something new at E3 when people have been holding out for months just to see what they were gonna show.
-
I'm starting to feel that's exactly what is going to happen.
-
steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Dunno whats worse....waiting for something or waiting for nothing
-
To wait or not to wait, what's (less) troublest in this world?
-
I've looked everywhere, even contacted people that posted videos of E3 on youtube to see if they can stop by the Alienware booth but nothing yet...
-
Ya, it doesn't seem like anything new, I just finished placing my order, can't wait for my new laptop!
-
I wouldn't order anything until tomorrow when Charles has his meeting with Alienware.
-
Who is Charles?
-
Either way I can make changes to it if anything does happen. I'm only confirming the e-mail tomorrow after he talks with them.
If anything is updated it will probably be the M17x not the M15x -
I agree, but i do love my space.
As for the Avatar, I'm headed home on leave and eager to get back on my bike. Figured I'd start gettin in the mood to hit the streets with my buddies. 9+ months is a long time for a man to go with out riding a wheelie on anything. I can't even find a wheelchair out here.
But when I get back, I'll sign the delivery for my M17x and should have a few months to get it right where I want before I get home and life takes over priorities.
Thanks, should be at my basecamp in the next few days. I'll sign for it when I get back and I have everything sitting locked in a locker ready to be put into the system. Should be a beast.
I don't know which cost more, my bike, or my M17x. Not sure which is more fun either
-
The alienware booth at E3 is like the size of a coffee table. It looked closed today from some videos I saw on Gamespot. I hope I am wrong because you look really excited but with a booth size that big I doubt they will be unveiling any major systems. Anywho, by August we might have more info and if I remember correctly you said it should be fine for you to wait until then.
-
Chaz dude... Chaz...
-
I just left E3 and Alienware had nothing new only m11X R2 there was no 480gtx systems for display.
-
Let me spell it out for you
Charles P. Jefferies - Intergalactic Bounty Hunter from the City of Angels -
Im not going to be the one that says PC gaming is dead, because right now in the gaming industry I can see it gaining more momentum again. If Alienware was smart the would be the "build" of choice to get into the pc gaming market, but the fact is people are more interested with the new stuff coming out of the 3 major hardware manufacturers. Just sayin....
-
Ah ok, I knew him under Chaz...
-
And you got into E3 how exactly?
-
500.00 a ticket
-
Worthless without pics!
-
Ya pics or it never happened lol
-
I don't understand... E3 is only for people that can get a pass... There are no tickets for sale... it seems a lot of people are truly fake on the internet.
Official E3 FAQ -
That doesn't mean you can "buy" tickets, why do you think it cost $500?
