I think they have a 21 day return policy. You dont have to return it, wait for E3 and if they happen to change it sell your system.
-
-
Dell systems are 21 days but Alienwares are 30 days.
-
Good to know. Now I can rest easy.
-
I was told 30-days on my last AW return
-
Now that AW just released an updated M11X with Optimus and i5 and i7 processors, I doubt they will release a new one next week.
So what exactly will they announce?
- M17X R3 for the 480M with USB 3.0?
- M15X R2?
- M18X?
- M13X?
It's really anyone's guess but my opinion is that there will not be an M18X nor an M13X as they would cannibalize sales of the M17X for the first one and the M11X for the latter.
Therefore I suspect a revamped M17X and maybe some M15X refresh...
Anyone here with "underground" information???
-
In the past six months I've been visiting this forum quite often while waiting to see if there are any "rumors" on various refreshes and new releases and I've noticed that one of the best sources with correct rumors was Darkhan. Unfortunately, he hasn't posted anything in a while but he had a good record of "predicting" new releases and refreshes.
So, I remember that back in March he made a post regarding a potential R3 for M17x during this year. Here is the post:
So, as far as M17x goes, they probably might add various upgrades on the R2 (like 940xm and a single 480M) but R3 is not very likely to happen during E3. I guess we'll find out in a week... -
I know we will find out in a week but I am getting so impatient... It's like hurting me almost...
Can I leave work for depression due the lack of Alienware's communication? That would be a good excuse for not coming in...
Except I am self-employed...
-
SLi 470M on the GF104 core.
-
There will most likely be a new design for the m17x with better cooling to support the 480m SLI and they will probably add new features too. An m13x would fit right into the whole alienware set, they are all 2 inches apart
I can't wait for E3
-
Everyone is talking about a new design for the M17X supporting the 480M but I am not so sure because they will need a new design for Sandy Bridge and they cannot design PCs every 6 months. -
This.
The only update for the m17x i see is the 480m and the small chance of Sli 480m, m15x won't be updated, and the m11x R2 will be their main showcased item. -
I really don't think they'll have anything new for E3, other than showing the revised M11X. All this 'talk' of an M13X, etc is just that- talk.
-
well since it is taking so long to bring out any solid information on whether or not they will incorperate the gtx480m/sli in the m17x. i doubt they will be first on the ball with sandy bridge either.
-
They could always announce sandy bridge support next e3.
-
actualy yes they can and it's preatty much what they have been doing lately
m17->m17x->m17x-R2
not counting M15x M11x M11x-R1 and the desktop they got out in that time -
I don't think anything major will able. I mean, shouldn't we have heard something by now...maybe just a little tidbit of information for it if there was a new system or remodel of M15x or M17x..?
-
well, yes and no. R2 was a platform refresh yes, but the units themselves and cooling ability is almost a year old, so I have to disagree about the R2 being new. Besides that, the M11 and M15x were planned launches, and we're talking about singular platform refreshes every 6 months. To which, no, dell does not do a total redesign of the M17x every 6months, I can't think of any OE that does. We're getting close to needing a total redesign, but we're not *quite* there yet.
-
For both the M17x and M15x, it has barely been a year (not even a year for the M15x) since they've been released. They won't do a complete redesign until next year for sure. The most they will do for E3 is showcase the laptops with new specs (i.e. 5850 in M15x, 5870 in M17x and i7ULV in M11x). None of these graphics options have been announced by Dell on their blog I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong). They've kind of just popped up on the website. So my guess is that Dell will just showcase the laptops with the new specs. AW is hardly the first manufacturer to incorporate the new Graphics cards, it's usually done by Asus or another maker. And I would be really surprised if they launch a new product.
Of course I'm saying all this just ot make myself feel better.
-
^^ Reading that though makes me feel better as I plan on ordering an M15x today! Can't pass up a sale son!
-
What sale? I couldn't find any sale on the M15X on Dell's website today...
Back on topic, I think that AW @ E3 will basically just exhibit the new components in the M11X, M15X, and M17X, as another poster said. If a new model was being introduced, the current M15X would be discounted, like the M11X-R1 was in its last days... -
That's not entirely true. Dell has become master at announcing new products that people have not really expected similar to Apple. On top of that if they announce something at E3 it does not mean it will be available that same day. It could be available a week or two later giving plenty of time for discounts...
