This ain't old, i still use it as my main desktop. Best case ever made after the Aurora Predator R2.

I agree Katalin. If I did not travel so much, I would have one of those to compliment the M18x. My neighbor--also a "mature gamer" like us--
--has one (with current specs) and it is truly a spectacular machine in terms of performance and appearance. I think this case design annihilates anything that came before it.

Would be like a 3 terabyte hard drive today.
I wonder if in another 10 years computers will be using over 10 terabyte drives normally...
gonna download a car. -
If the enviro-nazis have their way we will all be using power-sipping smart phones and cloud storage, with nothing but SD cards for local data. -
We're already being killed, look at all this movement to lower performance ultrabooks, tablets and this junk about the cloud and cloud gaming.
Why do I have to let someone else's system do my work when I can have my own monster do it myself? -

This is what got me interested in AW, I would have had one of these in Highschool if it hadnt been so far out of my price range. -

They can come in handy when doing mods. -
I have a predator 2 but got it "barebones" on ebay a few years back. Had to buy a new CPU and graphics card. -
I was referring to:
"It could turn to un-removable flash storage and transferring over a wi-fi connection. At least from what I'm starting to see."
This is the rather irritatingly pointless thing to me.
I'm an Android user myself with a 32GB MicroSD, so ... meh. I can't tolerate streaming content constantly. I always figured the point of having a mobile phone was not to be limited to places for my content. -

We are back!
and we have some laptops we want to show you...
Check out the Alienware Sentia m3200
And, the Alienware Sentia 3450
Enjoy -
The old "skull cap" design brings back some great memories of the old systems.
I like the sleek design of the newer systems better, but nostalgia is always cool.
What would be kind of sweet is to have some custom notebook sleeves for current models that have the skull cap appearance, available in the legacy m9700 and m3450 colors. If the pricing is decent, I'd love to have a cobalt blue or bright green sleeve that looks like that as an accessory for my M18x.
I just submitted that at Idea Storm. http://www.ideastorm.com/idea2ReadIdea?Id=087700000008kBLAAY&v=1346934578834

That's a great idea Mr. Fox, I'd definitely buy one of those for myself...
-
Aren't there much older notebooks than the skullcaps?
-
Thanks for posting the idea Mr. Fox and for linking back to this thread, I hadn't seen it before.
-
Thanks, Cy. Glad you stopped in to comment.

But we are trying to get some more details; most of the info was on magazines and that's the problem. -

Thank you very much for all the support.
Today's model:
Aurora m9700

I love that color! Because it has been so long ago it now seems so odd to see an AMD CPU in a gaming laptop, and especially with an NVIDIA GPU. But, that was back in the day before AMD gobbled up ATI and AMD was giving Intel a run for the money on CPU performance at that point in time.

I miss 1920x1200p...

I just saw one on ebay in good condition for $850
))) It looked good, though it has been some time since it was built...

Alienware Aurora mALX (Titan)
Another one with AMD processor and Nvidia Graphics
-
Ah, the days when notebooks were fat, but had more ports than the average low-end PC today...
-
Ahhh that was my first Alienware. that M9700 was one hell of a decent rig. I got it right around the time Crysis 1 came out. It couldnt run it then either
That thing will hold a place in my heart.
A fire hit my house about 2 years ago and this baby was inside of it (It was going on 3 years old) and the insurance company scrapped it. But since it was an alienware and a decent one at that, they gave me full credit to buy a brand new Alienware. Which is what Im typing on right now!
I loved that computer but Alienware has come a LONG way since then. Especially with the case. It may weigh 25 freaking pounds but its one hell of a solid piece. Which is WAY more than I could say about the M9700. I do miss that green though. It really caught people's attention. -

SEE dELL NEED AN ADD ON BACK PLATE FOR THE M18X SCREENS THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS.. AND THESE COLORS WOULD BE AWESOME! Id buy a skull cap add on cover for my screen lol..
-
All these older ones were actually built on Clevo platforms, weren't they? But with a custom lid.
I still wish we had a flexible, powerful fifteen inch that didn't weigh 4kg though... -
Yes, Clevo was one of Alienware's ODMs in the past.
-
Yes, that is very true. There are not that many ODMs out there. Many laptops brandishing different labels are made by the hand full of companies globally. Laptops are almost always built by an ODM for an OEM. With the exception of the generic variations of Clevo systems offered through boutique resellers under different labels, laptops are generally unique and built to an OEMs specificiations. So, chassis design, warranty and service, software bundles and unique hardware features become very important elements in one brand distinguishing itself from its competitors even though the core components may be identical. This is why I am a Dell/Alienware fan, as they do a superior job of distinguishing their brand in those ways.

Today's model:
Alienware Skullcap M15x
-
katalin_2003 NBR Spectre Super Moderator
Natalia, i'm afraid that needs to be fixed.
Pictured you have a area-51 m15x while the specs are the ones of the 'All Powerful M15x'. The former was available in both Skullcap and Ripley designs with Core2 CPUs, while the latter was only available with the Ripley design, core i5/i7 CPUs with two types of screens, WideHD (1980x900) and WideFHD (1980x1080).
-
Uh oh! Someone dun goofed
I've always liked the Area-51 m15x design, too bad it only came in that plastic-y looking silver. -
I really liked the look of that model at the time. Was pretty keen on importing one with a P8600 and 8800M GT at the time...
-
Uhh... Wasn't that the model that had case melting issues?
Anyway, it's funny to see Natalie posting newer and newer tech so often. Given this rate, we'd probably venture into Alienware's trade secrets and future prototype designs (hopefully).
-
We can always hope. Love the lineup on systems here. Would LOVE to get my hands on the Hanger 18 even in an older condition. I feel it would compliment my lineup of systems quite nicely.
-
Alienware hangar 18 hd restoration
I am now saving up some money so I can make it much much more powerfull and double the hdd capacity. -
didn't the hangar have issues with its blue ray player? I also remember it was like 3 grand when it was new...
-
Yeah, the bluray was like a 1200$ option
But, since I updated my system with a new motherboard, I can just use a slimline sata player. I have the dvd from my x51 in there right now. The old one was a IDE player.
The price was very high for the hangar, a little too high considering it was just a rebadged msi media live DIVA. -
Great thread saw a lot a alienwares I didn't knew the existence of eheh also I didn't know alienware had a bumbox
.
But I have a question is alienware doing this thread so they can gather a litle more of ideas to a new design of a new alien???.

Hmm... I missed seeing that limited edition model when it came out. Wow, only 350 were available? Wonder if anyone still has one or knows someone that does?
That's a very cool-looking blue color. -
