This a Complete lie, the rep applied my 20% off expired coupon. When they had to reorder mine because a gift card wasn't added to the previous. The order was scraped and reapplied the coupon. Dell never took this away?

After talking with customer care (UK) for my order, I was told my order has an Estimated Shipping Date 26 Sept and is in production! However my order is in production now, when it goes in production how long does it usually stay? Parts were allocated, right?

Asking them the above question, just got me:
Agent (Wilson_Sioson): "I am currently checking the status of your order with Dell. And i am showing that the order still in-production. For Alienware laptops, the average leadtime for us to complete the manufacturing of the order is 4 weeks. This is a high-end product from Dellso we are making sure that all the specifications you have requested will be top of the line.

At the end I was assured again for a FIFO system to their orders.

There is no guarantee of how long a system takes to build. Usually, new systems take at least a week or two, but I've bought systems and have had them within the first week, I've also had systems take about three weeks. It just depends on parts availability, and the volume of orders in your region.

All you need to know: about 90% of the time the estimated delivery date is accurate. Of course there are exceptions.

I agree and as I have stated many times and from everything I have read, NOTHING is ever set in stone and there are ways for the Dell reps to get around the system with coupon codes, etc...You just have to find the rep willing to go that far or my best suggestion for US people is just wait for a sale.

The sale/discounts really depends on just the rep and his/her manager if they want to really do anything for you. That said, the reps also really don't know when your system will be shipped/sent since they really don't have access to that. It's not like they can walk across the Dell campus and go to the logistics department and check on your order for you. They REALLY don't know.

As mentioned, all the EDD times are just that, "estimated". They will tend to beat that date, unless you have these shortages or that fire that just happened, but again, the reps I've seen time and time again, don't really know so basing your schedule on them is a waste of time. Just sit tight and be patient and it'll eventually get sent to you...(unless you got your order canceled... :) )

Thanks for the reply. Well it is in production since Monday, so I am hoping it will take just another week... If they ship on the 26th, will have it around 30th.... I am returning my AW17 tomorrow morning, so yeah the more time without AW18 it means the more time without a computer at home!

Seriously dude? A complete lie? I tried several times with an expired coupon, where they couldn`t apply the code because the system they used blocked it.

If you got to use your coupon, good for you, but please don`t say I`m telling you is a lie since there is an expiration date for a reason. You was probably lucky because you had a quote already in the system, but they were nice to you because you forgot to use your code.

I got a call today form the representative. She said, they is no delivery date yet, that Im still waiting on the graphics card which are back ordered. are you fricking serious alienware! I live in montreal, people nearby are getting their machines with 780m's and have placed the orders after me.

I feel like AW is just screwing with me.

for going onto three months I have been told , we're taking care of you.. we will see what we can do to expediate the order. They claim Ive reached the highest level of their company and there is no further escalation possible. Odd, that the CEO's wife is speaking to me... and yet she can't get anything done..
derp - highest level excalation my . They have a process, and it fails, and they refuse to try harder or find a way to make it work.

It would be funny if your laptop showed up out of the blue. I mean, I've had delays like that through their order detail page. My order once shipped four days before the EDD and showed up at my door early, unexpected, and I didn't even receive confirmation of shipment until the original EDD. It was funny because I checked the email using the new system, LOL.

Maybe something is messed up. Can you cancel and re-order? The new AW18's are showing 9/19 shipment with max specifications.

Well, I call them or they call me everyday... seriously, I speak with dell/alienware every friggin day . . . .

If the order is replaced, i'll lose my spot in the queue.. I was reassured I was getting it this week, derp -fail!

course I was reassured I was getting it the 15th September, 21st September, 30th of september, then before the end of the first week of September... whatever.. I hate DELL/ALIENWARE.

All I see on the news for this is Hynix confirmed there was no damage to fab equipment and there would not be any production volume loss.

Yeah, but they aren't going to continue production in a burnt down facility. There will be some sort of delay, how long is the question.

It does look like Alienware/Dell orders a specific amount of 780M's for both the 17 and 18. In other words, they order one shipment specifically for the AW18 and one for the AW17 - there isn't a big box of 780M's they just pick and choose from until they run out. The AW17 has a late October shipment date, while the AW18 has a mid September shipment date, so, I assume they're low on the 780M's (or some other part) for the 17.

My point being: they have some now, but I'm sure a delay is inevitable at this point.

Pretty impressive if that's the case...Probably with so much manufacturing done in China, everything they have is latest tech and not some back room 50 year old plant equipment.

I'm not saying you're wrong, Cloud, but if you know business, you know to report one thing and deal with another. It would be best for NVIDIA to report everything is "okay" to prevent a drop in their stock, at the very least. I'm sure some stuff was damaged but will be pretty easily repaired... I saw the pictures, there is no way everything is in pristine condition after that. Perhaps nothing was seriously damaged, but the smoke alone would at the very least make a mess... Not to mention, this also was said to be a chemical fire, right?

