Nice. As I expected, they are allowing them to be in the lower configs again which isn't that surprising...
I do wonder if it would sell out again. One can only assume AW and many other vendors were banging on the table for nvidia to deliver more 780ms...since no product means no sales. I see estimated ship date as 9/17 too. I really hope they update current orders soon. -
But one could always try though, but I doubt they can help you because the Dell reps cannot apply expired codes to the system. Dell made it this way to make sure they cant abuse it. -

wishful thinking right, worth a shot though
-
Where were you guys getting these 17% off coupons?
-
Are you able to see estimated delivery date while checking your status as mine is also a recplacement which is in production with no estimated delivery date
-
I can see ETA on mine.
September 10th -
I'm becoming impatient now.
My EDD is still 10/4, I'll be pretty upset if new 780m orders placed start shipping out before mine does.
-
The waiting is killing me -
My order has finally gone into production, been in pre-production for the last 2 weeks waiting for the 780m's.

I ordered on the 16th of August (from Australia) and had an EDD on the 10th of October. I just emailed Dell and they said the ordered part AKA 780M has arrived and will built and shipped by the 6th of September.

Wish I had a screenshot to prove to the representative I speech with nearly everyday... to shove it in their face, when they tell me there are no 780's yet , and they are back ordered.
-
that's crazy, my order was only in pre-production for maybe 2 hours

-
Woo, I just received shipping confirmation. Awesome!

Sorry, I mentioned it a few times in this thread and others. Placed on 7/31 right before the 30% coupon expired. A little over a month of waiting, more than I had expected initially but I can cope with it... IF the notebook is flawless.
-
Mine is in the next tower over, on the FedEx vehicle for delivery.

Woke up this morning and felt it was like XMAS. Received shipping notice from Dell on my AW18 ordered July 31 (took advantage of the 20% discount coupon) with an initial EDD 8/23 then updated to 9/5 last week. They had upgraded my shipping from two-day to next day.

BREAKING NEWS
Expect a lot more delays and higher prices, the place where nVidia's ram is produced has caught fire and burned to the ground.

Yeah, I just read about that. Looks like 15%-30% of the entire worlds memory production is going to be halted. I suppose I'll just wait until next year to buy the AW18, LOL.
That's insane. Talk about inflation... -
Was just coming to see if the fire was being discussed in this thread yet. There goes the 780M production....
-
I nicked my 18 just in time!
Wow, that seems pretty serious. The demand was too high! -
well really hope that my order being in production means this won't effect me
-
If this is as bad as early reports suggest, production for next years GPU's may also be delayed. Hopefully NVIDIA has some form of contingency plan in place for events such as this, especially since something like this happened before, back in 2005.
-
This will affect Alienware for sure because they use Hynix GDDR5 on their MXM cards. Clevo and MSI will go unaffected since they use Samsung memory.
A solution for Alienware would be to switch to Samsung as well. They are better than Hynix and allow higher overclocks because the GDDR5 is rated higher. But it will take some time to switch manufacturer, so this will affect Alienware for sure. I`m glad I ordered mine. GDDR5 price have already increased 10% according to kitguru, and this will slow down GPU production in general. -
-
Yes, as stated, being in production means nothing. I've also been in production for a month...I wonder if my 780ms got allocated to me?
-
Well if its been in production for a month, that status must mean that the computer in general is in production, but they could still miss important parts like the GPU. I guess they do everything else instead since it have the CPU: install OS and drivers, and assemble the computer and have everything ready, but the GPU.
This kinda scares me a bit since I`ve been in production for 5 days now, but I have atleast an ETA so I dont think I have to wait longer -
Just got my Alienware 18. It has no sound whatsoever. This is my 3rd system with problems. It also seems to be vibrating quite a bit from what I assume are the harddrives. I don't remember the last one having this much vibration.
I tried reinstalling the audio drivers but they fail every time.
The screen also has some dead pixels. -
Your third Alienware 18? Or third Dell/Alienware?
I'm hoping the fact mine was in pre-production waiting for a part and now moved to production means that I won't go back to waiting again. -
Sigh. -

Maybe this is the problem of using these low cost workers who simply don't care and have no pride in their work/job/company ...Just do a half job and move on.
-
Last i saw on the factory was the important equipment for ram production was undamaged and they should be able to resume production soon.

Lots of people said on the forums than dropping them a call may help... that is what I did with both the AW17 and 18 orders.
I doubt you have to worry about new orders, after pushing them (spamming them actually) with emails I managed to get this response:
Dear ..,
No, orders placed online showing an EDD will not get priority over you. As mentioned: first in, first out.
No charge for collection fee.
Regards.

So yeah, with a FIFO system newer orders shouldn't ship before you, thus we should expect our system before the earliest EDD we saw since the day of purchase! -
You are totally right because mine shipped out this morning!
Now I just have to contain myself for two more days haha. -

bet they blew up their own factory to collect on insurance to get started on ddr4... (which is now behind...) -
-
I agree that they are probably using FIFO as my order has shipped too...Just hoping no major issues. I'm thinking I should just test it first, then open it all up to see if anything is "loose" inside and just re-attach everything.
-
So those who placed their orders on the 31st are having them shipped now - I placed my order on the 4th Aug, so I'm living in hope I receive it by the weekend!

well my order was placed into production on the 1st of july... at 10am..
so, I suppose I should see shipping notification tomorrow...
however, its stupid, because 6 orders before it got cancelled on the 10th day or when they were about to go into production because of errors. -
I ordered on July 31st and haven't received and news on shipping yet and my rep hasn't emailed me any updates on my system yet but that's just business as usual for him looks like ill have to email him first so I can find out...
Where are the nVidia GeForce GTX 780M?