I am hoping for something extraordinary but I know we will just get nothing this year. -
In Canada this past sales week they had like upto $200 off Alienware laptops, apart of the free component upgrade promotion. I can't find it on their site anymore even though the sale is supposed to end on June 11, but if you going to their mobile site you can see its on sale there....Plus I was able to haggle a supervisor into giving me a better EPP discount then the normal 5% on Alienware computers.
-
That is true about the models being discounted. I don't even see part being discounted on any model. They might just add usb 3.0 and nvidia cards.
-
I am now betting on R3
-
I bet my 5870 drivers that there will not be any huge unveiling of anything new. Just the announcement of the "new" revisions of all three current models.
-
Blue we already know that just let us dream for another few days before great deception strikes upon us...
-
:wink::wub:
I just don't want to return this thing is all. -
E3 prediction: m17x with 480m single. They'll discuss the m11x and their desktops. I'd be very surprised if they announced m18x.
-
+1 on the notebook piece with the 480m single, M11x core ix series/optimus updates, '3d' desktops... and of course maybe something between the 11" & 17" notebooks, unless they decide to 'hold' on that piece entirely until fall/ces - a few more days and we'll know for sure!
-
Alienware Tablet.
-
No point for a new release.
The high-end notebook space is already too crowded with flying saucers, lunchboxes and other intergalactic garbage. -
What was the point with the 480M again? I thought Nvidia's latest cards draw more power than ever, and are barely better than the ATI counterparts which have been out for a long time already.
-
Showcase m11x w/ i7 ULV, m17x w/ single 480m and probably nothing for the m15x. They don't want the m15 competing with the m17x most likely. :/
-
I'm guessing it's 30% better than a single 5870 with 2x the power consumption, which really makes it ty GPU, but then again they need to compete and the fanboys will eat up anything.
When I heard the word nvidia years ago I was like, these guys make the best graphics chips ever! Now I just think they're crap. They really need to step it up a notch.
-
It will be marginally stronger for a few months till 6000 hits.
-
Yes, and I have also read that ATI focus on even better energy efficiency with their 6000 series. Which is what I think is the future. It should definitely make it easier for laptop makers. We get more power in even smaller laptops.
-
Maybe they should focus on performance & drivers
-
Nah, one at a time. Either performance or drivers, you choose
-
So along with that old and unfounded post by a French guy about a DELL marketing manager that said a M18x is coming, I guess Joker has been told one will come too. My only question is are 18' RGBLED screens possible/available? I will buy this time, 18 inches of RGBLED, count me in. High end SB's are not worth waiting for if its slated for a 2011 Q2 release, and I doubt it will make a huge difference in games.
-
after talking to a authorised dealer here in aus, on the phone he was really pushy for me to buy now. I just happened to ask him "im not sure if i should buy it now or wait too see if they bring anything new out". he said that i will have to wait till september if that's the case. I don't know whether or not he knows somthing that i dont?
-
Seems like he might. That would be a tally of 1 rumor of something coming late August, and 3 reps just recently including yours saying September. I'd say something is definately going on now. Just want to know if 18inch RGBLED's are gonna be happening....if they are being developed for production my Christmas is coming 2 months early
-
Joker never said that. He said this:
-
Yeah he did say that, but he also said this.
I'm getting ready to have some strong tape ready for my F5 button when September rolls around I think. Definately ready to spend this cash now. -
Lots of deals on Alienware's on Canada's Dell site so definitely looks like some refreshed systems coming in soon.
-
dfinately me too
-
as far as I'm aware, they're the same thing. Great Hardware that's never fully utilized or Decent hardware that is are the choices. It's been that way ever since they went Unified shaders.
The same point that the 4870 was to the 280M? Marginality has always been apart of new graphics cards releases. When was the last time ATi or Nvidia came swooping in to pummel the other to death with a >40% gain over the other? In any case, We haven't seen any sort of real benchmarks (unless some in a notebook platform have popped up since this post) so it's all speculation still. -
Was kidding, lol. They're the same, of course (to some extend).
-
mmkay.
I'm still not awake yet today. -
If there is an M18X coming out soon, it may be announced at E3 but will go for sale later. All I know is that if it's true I will wait for it.

steviejones133 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Depends on how much the "hypothetical" m18x would cost....im imagining it would be mega bucks.....