Either way, I just hope things get back on track...NVIDIA is a little behind this year, especially with drivers.

Its not Nvidia. Its Hynix, they are their own company. They make GDDR5 to other companies, not just to Nvidia but also AMD. Hynix also manufacture DRAM, normal system RAM, to a ton of OEMs.

They have a reputation to hold. But most importantly stock holders to cater and keep updated. They can`t just go out to the media and outright lie.

That would be catastrophic for their business.

That's what I meant. NVIDIA and AMD would benefit from controlling the information before rumors spread like wildfire.

It's not lying, it's just not telling the full truth - it happens all the time. I doubt the public knows all of the details, and I doubt it's just a broom and mop cleanup. Think about it...

Of course they can. And they would, to prevent stocks from immediately crashing. What they discuss with their clients in the backrooms is another story.

OK I get what you two are saying, but wouldnt they benefit to say that "sorry, our equipment is destroyed by the fire, price have to go up" and cash in more on the stock that want destroyed?

If they lied, orders from customers keep pouring in, but they cant deliver because the manufacturing equipment is destroyed by the fire, then what? Wouldnt that ruin their reputation and scare the customers away to other DRAM makers like Samsung?

I'd rather be in a position of increasing/steady revenue and trying to meet demand, as opposed to dealing with loss in revenue, loss of investors, and possibly loss of market share. I do see what you're saying, though, but this 'lying' happens a lot. Businesses even manipulate investors (stockholders) by selling off assets they do not necessarily need so the income statement balances out for that quarter, ergo everything would "seem fine" and no panic is created. And yes, that is completely legal, it's just a grey area that businesses never hope to be in.

Risk is involved in ANY decision made when it comes to business operations. It's a very deceitful environment, to say the least.

Mind you, I'm happy everyone is getting their machines in proper due time, just that I wish mine as well...

The only answer I've gotten that could be remotely truth, is, I'm in the queue and it's being handled by first come first serve.

This being a replacement queue. But they do not tell me that, they simply have been telling me the 780m's are back ordered still, with no estimated time when they will be getting them. DERP. Friggin lying to me ! I know someone personally who got the same machine replaced, because LEDs were broken on his keyboard after some power issue/shutoff.

one thing that's odd, their automated phone service, does not recognize my order when I give it the order number.

Dell/Alienware suck about over selling and not having the innovatory.. I went through the same thing with my r4 with the GTX680. Phone support does not know anything but how to lie..

I sadly have to agree that the phone support have not been very helpful to me either, phoned up twice and had two different people while in Pre-Production. Both could only say that there was a shortage of a part and that they couldn't tell when the part would be in.

Both people I was in contact with took my phone number and email and said they would contact me if anything changed, I've since gone through "In Production" and now into "Shipping" status without so much as a message from either of them.

Im like the laughing stock of some execs at Dell I imagine, bet they are all ditting around drinking some champagne as they laugh at my situation, lol. j/k. but this is ridiculous

what exactly is dell's consumers resolutions department... how can I get to another department that can actually help me....

    edit:/ update:

I called back the original tech support I originally was dealing with. I went into length explaining I've been waiting 9 weeks for the replacement I was promised, 6 weeks since the last and final order was placed - if we dismiss errors and things that erroneously got cancelled.
They said They will contact me back, the woman I spoke to said she is now taking ownership of this and will follow it through, she spoke to her supervisor, they agreed they need to escalate it without fail. They said they emailed a bunch of people directly and together.

They said they are having it sent to their manager, of tech support, the consumers resolutions rep I had on the case , Susan, and Her manager as well, and the person assigned to build the machine, and his manager too, and HR.

I said plainly, I know I'm being lied too, theres no way they can be using the same excuse for 9 weeks, I have screenshots of others reporting their cases, some are new orders some are not, some have replacements, and from the same region as me, and were placed after me, and they've received or at least gotten shipping information. Ive gotten none.

However, she immedietly said that is not needed, she can actually see it all infront of her, and told me there was no shortage, and there is no reason I should have to have waited this long, and should have gotten it. So, here's to hoping I get good news next week.

She does not work Monday, but will call me Tuesday when she gets to the office. If she doesn't call me by 8pm my time, I'm calling back - unless spontaneously I get the machine. Anyways, she says she thinks she can get the machine to me by next week sometime, even if they have to circumvent other people in the queue, something will have to be done.

Course, I spent hours waiting, again on the phone. In my list of notes, (I always mark down the days/times and reason why I called, and how long it was - good for leverage..) This is my 83rd call to Alienware/Dell. Total time taking trying to resolve an issue : 17 hours - about. Over the course of 13 -going on 14 months.

about 2/3rds of that is in the last 2 months.

Talk about BS service right ?
